I turned it off a little after the start. I just can't take Caitlin anymore so when she started yelling at Thunderbird for not "rescuing Andy" even after knowing he attacked Lauren, I had just had enough. I haven't been liking the direction of this season at all anyway. I'll check back and see what others think. I'll also try next week, see if it feels better than this did for me. But definitely feeling like I'm nearing the end with this show.

Caitlin course corrected after she cooled down and hopefully that's the end of her Andy related madness for a while... Do nor trust the new mutant girl.. Her and Andy are  recipe for destruction... Enjoying blink and the morlocks.. The brand is a bit much.. Even if I understand the reasoning for it... Something I haven't liked is how dismissive both John and Marcos have been about them.. Some real "model minority" behavior.. Looking forward to Jace getting killed off... I keep thinking maybe the show is gonna try and redeem him.. But he just keeps slipping further and further into radicalization... So now he can just go

Marcos was kind of a jerk this episode. Turning his nose up at Erg and co and where they lived. I liked that lights girl more or less put him in his place about it. A sewer is better than a mutant prison/psych ward/concentration camp/etc. Though the branding is a bit much...

The Mutant Underground continues to disappoint me. Know how easy it would be to release tapes of random citizens (along with an ex government agent) harassing a mutant friendly clinic would be in that climate? People are already protesting in favor of mutants in the hundreds of thousands. That's easy funding for your clinic and others like yours. It also puts a target on the Purifiers' backs and makes it harder for them to harass people. But again, they literally do nothing! Say what you will about the inner circle, but at least they understand PR. Same as the X-men did ---who the MU claims to be taking over for.

I feel bad for John, but I'm glad that seeing him fall apart helped Caitlin course correct with her Andy obsession a bit.

I know she's crazy (Lorna all but smelled it on her), but I thought Rebecca and Andy were cute. He's been a lot more smiley and upbeat this season. It's a good look on him and the character. Please let them be crazy together. The mutant version of Spike and Drusilla.

I didn't understand Lauren and Reed's looks at the end. Are they gonna be the only members in the underground that can see both the good and the bad with the inner circle? Hell, even lights girl was wondering why Marcos was so hateful of them, and he couldn't even give her an answer outside of "my baby momma left me for them." Heck, even a "they're willing to kill and I am no longer alright with torture and killing" would've been a sufficient enough answer.

“Why did you lose Andy?!”  STFU Caitlyn.  HE DOESN’T WANT TO COME HOME.  I don’t care if she later backed down.  She is irritating.

Thank you show for continuing to put Jace on. I can FF and it makes the show that much shorter.  I have limited TV viewing time and every minute counts.

Erg = Bishop

Glow = Dazzler

Eclipse = Havok

Why they just couldn’t call them their proper names, I’m not sure.

Ugh, more flashbacks...that are awful. Stop with the flashbacks.

Wow they’ll do anything to get John’s shirt off. I’m not complaining, though.

Fuck the ex-sentinel services agent. He’s been downgraded. I’m not referring to him by name anymore.

Who’s the guest?

I may have already said this, but their refugee apartment looks like my first nice apartment. What the heck? I miss that apartment...

The girl with the light will definitely be important later in the season.

Andy still sucks. So the new mutant Rebecca can turn things inside out? What else can that apply to?

That Purifier meeting was awful. Fuck the ex-sentinel services agent.

So the Mutant Underground is super close to Washington D.C. I didn’t realize that.

Forgive me, I’m not familiar with the Morlocks leader. His powers are very much like Calypso. I thought Blink couldn’t blindly teleport?

Fuck the ex-sentinel services agent.

Well, branding the new Morlocks seems unnecessary.

“His lung function’s better, I think he’ll make it” is a clear lie. John must be stupid.

I hate the CNN surrogate. They seriously can’t use CNN?

Fuck the ex-sentinel services agent.

That affiliation branding is possibly the dumbest idea to borrow from X-Men: The Last Stand. There are complex reasons why marginalized groups of people would choose to try to redefine the words and tools of their oppressors. However, neither that movie nor this show are smart enough to truly explore those issues with any nuance. Furthermore, considering that X-Men and mutants have always been about civil rights, discrimination, and persecution perhaps don't start branding your characters who are allegories for all disenfranchised people. And definitely don't do it when you have your disenfranchised characters demand that other disenfranchised characters, who have been imprisoned and tortured for years, get branded or be turned out in the cold. I mean come the fuck on show!

