  1. Look at me --- learning stuff! That's what I love about these forums - thanks!
  2. We can thank Oprah for psychobabble Dr. Phil. One of the cheesiest things, besides Dr. Phil's engraved hanky that he hands out to crying guests, is how he walks off at the end of each show and grabs his wife out of the audience and they walk off together.
  3. What grits my teeth are the ads with off key singing - like it's supposed to be cute and quirky and not just sucky. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHaeb0O5Oug In the scene where she cries in the car, I got a distinct That Girl vibe. Wonder if that was what the agency was going for?
  4. Editor's Note: This topic replaces the old The Chew forum which has been vaulted at the location below: http://forums.previously.tv/forum/425-the-chew-v/ Carla has her hair all big today. I much prefer this look. https://twitter.com/thechew/status/450618499887820801/photo/1 Still not grooving on Clinton's facial hair though. (Can't figure how to embed image.)
  5. Small world story. About 2-3 years ago I was recruited by Fathead to head up their advertising unit. They wanted to make Fathead a household name. It would have required a move to MI. I went to school briefly in MI. I declined the interview.
  6. I think her dog either passes or gets lost. It's not looking good for poor Velvet. The amount of screen time the little doggy got this week is foreshadowing its demise (imo). True. I think Kandi figured it would be a slam dunk to get Porsha to sign and maybe didn't budget enough time for it. Porsha though reminds me of Gretchen a little on RHoOC. I wonder if Porsha really isn't up to it and is going to use the contract as an excuse to get out of it.
  7. I don't follow football. Only person I could name on the Steelers is Bubby Brister. And that's because his mom looked like Sylvester Stallone's mom. And because I was a teen with a crush on dumb ol' Bubby. There's another coach in a car commercial. Old white man - guessing it's college basketball. Again, it's completely lost on me and anyone else who doesn't follow those sports. Now, you put an NHL or MLB coach on a commercial, and I'll probably know who it is.
  8. I think Shep is going for winsome. When I look at him, all I can think of is toothsome. And Nancy Kerrigan meets Blue Lagoon boy. His teeth are so distracting. Jenna's aren't much better. Maybe her 50 year old benefactor (I mean boyfriend) can pop for Invislign. She's fangtastic. Between the jacked up teeth, the drunken Edward Scissorshand hair, the Like A Virgin Madonna glove, Jenna looks like a malfunction of the Weird Science computer. I like Kathryn despite her Raggedy Ann hair. I do wish she'd globe trot instead of screwing every male cast member. TRav is 52 honey - an overgrown frat boy who talks about himself in the 3rd person by a ridiculous nickname. Live a little girl. Cameran is very pretty. She seems to be the announcer and not a participant. Very smart to keep her real personal life off screen. Whitney looks like Mickey Dolenz love child with Sonny Bono. His mom is trying too hard. So banal. Isn't she from NY? What's with the drawl? Craig (yawn). MJ / Danni. I think they didn't get a copy of the script. Loving the scenery so far.
  9. Nene is all about relationships on her terms. It's all one sided. Unless she was responsible for signing my paychecks, I'd steer clear of that heifer. I do think Nene has had a hard-on for Peter for some time. I also think a lot of her posturing is to cover up her own insecurities and short-comings. Cynthia needs to get a backbone though. Kenya with that baby doll. Please. She might be 40+ but she's more immature than the junior high school girls in those parenting classes.
  10. Saw a clip of RuPaul's Drag Race. One of the contestants dressed up at Teresa. They played Snatch Game. The question was - what would Chelsea Handler name her Vodka. The drag Teresa wrote Cumin and pronounced it coming. Reality shows collide.
  11. One that I like (and haven't grown tired of yet) is the Target ad for Peter Pilotto: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEEsJQzSMbM I went to YouTube and found the original music video for that song. OMG, it's frightening! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_p-gacgSns
  12. The commercial for Resurrection - the music is haunting so you know something bad will happen. Even though I've seen the commercial 1,000 times, I'm still leery that the next time it airs, something horrific will show up on screen. I'm a sissy.
  13. Ah. I didn't know what her name was until I searched for the link to the spot. Wonder if the demographics for Portlandia have FICO scores of over 700, 'cause you know, you'll need a high one to get approved. Suppose I should go subject myself to watch an episode or two. Can't be worse than Mixology. Reminds me of the Time Warner Cable commercial where they have some guy who I guess is a football coach - I don't know if he really is one. How many people know who this dude is? (OK, before I hit Reply, I went and googled it. Bill Cowher. Retired Pittsburgh Football Coach. Still I have no clue. But, what the hell. It's a commercial shown in NY. And not just during sports. I'm getting cranky. I'm going to go eat a Snickers.)
  14. Flove that ad. Puppies and Clydesdales! Too bad Bud tastes like warm pee. Not that I'd know.
  15. Too bad we can't actually put the annoying kids in there and lock it...
  16. No worries. I haven't figured out how to PM anyone here yet. Not sure if you're a TWOP refugee as well but there's a few of us here and we are trying to keep the commercials forum more streamlined compared to the dozens and dozens of threads on TWOP. I haven't seen Nellie's show (she will forever be Nellie to me) but I did see Laura/Melissa on WWHL and she said she was good friends with Nellie then & now. Nellie physically looked like my stepsister who was (and still is) a raving biotch so I might be predisposed to dislike her (a lot).
  17. Talking food - always so disturbing! Wonder if he's the product of the California Happy Cow (Kristen?) and Maxwell the Geico Pig?
  18. That would be what my morning commute was on the #4 train (NYC). That and the people who reeked of raw garlic. Made the morning commute that much more unbearable!
  19. We're trying to keep the threads more streamlined so we're covering kids, adults, wild boars etc all in this thread. Makes it easier to keep the discussion flowing.
  20. We have a thread for favorites: http://forums.previously.tv/topic/2715-favorite-commercials/
  21. Hi, we are covering the kids in another thread http://forums.previously.tv/topic/2742-commercials-with-people-that-should-go-away-and-beyond-commercials-that-annoy-irritate-or-outright-enrage/ You'll find we feel your unlove for Cawwowine (or as I call her Nelly Olsen).
  22. In the same alternate universe as the Visa paper towel mom. This commercial used to make my mom get all stabby. As if any of her children would have ever attempted it. We'd have wound up on milk cartons.
  23. MorningHead is destined to be a novelty item that gets snickers from eternal 12 year old boys. Fiber Fix sounded like it was going to be a Metamucil (sp) type of product. Turned out to be more like Duct tape. I'd think the name would be the first thing that the shark would fix. Marketing 101 - don't make your intended consumer struggle to figure out what your product is or what it does.
  24. Don't. That little blonde 'children of the corn' girl in the BMW commercial with her odd way of talking makes me want to... permanently glue a pacifier to her mouth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlvK-SRKdII I cannot hit the remote fast enough. She's right up there with the creepy Nelly Olsen like granddaughter on the eHarmony ad. Ugh.
  25. Then there's this Reebok ad where people dash in and out of subway cars to the tune of Underdog https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WB3yhhXN7C0 which just happens to be my brother's favorite show as a kid. What's the message? If you're a selfish jerk, wear our shoes? Our shoes will help you jump turnstiles?
