  1. See, this is why I couldn't be a starship captain in the Union or Star Trek's Federation. If some primitive culture took two of my people hostage, I'm going in hot. I don't give a damn what the admirals say. We're coming down in force with as many armed shuttles or transporters as we can manage, we're breaking out the top of the line weapons and armor, and we're showing these screwheads why they don't pick a fight with an advanced species, first contact protocol be damned. I'd be the guy who stood before the admirals over the smoking ruins of those camps (or maybe the capitol) and dare the motherfuckers to court-martial me for rescuing my people. That all being said, the solar sail was a clever idea. Good for Kelly and Bortus trying to fight their way out. Too bad they couldn't kill that sadistic Warden on their way out. It occurs to me that Union leadership is about as useful as an asshole on the elbow. They never back their people and only exist to throw obstacles in the Orville's path when they need to rescue their own.
  2. Lately it feels like something of a chore to watch this show. Still, I did like the part where Caitlin and Erg opened up on the Purifiers. The show has done a good job of making the Purifiers into hate-sinks so I'm glad when they get shot or energy-blasted or whatever. Speaking of Purifiers, Jace wasn't around! That's two episodes in a row. Come on show producers, I know you can keep this streak going. If we get enough episodes without Jace, making the producers will be able to quit that character completely. So Reed is injecting Lauren with his medicine to keep Andy and the Cuckoos out of her head. I wonder what happens when they run out of medicine? I don't think they've solved the problem so much as delayed it. Speaking of, I would hope that Reed is continuing to train in the use of his powers. Just in case. That part when what was left of the Mutant Underground told John and Marcos to piss off, that seemed real to me. It'd be different if John and Marcos had come to them with a concrete plan but just yelling "Never give up! Never surrender! The X-Men trusted us!" isn't going to do it after all the Ls they've been taking lately.
  3. So I'm mostly just resigned to this show by now, but at least Lauren was kind of badass, even if her mother is horrible. So let me get this straight show. I'm supposed to feel bad for the kid-killing cop because he'll be a "cop in prison", and I'm supposed to feel bad because Jace lied to cover the asshole and felt guilty about it? Is that what we're going with here? Because if the cops do any investigation they'll find what Jace figured out about this being an execution, not self-defense. And quite frankly, I'd be more than happy if the kid-killer and Jace wound up in prison and something horrible happened to them. Also, the cop never thought that associating with a violent hate group might land his crooked cop ass in jail? Moron. I don't get Lorna's desperation. This is the world she fought for. Why is she so upset that Reeva is recruiting more terrorists to her terrorist organization? And why haven't the triplets figured out that Lorna's wavering? Erg obviously has a thing for Blink, but good for him not involving the Morlocks in her war. I did like that part where Marcos critiqued her code name and she shot back with his. Paula...run lady. Keep running. Don't look back! So Reeva and Ryan are working together? Dun dun...don't care. Except it kind of makes me think less of Reeva since I thought she was pure in her anti-human convictions. Props to the other kid for really rubbing in Jace's face the fact that he's hanging with the same sort of bigots and assholes who hounded both of their ancestors.
  4. I think the funniest line of the night for me was when Blink teleported the researcher into the trunk and Marcos is just like "Hey don't ask me, I just work here." I can't say as I blame Rebecca for wanting to ice the whole Inner Circle. They locked her in that rotating hell, I'd be pissed too. I did think her death was too abrupt though. And wow, Reeva is not good at motivating people if Andy's first reaction after that talk is to go jailbreak his girlfriend. I felt bad for Noah at the end there, though the sections with Reed just didn't grab me that much. Jace is there? Crap. Couldn't Rebecca have twisted him before she died? So the whole mutant control system was locked in one place with no backups, and is now trashed beyond repair so every mutant who's ever had a gripe against the dystopic anti-mutant system is now free to vent that anger. Well, this is a design flaw that I feel could have been foreseen and planned for. The upside is that this season would be redeemed if the guy who set that prison guard on fire by snapping his fingers were turned loose on Purifier HQ, Jace, and the newscaster asshole.
  5. So this happened. I didn't know Reeva had anything close to a heart. She looked genuinely broken when her lover got killed. Maybe she should have thought of that when she recruited Rebecca. The girl is unstable at the best of times and we've just learned she does not take insults well. Though I kind of have to fault that bank teller too. I mean, how dumb are you to mouth off to a bunch of mutant-powered bank robbers like you're some kind of badass? When Esme cooed to the baby about it being her very first bank heist, I'll admit, I chuckled. Blink's not exactly wrong. The Mutant Underground has pretty much been spiraling into irrelevance. I don't get what Eclipse and Thunderbird have against the Morlocks other than they live in a sewer. Reed. Blah blah, boring. Jace: Why couldn't he have been in the bank when Rebecca went psycho on the place? The only good news we learned tonight is that his wife finally wised up and put a no-contact order in place. Seriously, the woman can do so much better and I'm glad she realized that.
  6. So now we add murderer to Jace's list of charming qualities. Great. Why couldn't Shatter have killed him on his way out? Reeva's not good at managing people, is she? Good thing she has the triplets, or more specifically, Esme. I did think it was stupid for a supposed master manipulator like Esme to slip up with the lullaby, but at least we got some backstory on her and she plays well off Lorna. Andy and Rebecca playing video games together was pretty sweet. Not so sweet? What Rebecca does to people she doesn't like. Caitlin can shut up now. And is anyone noticing that Lauren's displaying a bit of ticking time-bomb vibe this season? See, this is what happens when you skip training day Reed!