If Lauren didn't know before now that Andy was Caitlyn's favorite, she certainly does now. No one kidnapped her fucking child. Her teenage son ran away. When his sister came to try to talk him into coming back, he injured his sister and could have killed her. Andy isn't being held prisoner. He isn't "lost." He doesn't need to be rescued. He's exactly where he wants to be. No one is saying that she needs to stop worrying about Andy and reaching out to him if she can (safely), but she has no right to put the lives of others in danger and blame everyone else when Andy doesn't come back.

Jace still suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.

Let's see a black mutant with the power to absorb and redirect energy and has a big M on his face.

Can you say Bishop?   https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bishop_(comics)

But, I guess the writers weren't going for that.

I was wondering that myself... Cuz I don't know Erg from the comics...

Erg predated Bishop by about 5 years, He was race swapped for this version.

It looks like The Gifted are following the MCU path shown on the Agents shows and NetFlix with the big names in the X-Men movies and the secondary characters being relegated to TV to avoid continuity issues while teasing an actual shared universe

Me: Okay, first Supergirl punched me in the face with its Very Special Issues episode. Then Black Lightning did its thing. Well, I'm sure that there's no more heavy-handed messages for the rest of the week. Now I'm gonna watch The Gifted . . .

The Gifted: We were off for one week. ONE WEEK. And you forgot what we're all about?!?

Yaaaaaaaay, Andy made a new friend! And she's a powerful mutant that's probably itching for payback for being locked up all these years. Yaaaaaaaaay!! I'm not sure how stuff can be turned inside-out, but it is a neat and dangerous ability. And, of course, she has no problem with messing up a police car for the "lulz." Were they even hunting for mutants? Then Andy needs littl convincing to blow the car up . . . because he's basically an idiot at this point. His parents should just give up. He was born stupid. That could never be changed.

So . . . Erg is from comics, but he's about the mark that Bishop brought to comics? Check. Yes, face-branding seems a bit extreme, though this seems to be a world of extremes. Well, bigger extremes than we have. Probably.

Hey, looks like Walking While Mutant is an arrest-worthy offense in this world. Man, that was a painful flashback. And Jace continues to compromise his morals. Right now, I'm thinking he eats a bullet at the end of the season. And it would be for a mutant because he Saw The Light [make Marcos joke here]. I like the show, but it feels predictable enough.

I say this as a Supergirl fan, but it's not that subtle.

Lorna isn't a 100% true believer.  Get ready for her to be a "tweener".  Her daughter, and Andy are causing her to rethink everything.  She didn't even have to say anything about it this episode, she doesn't really like the path Andy is headed down.  She's become his big sister, and she's worried about what the Inner Circle is doing to him.

So, now that Jace is an out and proud bigot palling around with hate groups and vigilantes, can some mutant put him down now? Ironically or a bullet to the brainpan, don't much care. I never liked that character and he's just a drag on everything.

Branding people? Really Erg? And it's that or they're out in the cold? Are we certain those escapee mutants couldn't do better? I mean, say what you will about their politics, but the Inner Circle doesn't require people to undergo mutilation for the privilege of living in a disgusting sewer.

Andy and Rebecca are cute together. I'm glad that he found a friend his age, and glad that he told off the triplets for treating Rebecca  as some plug-and-play weapon for their cause when she just escaped torture in a mental institution.

Props to the mutant who secreted acid. He was able to keep his head even as he was dying. Not that I would have objected to Thunderbird going out and cleaning the floors with the Purifiers' faces.

I want to stick with this show, but I find it very hard to watch shows whose plots depend on their characters making dumb choices, and other characters not stopping them.

"Hey, I'mma take this potentially dangerous mutant out for lunch at a sidewalk cafe."

How about "No?"

"Hey, wanna see me turn this cop car inside out?"

How about "No?"

"Hey, if you wanna stay here, you gotta let me brand your face."

How about "NO?"

Or...

Person A: *states dumb idea*

Person B: "No, that's a dumb idea."

