  1. That's an "intended" message. Yea, our pizza tastes like the box but it's only $5 and when you're drunk enough, you'll eat the box too.
  2. HHI has the Currie family from Scotland who is moving to Australia. Tim's a doctor with bushy eyebrows and Donna's a real estate agent who thinks she will be a model once they move. She acts and looks like Courtney Stodden trying to be Joanna Kruppa. They have a young daughter, perhaps around 8 years old. I've seen this episode many times and it never ceases to amuse me to see the wife act like a "model" complete with awkward poses where she over arches her back and thrusts out her tiny belly to the finger twirling of her over bleached hair to the pounds of spackled on make-up and what she thinks are sexy expressions. Guess this an audition tape. http://www.modelmayhem.com/2593753 Some googling and we discover that Donna is a bar promotion model and spends a lot of time in bars in Miami. What a weird arrangement.
  3. You can do a virtual tour of Minnehaha http://www.trulia.com/homes/Minnesota/Minneapolis/sold/24766-620-W-Minnehaha-Pkwy-Minneapolis-MN-55419#photo-1 Nicole has had a bunch of lawsuits over various houses. This is the only open one I found: http://pa.courts.state.mn.us/CaseDetail.aspx?CaseID=1615847108 Supposedly the Minnehaha scoop is that she had her then BF buy it with the understanding that they were getting married and would live in it together with their blended family. As Nicole mentions in the last episode, her prince didn't come. Once they broke up, the BF decided the house was his (since he paid for it) and wanted to resell it. Nicole made a bunch of claims and they've been duking it out in court. Not sure if this BF is the dentist that she was dating or another guy.
  4. That is one of the more annoying TWC commercials. That's something Cowher (sp), a former Pitts Steeler coach. It was covered earlier when I thought he was a fake coach.
  5. Me either. It almost looked like she would be stuck at the "altar" or courthouse in this case. Unfortunately, we did. There was a whole episode about how Larry (I think) would follow Carol around and take her photo. And then subject everyone else to it. He even went to work with her to take her photo. There was another episode of him getting an office on the same floor in her office to run his travel agency. Those 2 episodes stick out to me as cringe worthy.
  6. Did Julia say: I have a BA in Art History and an Engineering degree so I'm pretty much open to anything when asked about what she wanted to do career wise? It's a good thing she's winning a lot of money. Companies don't tend to spend time trying to figure out what potential employees might be good at or what they might want to do. Julia may want to invest in a career coach and figure it out.
  7. Don't know what Quinn Martin is... My grandmother loved Columbo and Ellery Queen. More on the Newhart's apartment: http://www.bygonechicago.com/2010/10/20/hi-bob/ I went to Chicago as a child, never as an adult. if I do go back, I am certainly walking by the apartment!
  8. Marcia Wallace was exceptional as Carol Kester, the statuesque redheaded secretary to an office of doctors, dentists and Bob. Wise cracking, fun loving, ever patient Carol. One of the funnier episodes that centered around Carol was when Jerry (reluctantly) and Bob nominate Carol for Secretary of the Year - an honor that she wins after she resigns to go work for Mr. Carlin. EW had a nice write-up on Carol after she passed last year. http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/10/26/marcia-wallace-actress-from-the-simpsons-and-the-bob-newhart-show-dies-at-70/
  9. One of my favorite episodes was the cruise to Europe. The lead up to the cruise with Emily cajoling Bob into taking a real vacation was funny. As was his support group deciding to hold sessions at one of their homes. But the best part was when they surprised B & E in the cabin that was all about 5 sq feet and no one could find the bed. Perhaps the funniest thing was cruising to Europe from Lake Michigan.