  7. I don't exactly blame Maggie for wanting to pledge the sorority. I mean, she never asked to be a witch in the first place, so putting aside everything in her life for it would, for me, feel unrealistic. Plus it's an escape from the sisterhood issues. I liked how the Harbinger was all eye-rolley and sarcastic while pretending to be Angela.
  8. So, now that Jace is an out and proud bigot palling around with hate groups and vigilantes, can some mutant put him down now? Ironically or a bullet to the brainpan, don't much care. I never liked that character and he's just a drag on everything. Branding people? Really Erg? And it's that or they're out in the cold? Are we certain those escapee mutants couldn't do better? I mean, say what you will about their politics, but the Inner Circle doesn't require people to undergo mutilation for the privilege of living in a disgusting sewer. Andy and Rebecca are cute together. I'm glad that he found a friend his age, and glad that he told off the triplets for treating Rebecca as some plug-and-play weapon for their cause when she just escaped torture in a mental institution. Props to the mutant who secreted acid. He was able to keep his head even as he was dying. Not that I would have objected to Thunderbird going out and cleaning the floors with the Purifiers' faces.
  9. I'm loving how Sam's bridal party just completely ditched the bitchzilla. Followed by her wedding planner and now even her groom. She just can't seem to process the fact that she has to be nice to people to get them to do what she wants. The little segments where she talks about how she needs her wedding planner for this and that, or how screwed she is without someone's help, and then immediately acts like a mega-bitch afterwards are so telling. She just can't turn it off! The cryzilla was boring. As for the social media bride, what a joke. She honestly seems to think that if doesn't happen on social media it doesn't happen at all. And her childish little threat to the officiant that she would destroy him on social media? Please.
  10. Round 2. Is it just me or do the grooms have a bit more spine than in previous seasons? Payton throwing out Michelle's clothes, then hopping in his friend's pickup and just leaving when she and her mother were ganging up to bitch at him was awesome. Same with Isaiah standing his ground on his groomsman and flat-out telling Carmen that it's not just her day and he would have his friend there or there'd be no wedding. I could get behind this trend of grooms standing up to their bitchy zillas! My only complaint was that Isaiah caved at the last minute. Make her stand at the altar alone and embarrassed. That would have been awesome!
  11. Yay it's back! I have missed these tacky, trifling zillas. So Natashia? Bitch or mega bitch? She had no sympathy for her aunt who was undergoing emergency amputation because "it's my day!" She cursed out her own mother for being at her aunt's side instead of hers for a dress fitting and for daring to try and eat at her rehearsal dinner. Even at the wedding she bitched about someone being allergic to a bee sting and having to be taken out in an ambulance. There was no pleasing this woman and I feel bad for the poor sucker she roped in. Carmen was a total drama queen. Oh noes! Your makeup artist might be busy during wedding season of all times! It's not like the woman wasn't going to show for the wedding, just that she'd be a little late. And of course, the drunk look with her boobs out, shrieking outside a club, always such a classy touch.
  12. They might have gone to the fifties because it's hard to imagine a Dark Ages police state. For a season finale, this one was okay. I mean, they hit the totalitarian police state notes well I thought. But I was stuck wondering how Nicole wound up in charge of this world just because she kept her memories of the other one. I don't know, but I thought that the resolution would be more climatic than "We really believe the Library exists". I thought they'd do something with Nicole's amulet or something more dramatic to change the world back. I'm not entirely certain why Flynn remembered everything perfectly and Eve struggled. But at least, despite the antics in the asylum, he wasn't the one true answer to everything. The others got to do things and be important in the rescue. I thought they were going for something where either Flynn and Nicole would do the tethering, or Nicole would wind up as the new Guardian to the Librarians. It was like everything was rushed at the end. This one could have benefited from being a two-parter I think.
  13. Usually the Librarians is fairly goofy fun, but I have to admit, when they go dark, they do go dark. I'm not entirely sure I follow how Nicole set everything up. Dips a bit into timey-wimey stuff. But her actress absolutely nailed smug condescension and cold triumph in the last ten minutes of the show. That said, the Library was extremely dickish in how it railroaded its' Librarians and then expected them to fall in line after killing Jenkins. I didn't really blame any of them from flipping it the bird and walking away. Check out the big brain on Eve, tricking the Library like that with the Eye. I hope they're not setting this up so that Flynn gets to save the day. I mean, I can see where they would, but I like Stone, Ezekiel, and Cassandra better.
  14. Nice finale. Can't say as I blame Lorna for blowing up that plane, though I am surprised the show had the courage to show a U.S. Senator getting killed. I think Lorna has been building towards this all season so it was good to get some payoff there. As for Andy going with her and the Frosts, well, that's been building too. I did like the part where Marcos stepped up and told the triplet that she'd shut her damn mouth or he'd kill her. Speaking of Marcos, I do feel bad for him that Lorna's basically taken their kid off on her crusade. Bye Jace! Go away and don't come back! He adds nothing to the show and is an active detriment.
  15. So Dreamer's abuse of her trust causes Blink to leave the Underground, and she's not summarily drummed out in disgrace? Why? Polaris is right in that the kids need training to control their powers. Although, maybe she shouldn't start with saw blades to the face? That might help. Ease them into it. Not all training has to start with the makeshift Danger Room on 11. While Polaris is right that this is their new normal, Caitlyn's school could be used to teach them practical things like first aid and emergency surgery. She is a nurse, right? So Jace is ready to throw constitutional rights out the window and no one in his office stood up and told him to sit the hell down and shut up? Why? Grief doesn't let him get away with that, and it seems like a political storm waiting to happen. I feel no sympathy for this asshole.