A: *offers flimsy rationale*

B: "...Okay."

And yeah, the flashbacks and Jace can both stop existing at any time now.

Is there a possibility that Jace's dead daughter is not dead and is a mutant?

Its the type  of thing that happens.. But I don't know... Would be even more of a redemption arc then

So now Jace can finally admit that his isnt doing this has part of some crusade for his dead daughter, and that he is just a bigoted asshole. As other people said, why isnt an armed group of wackos beating up doctors at a free clinic all over the news? Mutant rights groups could use that to show that they're being hurt by these asshole, and not the other way around! I mean, it would be awesome if they could talk to some of the mutants who escaped the prison (I mean, a sweet, beautiful mutant with angel powers is an amazing spokesperson!) but at least get some video of some dicks being dicks! I hate Jace, I want him gone!

I can get why Caitlin wants to get Andry back. Andy is her kid, and his is young and impressionable, and has been through a lot. However, he also just knocked his sister unconscious, and left after yet another chance to come home. Her putting the hunt for Andy above everyone and anything (including her own daughter!) is just irritating as hell. However, she seems to have finally course corrected, and realized what she was doing when she was screaming at poor John. Also, big props to the nurse at the clinic, and the doctor, who told a bunch of armed domestic terrorists to kindly screw themselves, even with guns in their faces! Badass!

The recently sprung mutant girl is definitely crazy, but she seems like fun, and she and Andy were weirdly cute together. I mean, its hard to blame her for being unstable after going through all of that, but I dont see this ending well. But I would totally get into Andy and Rebecca having teenage superpower mischief.

I imagine it'll only last until they get another glimpse of Andy and then it'll ramp up ten-fold. If Lauren getting injured by Andy wasn't enough to deter Caitlin from her Andy obsession, I doubt this does either. Even though she was apologetic toward John, Caitlin has been very one track minded when it comes to Andy, and I really don't believe she's accepted that Andy has chosen his side. She hasn't even said that what Andy did was wrong and inexcusable, and she hasn't talked to Lauren yet, so I'm not jumping up and down for joy yet.

I fast forwarded through everything Jace so I have no idea what his storyline really is and what his feelings on mutants still are, nor do I care. If they attempt to bring him together with the mutants to work together, though, I'll be pissed. Why are we wasting time on this guy, again?

So, Andy gets a girlfriend in Rebecca, I think hr name is. I see she's going to be a bad influence on Andy as much as he is going to be the same on her. I'm not convinced they aren't going to redeem him by the end of this season. He's already shown doubts toward the really troubling behaviour, but he's also not condoning the behaviour. Plus, with Reeva recruiting Rebecca for her powers, it seems like these two teenagers are on the road to a likely redemption. Plus, Percy isn't having Andy act like he's all in for Reeva's plan. He's having doubts, much like Lorna, but he's also slipping further into a point of no return. So we'll see what brings him back to the good side. At least Lorna looks concerned over Andy, especially with Rebecca in the picture.

The stuff with Clarice and the Underground leader is interesting. It's clear she's going to join them by the end of the season. I also see them starting a love triangle with Marcos and New Light Girl (whose name I never caught). But they have some chemistry together, so I ain't mad.

Eclipse = a weaker/older Sunspot. They couldn't use Sunspot, bc he's in New Mutants. So they just used a part of his background (unless Marcos isn't idr) and half of his powerset (Sunspot also has super strength)

The whole of the MU (minus Reed and sometimes Lauren) seems to be under the impression that they're friends are being influenced/forced to be their instead of believing they made an informed, rational decision to be more forceful in their quest for mutant rights.  If they're honest, Lorna and Andy are acting very much in their character, right down to their reluctance to kill/hurt people without reason.

Too much time wasted on Jace, limit his screen time or kill him, if I am Andy, I am sure don't want to be rescued and be returned to my irritating mom, I can handle myself, I can disintegrate anything. :>

Blink, Polaris, Thunderbird, Erg, Dreamer, Fenris, Reeva, Cuckoos were in the comics, the rest (Eclipse, Andy, Lauren, Reed) were invented on this show.

Rebecca is "Twist", do we know if Andy & Lauren have a monicker?
