Graham's 24th season will premiere on September 28, 2018 on BBC One.

Quote

Graham is joined by multi Oscar-nominated Bradley Cooper and pop superstar Lady Gaga, together in the hotly anticipated musical romance A Star is Born; Broadchurch star Jodie Whittaker, about to begin her new incarnation on BBC1's Doctor Who; double Oscar-nominee Ryan Gosling, playing astronaut Neil Armstrong in biopic First Man; the Rod Stewart, who performs his current single Didn't I.

I usually find Ryan Gosling entertaining on talk shows, but he was acting like he didn't want to be there and someone forced him on anyway last night.

Jodie Whittaker was a delight, which gave me a good feeling about tomorrow's Dr. Who worldwide debut.

Is it just me, or is Bradley Cooper getting much, much hotter as he ages?

I don't know whether or not Gosling's silence reflected an unwillingness to be there, but I think it was one of those episodes where there were too many guests on the sofa, and someone was going to get left out of the conversation. Lady Gaga acting in her first movie, which is also the first one directed by Bradley Cooper (and to my knowledge, the first one in which he sings), provides a lot more discussion material than Gosling's movie about Armstrong. Perhaps it would have been different if Claire Foy had been there as well to contribute to the discussion about the Armstrong movie. Add in the novelty of the first female Dr. Who, which of course will be the most interesting part for a British audience, and it just seemed like Ryan Gosling was superfluous this time.

Kudos to whomever makes Rod Stewart's wig. Quality craftsmanship,  that.

I was very distracted by Gaga's botoxed upper lip. God, that looks uncomfortable.  And I wonder if it affects her singing.

Jodie was a hoot. "Warty teat" indeed!

I thought Ryan Gosling just had a very dry sense of humor. I enjoyed him. But I do agree that he seemed superfluous. That's nothing against him, of course.

I bet Lady Gaga went out and bought herself a theremin. Expect to hear it on her next album.

When he was on promoting that Blade Runner flick with Harrison Ford, I thought his taciturnity was him trying to match Ford's famous talk-show-surliness. I think he started out with that schtick, but he loosened up a bit as the hour went on.

Yeah, Ryan Gosling is a bit hard to pin down -- I never particularly enjoy his anecdotes but he inadvertently set up Greg Davies perfectly with the "fecal Jackson Pollock" comment and clearly loved Greg's story.  The only time he's really been interesting on his own was when Graham pulled out the video of his tween dance recital on the episode with Emma Stone.  That episode was probably his best showing generally, Emma's energy provided a perfect counterpoint to his deadpan.

Whoa yeah what in the hell did Lady GaGa do to her face this time. Man, that hurt to look at, she couldn't move her face AT ALL.  She is too young to be doing that. I loved Miss Jodie and she killed it in the new Dr. Who....I am a first time watcher of Who and am in now FOREVER.  It was a great show, but let's face it, Gossling is just a twat.

I didn't think Gosling was so bad. Graham had to push him a bit, but I don't mind that he's a bit more laconic than most. At least he's not hostile like Harrison Ford has been, which I find super annoying. The guy is being paid a fortune and acts like having to do press (an admittedly tedious part of the job) is such a burden. Ugh.

I love the theremin. It's so cheesy/campy/spooky/poignant all at the same time.

Jodie Whittaker was delightful. Her suit was AMAZING.

LOL. I was relieved I didn't have to listen to him butcher the American songbook as he's done in the past. I did love that he goosed Graham when they hugged. Hee. (Rod does seem like a handful, though. His wife must be very patient.)
