  1. Here are the threads: 1) Actors in Commercials = Before they were famous - actors in commercials 2) Commercials that make us scratch our heads = Say What? Commercials that make us scratch our heads. 3) People who should go away now & 6) Commercials that suck = Commercials With People That Should Go Away And Beyond...Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage 4) Commercials we love = Favorite Commercials <3 5) I don't think that means what you think it means (unintended messages) 7) Stirring the pot - Controversial Commercials I think that should cover it. If anyone wants to propose a new thread, please do so. Also if anyone wants to update a thread title, we can ask Dave. Happy snarking!
  2. OMG, yes! That has blown up on my Facebook newsfeed amongst my ultra conservative friends. They claim it's anti white and anti straight. Where's Anita Bryant when you need her?
  3. Another favorite of mine is the Visa Check Card commercial that is set in a pet store. Love it when the clerk picks up the phone to call in for approval and he picks up a bunny instead.
  4. I like the Mercedes commercial too! (I think you need to paste the web link, not a mobile version.)
  5. There's this Amex commercial with some woman - I guess she's a comedianne - I've never heard of her. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4FKuxu1VVY Carrie Brownstein? Anyway, it feels like a series of inside jokes that aren't funny. "I'll take a copy of a copy." What does that even mean? Is that funny? Do I earn membership reward points for it? Ugh. It's like when parents try to be cool.
  6. Alright Bilgistic! I started a few with some of my faves. Let's get this party started.
  7. One of my favorite commericals of all time is for a Canadian company - Danier Leather Love the song as well. Read that Danier won't allow it to be released or for the artist to make a longer play version.
  8. Metro PCS - The Power of a Period. Waiting for Brenda Vaccaro to come on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfRSo3dNH1E I didn't get it when I first saw the commercial. Kept thinking why is this Metrosexual (is that an intentional nod to the company's name?) kicking a ball into things? It also looked like he had a permanent wedgie going on.
  9. Sarah Michelle Gellar in a Burger King ad Amusing given an episode of The Crazy Ones focused on a pitch for McDonald's.
  10. Cheerios "Just Checking" ad with the interracial couple. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYofm5d5Xdw I love how the father yells "Kim?" when he wakes up covered in Cheerios. Of course, Cheerios was smart and capitalized on the notoriety around the ad and launched a follow-up ad that appeared in their first ever ad buy for the Super Bowl.
  11. Old eHarmony dude needs to go away as well. He's like the crypt keeper. The ad with speed dating? I'd rather see Marilyn Manson sitting in front of me than that lecherous old coot.
  12. Toronto Life has some hysterical recaps about Four Weddings Canada. http://www.torontolife.com/informer/toronto-culture/2012/02/02/four-weddings-canada-episode-5-tv-recap/
  13. I thought in TWOP, there were too many threads for the commercials. Perhaps people can suggest some in here before creating them? 1) Actors in Commercials 2) Commercials that make us scratch our heads 3) People who should go away now 4) Commercials we love 5) I don't think that means what you think it means (unintended messages) 6) Commercials that suck 7) Stirring the pot - Controversial Commercials 8) Prime Time (Super Bowl, Emmys etc) Or maybe by genre? Autos, Healthcare, Beauty etc. Thoughts?
  14. Love It or List It -- Hilary & David in the Greater Toronto area There are now updates on the HGTV website --- 1 year later look at the houses: http://www.hgtv.com/love-it-or-list-it/show/index.html?vty=/loveitorlistit/index.html There was a couple on where the husband was a real estate agent and the wife was a lawyer. She was love it, he was list it. They had 3 boys and 3 bedrooms in what looked like a townhouse but wasn't. It had a small foyer which was overstuffed with clothes, shoes etc; laundry on the main floor which he hated; a small powder room that was used frequently that she demanded be removed; an upstairs with 3 small bedrooms and a huge family room which she wouldn't allow to be touched. Hil removed the foyer so there's no coat/shoes storage, removed the powder room and installed a trough sink in the top floor bathroom for 85K. The woman was incredibly argumentative and arrogant. She decides to list it for the very changes that she requested. If this wasn't fake, I'd probably pelt her with water balloons. The kitchen of course looked pretty but the main floor lost a lot of functionality and the upstairs was a cluttered mess with post-its everywhere (the lawyer's idea of organization). A house 2 doors down with an extra bedroom came on the market so they bought that and are incorporating Hilary's design changes from their listed house into this one.
