Ms Lark December 6, 2018 Share December 6, 2018 Yeah. Cowboy Bebop is the gold standard against which all anime is judged! This is a big NOOOOO!!! Especially after what they did with Death Note. Double big NOOOOO!!! The horror. The horror. 2 Link to comment
tessaray December 6, 2018 Share December 6, 2018 I'm looking forward to it. Spaceships are always welcome on my television. The leaks about the pilot script make it sound like a pretty faithful adaptation, so basically it's going to come down to casting. For me, that's what will make it or break it. Anime is not my thing though. I was a Firefly fan, so I only watched CB because of that connection. 1 Link to comment

arc December 9, 2018 Share December 9, 2018 The casting for Spike alone is almost an insurmountable task by itself, especially because the martial arts demands of the role shrink the available pool. 3 Link to comment
cyberfruit December 10, 2018 Share December 10, 2018 It's too bad the old casting for a live action Bebop never got off the ground because Keanu Reeves would have been a perfect Spike. 4 Link to comment

Although, John Wick is a fair trade, since I'd probably have ended up being disappointed in the movie. 2 Link to comment

The music was as much a character in the show as anyone. While I loathe the whole idea for so many reasons, chief among them that imho no one can live up to Steven Blum's Spike, I do admit to thinking of a whole new audience being introduced to Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts as the only positive in a horrible idea. Lantern7 January 6, 2019 Share January 6, 2019 AVClub did a brief write-up on this low-budget take on Cowboy Bebop. If this makes it to TV, it'll probably pale to the anime. That's not too harsh, right? Link to comment

Morrigan2575 April 4, 2019 Share April 4, 2019 (edited) I'm intrigued Jet, Faye and Vicious have been cast, no word on Ed The show has also cast Mustafa Shakir (Marvel’s Luke Cage) as the aforementioned Jet, as well as Daniella Pineda (The Detour) as the bold bounty hunter Faye Valentine and Alex Hassell (the UK’s Bonkers) as Spike’s nemesis, Vicious. Christopher Yost (Thor: Ragnarok) will write Cowboy Bebop‘s first episode, while Alex Garcia Lopez (Marvel’s Daredevil) will direct the first two installments. Shinichiro Watanabe, who directed the original anime, will serve as a consultant on the live-action version Edited April 4, 2019 by Morrigan2575 Link to comment
xaxat April 4, 2019 Share April 4, 2019 John Cho was about as good as they could get for Jet. But a live action Bebop? I'm worried. 1 Link to comment
Lantern7 April 4, 2019 Share April 4, 2019 Was Faye "bold" in the anime? "Pain in the ass" was more like it, albeit a good foil for Spike. Has anyone Photoshopped green hair onto John Cho yet? 😜 Link to comment
tessaray April 4, 2019 Share April 4, 2019 I ❤️ John Cho but don't really know much about the others. Twitter seems happy with the cast though. Link to comment
Lantern7 April 5, 2019 Share April 5, 2019 Sharing two things: 1.Bleeding Cool: "‘Cowboy Bebop’: Did Live-Action Series Producers Forget Faye Valentine was Chinese?" Me: "How did I not know that"? I never really went for the big picture stuff. I liked the smaller, funnier episodes, as opposed to mytharcs. Also, we need to focus on bigger questions . . . like, "Is Spike's hair going to be green?" 2. The"So This is Basically" clip from JelloApocalypse on the anime. 1 Link to comment
Morrigan2575 April 5, 2019 Share April 5, 2019 (edited) Huh, I had no idea Faye was Chinese. Then again, I thought Spike was Jewish since his last name is Spiegel Edited April 5, 2019 by Morrigan2575 Link to comment

She was mostly comic relief, and it seemed obvious she had some degree of autism. I'm not sure if that could be played for laughs in live action. Ein? No problem. Find a cute Corgi that can look like he's okay with the drama of the humans. Bang. Done. Link to comment

Lantern7 October 7, 2019 Share October 7, 2019 (edited) An important actor visits the set. I'm thinking if there's an Ed here, she'd have to be CGI because her canon self would be too unique for an actress to play. Then again, I thought the same about Molly while reading Runaways. AnimeMania September 30, 2020 Share September 30, 2020 Amazon’s ‘The Lord Of The Rings’ Resumes Production In New Zealand, Netflix’s ‘Cowboy Bebop’ Next Production on Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop is slated to restart on Wednesday, Sept. 30, in New Zealand. Cowboy Bebop, an adaptation of the cult Japanese animated series, was a couple of episodes into shooting its first season last fall when it went on a 7-9-month hiatus following a knee injury sustained by lead John Cho on the set of the show in New Zealand. The space western hails from Tomorrow Studios, Marty Adelstein’s joint venture with ITV Studios; Midnight Radio (Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg); writer Chris Yost; and Sunrise, the studio behind the original series. Cowboy Bebop tells the jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of Spike Spiegel (Cho), an impossibly cool “cowboy” (bounty hunter) with a deadly smile, a wry wit and style to spare, and his ragtag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. 1 Link to comment
