I'm all for a carefully optimistic conclusion, but I agree the ending was disjointed. 2 Link to comment
HazelEyes4325 August 6, 2019 Share August 6, 2019 I was totally with this until they started downloading Edith. Honestly, I think the show would have been better off if she had died there in the Erstwhile site. I did kind of feel like they sort of ran out of steam in this episode in some ways. I mean, starting the revolution all seemed like an organic development, but little things--like the fact that Rook's speeches went from being in the vein of what we'd hear today to being verbatim what we would hear today--just seemed lazy. Overall, though, I enjoyed this series...although I would have really liked more Emma Thompson. 2 Link to comment
revbfc August 12, 2019 Share August 12, 2019 I was riveted and bummed out in equal parts…and then that last episode happened. Now I’m just frustrated that a show that went out of its way to show the world falling apart spent its last episode tying the whole thing up in a happy bow and leaving it at that. 1 Link to comment

Early in the show--or at least until late into the show--a lot of what Rook was peddling was unique to her: dropping an F-bomb on television, claiming that people were sending porn to 5 year olds through their phones (and, um, why do 5 year olds have phones?). While it is sort of in the realm of what we hear in the real world, the specifics didn't come directly from the real world. Yet, at the end of the show, Rook is claiming "fake news" and such, which is something that we hear regularly in reality. Edited September 1, 2019 by HazelEyes4325 Link to comment

SunnyBeBe January 23, 2021 Share January 23, 2021 I ‘m really late to the party on this one, but omg what a jewel of a series. So good! I’m sort of speechless.....it’s not just a great series, it’s a blessing. Just saw finale today. I’ll look forward to reading the posts on this thread. 2 Link to comment
aemom August 13, 2021 Share August 13, 2021 Just watched this series over the past week. Predicting the future was interesting and of course, nobody thought about something like Covid happening. The acting was fantastic and the show was well cast. The very end was a little weird, but overall it was excellent. 2 Link to comment

I mean, I guess Stephen was the only one who blamed him for Daniel's death, but...wowza. Also, Stephen is the absolute worst and the show does not hold back in showing us that! What bothered me was that they never confronted the root cause of the tragedy of Viktor and Daniel. The reason Viktor was so suddenly deported was because they caught him working illegally, but this was Ralph's doing. He found out where Viktor was working, went there and we see him taking a picture of Viktor with the sign of the place he worked. It was implied that he used it to report him to the authorities. And yet he was invited by the family to Daniel's remembrance party and they never found out. Every other person's secret was revealed during the series apart from Ralph's. 2 Link to comment
Anela November 3 Share November 3 I started watching this, several years back, and stopped a few episodes in. I watched them again last night, and am now on episode four. I’m really, going to need to watch something light, after this. I’m near the end of episode four, where they stole his passport. I keep thinking of the fact that Daniel never connected it to his ex. Link to comment
Anela November 3 Share November 3 Steven really blamed Viktor? Danny made a choice! Viktor said they could get off the boat. Danny chose to try to smuggle him out. Steven is just an ass. He wasn’t listening to his brother. He just didn’t want to hear it, so he didn’t hear that Danny would do anything to get Viktor back in the UK. Link to comment