  10. A nod to the theme song. I can't imagine anyone else playing Emily. Suzanne was the perfect foil for Bob and was able to breathe life into the character of Emily even in the first season when she was fairly one dimensional. Ken Levine wrote a nice post about Suzanne after her passing: http://kenlevine.blogspot.com/2008/01/suzanne-pleshette.html
  11. "Hi Bob" the drinking game made it into an Arlo and Janis comic strip: http://www.gocomics.com/arloandjanis/2012/03/07#.U4WKBfldVN0
  12. Chicago dogs are great. Better than the pizza. Floved the opening to this series. Always wanted to live in Chicago and have Bob's commute. I think this series and MTM's probably had the longest openings --- and I watched them every time. One Chicagoan figured out where Bob and Emily's apartment was: http://jbw53191.blogspot.com/2009/03/quest-for-bob-newharts-apartment.html
  13. NY Times has a great article about Bob and the release of the series on DVD: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/27/arts/television/bob-newhart-master-of-the-one-sided-conversation.html?_r=1
  14. What a hateful couple. I feel for the employees.
  15. I hate that iPhone commercial. I wouldn't be too sure that the Ad Execs don't know the meaning of the songs. I'd say it's more the client that doesn't know. Like when the animators used to sneak in sex scenes in Disney cartoons.
  16. I despise that ad. I won't even link to it, I hate it that much. It glorifies domestic abuse imo. Cuts too close to home to me and my one ex who coincidentally or not was fro Italy (and he'd find that commercial charming I am sure). gah. While I'm ranting about Gelato commercials Hate this one. Between the jacked up teeth and the long drawn out pronunciations, argh.
  17. If sales are up, then Advertising is doing its job. Unless you're a brand marketer, then you can tie your performance review to feel-metrics.
  18. Right... but are the viewers "high end"? Because, if they aren't, then the commercial misses the demographic that would be approved for it.
  19. The new Payless commercial makes me reach for the remote almost as quickly as an eHarmony ad. http://www.ispot.tv/ad/7Sum/payless-shoe-source-easter The overgrown cheerleader who swallows her words makes me want to stuff a shoe in her mouth.
  20. I was thinking Jenni and The Situation from Jersey Shore.
  21. Finally saw that ad. ugh! I thought it was going to be a mobile commercial and then... all the roll sucking started. Just no. Yea, not surprised they pulled it. They've got a lame FB post about it as well. https://www.facebook.com/veet/posts/736097303088779?stream_ref=10 Not only did the one night stand woman feel like a man because of day old leg stubble, she felt like a chubby 'bear'. Way to go Havas! Unsurprising from the agency that brought us Dos Equis "Most Interesting Man in the World". Yawn.
  22. Just watched the Pro-Fit episode and would have sworn this was filmed in NJ. Michael Sena is a legend in his own mind and acted like a douche throughout the episode. Tina played the long suffering wife routine. Glad to see Michael came around a bit towards the end by giving his wife equal billing but then he messes up by changing the layout of the new space. He also messed up by waiting to contact his lawyer about the lease. Did he even try to call the landlord? Try to negotiate an out or a reduced rate due to low foot traffic? If the strip mall was more occupied when they moved in, he could have tried that as a negotiating point. He was quite the negative nancy. I wouldn't want to partner with him.
  23. There's an article in Life & Style that the wedding was indeed filmed for Tutera's show. http://www.lifeandstylemag.com/posts/real-housewives-of-beverly-hills-taylor-armstrong-marries-john-bluher-in-bel-air-ceremony-see-the-pics-36861 Another version of how Taylor met her new husband: First it was that he was a lawyer helping her with Russell's affairs. Then it was he was helping her with her book tour. Now, it's that they had mutual friend (Russell? Snowflake?). None of her versions include the fact that he was married with children when they met and started 'dating'. I really hope that Kennedy gets to live life off the camera. She so didn't want to be filmed.
  24. Perhaps it is because Will was 3 when this was filmed?
  25. I didn't hear about 'bad terms'. It's possible that for some reason he didn't get any money from the sale of 60% of the business and is not getting any from the remaining 40%. Something is up because he should have been able to either open a shop on his own or get a better investment deal.
