She is only 5 feet 4 inches. They could have done better.

What height would have been better? I prefer this so they won’t try and skimp on the effects like they might have done with a taller actress.

Why does that matter when it's inherently part of the character that she changes size?

I was just thinking that someone like "Liz Cambage" the basketball player would have been perfect in the transformed state, just a little green paint, I don't think they need to go CGI. There is something super sexy about a very tall, strong woman, so I would prefer to see a real live one. Find an actress that resembles her to be the normal state.

That's just not the character though. It's essential to it that Jennifer Walters has a drastically different appearance than She-Hulk.  Not to the 70s TV Hulk extent that they don't even have the same face, but it's key to the character that a small relatively weak person becomes a huge strong one. It's not the same plot beats where "puny Banner" becomes a Monster, but more about a wallflower becoming this larger than life, glamorous force. In the MeToo age, they'll probably do away with the 90s/00s emphasis on Cheesecake when she's in her She Hulk form, but even absent that (and the most recent She Hulk comic run emphasized this), the emphasis is definitely on a feeling of empowerment from being strong vs. average. So it can't just be a tall actress short of dual casting, or doing away with the Jennifer Walters part of her totally.

So there is currently some drama in the MCU general fandom because Tatiana Maslany says she's not playing She-Hulk but everything else points to it, including a tweet from Mark Ruffalo welcoming her to the family.

It seems to be a potential Paul Rudd denial situation until Marvel feels like confirming it.

The shows head writer also reacted to the news on Twitter. It’s unofficially official.

Could be a ploy from the producers to get somebody to come down on the asking price.

It's just weird.  She's a really great choice for the role, but not SO ideal that there aren't 4 or 5 other actresses who could pull it off just as well.  I wouldn't get this scenario playing out as it has from other side if this was part of a negotiation.

Well I meant Alison Brie, and other Alison Brie types, but okay.  Those clones too.  Heh.

Here is something I don't remember hearing about:

She-Hulk is "a series about a woman trying to navigate the world and be taken as a working professional despite the fact that she is well over 6'7" - and green," Feige said during Marvel's presentation at Disney Investor Day 2020. Feige also confirmed the "very funny" series from directors Coiro and Anu Valia (A.P. Bio) would see other Marvel superheroes - or villains - show up for court. "Since Jennifer Walters is a lawyer who specializes specifically in superhero-oriented legal cases," Feige teased, "you never know what Marvel characters are gonna pop up from episode to episode."

So they are basing it in part on the Dan Slott  series. Good.

The Sensational She-Hulk run, 1989-1994.

60 issues of mostly John Byrne.  Some Steve Gerber and Peter David.

Slott picked up a lot of the earlier themes and conventions a decade later.

I know a lot of more recent stuff with her has been total crap.

Marvel's She-Hulk TV Show: What We Know About The Disney+ Series
ERIK SWANN  : JUN. 27. 2021

There were doubts after initial reports but, during 2020’s Disney Investor Day presentation, Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany was confirmed to be playing Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk. We also learned Mark Ruffalo is returning as Bruce Banner or (Professor) Hulk. Joining them will be Ginger Gonzaga as Walters’ best friend, Hamilton alum Renée Elise Goldsberry as Ameila, with Anais Almonte in an unknown role and The Good Place’s Jameela Jamil as the villainous Titania. Jamil won’t be the only baddie, either, as the show will also mark the return of Tim Roth’s Emil Blonsky/Abomination from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.
*  *  *
With this being Jennifer Walters’ MCU debut, it appears that She-Hulk will be a classic origin story. The comics tell us that Walters gained her powers after receiving a life-saving blood transfusion from cousin Bruce, and the show will likely follow the same path. Kevin Feige has also revealed that the series will also tackle her career as a lawyer, which is bound to be interesting as she’s over 6’7” and green. But seeing as she dabbles in superhuman-related cases, Feige hinted that other heroes could pop in. Fingers crossed one of those faces is Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock.

She-Hulk was one of the many high-profile productions to be delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While it was originally set to commence filming in the summer of 2020, principal photography ultimately kicked off in Los Angeles back in April. The show reportedly moved things to Atlanta only a few days later, which is where work is currently progressing. Reports suggest filming will continue through August. Marvel has managed to keep things under lock and key, but a few (non-revealing) set photos have made their way online.

She-Hulk has been filming for 4 months and Jameela Jamil has tweeted that she has one more month of filming left. Although this may not definitively signal the end of production, it seems likely the entire production should end around that time as well.

Some stuff from the Disney+ Day about “She-Hulk”
FEAdsBsUUAI8VcT?format=jpg&name=900x900

Tatiana Maslany plays Jennifer Walters, a fun-loving, yoga-practicing, lawyer who specializes in superhuman-oriented legal cases. In the comics, Jennifer Walters inherits similar Hulk powers after she receives a blood transfusion from her green-skinned cousin Bruce Banner. Luckily for Walters, when she Hulks out, she maintains control of her personality and intelligence. Mark Ruffalo pops up in his super-smart “Professor Hulk” persona from “Avengers: Endgame” to teach his cousin how to control her transformations.
Tim Roth appears as Abomination.
Jameela Jamil, will reportedly play the super-strong villain Titania.
The rest of the cast includes Renee Elise Goldsberry, Ginger Gonzaga, and Josh Segarra.
Executive producer Kat Coiro and Anu Valia direct the series.
Jessica Gao is the head writer.

SHE-HULK (Disney+)
...
WHY IT EXCITES US: The only words we need to say here are “Tatiana Maslany,” right? The Orphan Black vet is captivating in every role she inhabits, and we’re curious to see her take on Jennifer Walters, Bruce Banner’s not-as-angry-but-just-as-green cousin, as the Marvel universe continues to expand on the small screen. And speaking of Bruce Banner, Mark Ruffalo’s appearance as the Hulk in the series — however brief it might ultimately be — will be a welcome visit from the MCU’s early days.

SERIES PREMIERE DATE: 2022

EXCLUSIVE: Tim Roth Confirms

Spoiler

Abomination Will Be Human Again

In Marvel’s ‘She-Hulk’
Dempsey Pillot January 28, 2022
The DisInsider article link

Spoiler

Roth will reprise his role as Emil Blonsky a.k.a Abomination in the series. Prior to a surprise appearance in last year’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Blonsky’s fate in the MCU was unknown. Despite a much friendlier demeanor in his brief cameo, it was evident that not much else had changed about him since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. In fact, he actually seemed to have evolved into a more comic book accurate version of the character.

For those who might not be aware or familiar with the comics, unlike Bruce Banner, Blonsky is unable to change back after transforming into Abomination. However, we now know for sure that the MCU’s version of Blonsky will make history by finally being able to revert to his human form.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with The DisInsider‘s Dempsey Pillot recently, while promoting his new film Sundown, Roth confirmed that fans can certainly expect to see a human version of Blonsky in the upcoming series.

More specifically, when asked if he would ever get his physical presence back in the MCU, Roth said, “Oh yeah!” without hesitation.
*  *  *
Additionally, Roth described his return as “weird,” which makes sense considering that a lot has changed in both the MCU and in the world of technology since 2008. He also went on to call series star Tatiana Maslany “a powerhouse,” before ultimately teasing that fans should expect to, “see a bit of everything in [it].”

You can listen to the full interview down below!