  15. I like episode threads for Competition shows not for Housewives. I'll deal. Not gonna flip a table ala Teresa or lick a bow off a cake like Sarah W. I suggest anyone who feels strongly one way or the other, surf over to the suggestion thread and comment: http://forums.previously.tv/topic/513-season-thread/ Thanks Lisin for your patience.
  16. ITA Clod. Smug idiot president trashed Nascar to the CMO. Forget any potential deal in the future jackwads. I was waiting to hear that their own kids were the focus groups but I guess they either don't have any or they don't even bother with their own kids. Marcus invested 100K that he walked away from. 60K went to the new molds. Guess the other 40K went to the office re-design? Marcus also sold off all the non car products for 70K. So the business is in better shape even without any of the other debt paid. They were on track to lose 60K this year. Wonder if they'll manage to do better than break-even? Betting he took back the 240K printer. I wonder if these guys really wanted a deal or if they just wanted an ATM. The arrogance and ineptitude were palpable.
  17. I found it. It's in this (the cabana) thread, up a few more posts. I don't want to be a complainer (really I don't). It's confusing all the moving around of posts. I replied to someone who asked if Lisa or Brandi had friends at the tabloids and my comment was moved to a different thread (S4 general discussion). Now I can't even find the post that I replied to.
  18. It's like This Old House in that it features old houses and tries to save or salvage old finishes. It's not like This Old House in that it manufactures drama (how many times does she run out of gas, drop a ring down a vent or drain etc). It's also not like This Old House in that most of the work is shoddy. Unless it's a house Nicole is planning on living in, everything is slap dash.
  19. How many people want to talk only about a specific episode and nothing else? Is that the norm? I had posted a reply in the Reunion Part 2 and it's gone. It was about Lisa and being friends on her own terms. Perhaps it was moved elsewhere. I was comparing it to how she was with a friend that was shown last year. We can't do that? We can only talk about 1 episode at a time? I prefer more fluid conversations.
  20. Lisa's good friend is an editor at one of the rags. Life & Style or In Touch I believe. She was featured on the show when Russell threatened to sue. I am sure they've all made friends somewhere (or have their publicists do it). Adrienne used Chef Bernie to spread some gossip. Their hands aren't clean. Brandi is a hypocrite.
  21. Brandi still is obsessing about Adrienne. She made the plastic surgery dig during the reunion. And she did a podcast with Sean Stewart (Adrienne's bf after the split). She spends almost the entirety of the interview either digging for dirt or slinging mud at Adrienne. Reality Tea Post What a great role model for her children. Never get over anything. Keep picking at scabs (literally and figuratively). Tiresome! Also in the podcast, Brandi says it's OK that she outed A&P using a surrogate because Adrienne "started it". Brandi says having a BF or a husband is like having a 3rd child. She's the child. An ill behaved one at that.
  22. My sentiments exactly. Reminds me of the scene we saw last season when she visited her son-in-law and his wife (her former best friend) and it was a frosty reception. I thought I would but since the storylines flow on these reality shows, I'd rather have 1 per season. On a (more) scripted episodic (is that a word) show like Big Bang Theory, 1 per episode would be OK. I just think it's a lot of threads and a lot of clicking. JMO.
  23. I'm of the mind set that less topics the better. I don't want to speak for the other poster (but I will) - I don't think they were asking for more topics.
  24. Kinda reminds me of the Bravo boards. But that was 1 thread per show per season. Much easier than this. This reminds me of the Apprentice board on TWOP. Too much to navigate. Now I'll have to organize and compartmentalize (sp) my thoughts! When Gigi had her 'illness', Yolanda went nuts at Brandi for even mentioning it. Which of course made me curious. Was Gigi wasted? Homesick? Mini breakdown? Or ate too many almonds? Can't even imagine if Lisa mentioned it on the recap. Kinda wishing she would but don't think that's fair to the kids.
  25. Generous allowance from Daddy I suppose. Does every episode have its own sub-topic?
