Ooooh - poor Vic! Shot in the knee and loses her baby!?

I want to see Walt emerge triumphant! I didn't care for the downbeat mood of last season, and it looks like they're continuing with it this year - get up out of the doldrums!!!

One thing I never thought I'd see: Walt Longmire singing show tunes! Okay, maybe reciting is a more accurate description, but still. But I did think that the way he was grasping at any topic to keep Vic conscious was realistic.

I did feel a little bit sorry for Travis in this episode. He did not deserve Walt's ire because he was right - Vic tricked him. As Mr. EB said, Billy Riggins may be brave and have a good heart, but he's not always the smartest. He tried to contact Walt but again, WALT HAS NO CELL PHONE so he had to find out that Vic was shot by listening to the police scanner.

I feel like this season they've really made an effort to show Ferg being a smart and hardworking cop so that they can have Walt retire and have Ferg take over for him at some point. Poor Meg. Not exactly the same situation, but my grandmother had dementia so sometimes she would wander off and then the police would call us to say that they found her somewhere. It's hard when, whatever the reason, an older relative changes and can't always be reasoned with.

I was surprised that Mathias was willing to let Ferg even try to get Meg's mom out of the car. Despite his excuse that they wanted to avoid a scene in the casino, I think it's a sign that Mathias has softened towards the sheriff's department since S1.

The costumes that Mrs. Joyce made for Meg and herself were SO cute! What a sweet mom.

I had to laugh at poor Henry listening to Travis ranting about what a nice guy he is.

Further proof that Henry >>>>>>> Nighthorse was the Red Vines vs. Twizzlers.

The whole time that Vic was wandering around the hospital by herself or even just sleeping in her hospital room, I kept expecting someone from Chance Gilbert's family to try to get to her.

I don't know why Vic put the paternity test through the lab. You can buy kits online and do them at home so that you won't get in trouble for using police resources for your personal stuff.

I appreciate that they have been letting us see old characters like Jamie and Bob one last time before the show ends. Bob's unofficial Uber (with the "Hector lives" still visible on the side of his car) cracked me up.

The depiction of the little girl vanishing as Vic opened her arms to her was a beautiful, heartbreaking, and true depiction of miscarriage to me. We often say that a woman "lost a baby" but to me it felt bigger than that; it's the loss of a future as a mother to a particular child. Vic saying that she didn't feel alone while she was pregnant also rang true, as did Vic's initial desire to not make any arrangement for the remains only to later have questions that could no longer be answered because of that initial decision.

I almost didn't watch the episode because I thought the story might take this turn but I'm glad I did. It really worked for me, and felt like a truthful depiction of an experience many women have that is not often explored as fully as it was here.

The trailer showed Vic skinny as a rail so it was a given that she'd lose the baby.  Her meltdown at the end was really heartbreaking and that's saying a lot because I really don't care for her.  Travis is a doofus but I did feel sorry for him - he's been devoted and caring and she didn't even call him.  With that said, in times of extreme trauma, it's understandable when people just withdraw and want to stay in bed with their covers over their head.

It looks like they are pairing Walt and Victoria. Please NO!

They do seem to be dropping anvils all over our heads with Walt's devotion to All Things Vic right now. I only hope it's a red herring because I really do not want them together.  They, to me, have always had a father/daughter vibe - no chemistry as lovers.

Poor Henry, he's going to be wearing wounds the whole rest of the season at this rate!

Poor Vic. Katee Sackoff has been stellar in this story, especially the final scene where Vic breaks down and cries on Walt's lap. Her grief, guilt, and exhaustion was heartbreaking to watch. I still think that the pregnancy story would have been better if the baby was Walt's. The show missed some good drama there. It would have given Robert Taylor something to do other than emote and be stoic in emotional scenes. The view from Walt's cabin will never stop being stunning.

Travis is so freaking annoying. I cannot even feel bad for him. Like Vic, I just want him to go the hell away. I keep wondering if Eammon was supposed to be the baby's father, but the actor wasn't available to return because his disappearance is odd and Travis as the potential father by flashback feels like an afterthought.

I am just loving Henry and Jacob together. Their bickering and an unexpected partnership is entertaining. I like Mathias checking on Henry.

Meg is great. Ferg is very sweet with her. Her mother's racist rants shouldn't be funny, but the actress has great comedic timing so it works.

Jamie's entrepreneurial "uber" and Ferg telling him that the first ride when he demanded payment was free cracked me up. The whole thing was so Jamie.

I do have to be a tiny bit sympathetic to Travis.  Vic really let him wait on her and go with her to appointments.  She should have nipped that in the bud but then, I guess, there wouldn't be a story.  I do wonder if we'll ever find out who the father was. Having a couple of blood types may not be all that helpful since she wouldn't know Eamonn's.

Jamie....love Jamie.  What can you say?  He is such a doofus!

I have a soft spot for Travis, despite all his dimness about boundaries. He has been there for Vic, even if it's a bit much most of the time. He seems to have a good heart, despite everything.

I may have misunderstood what you meant about the flashback being an afterthought, but Travis has been one of the two possible fathers from the first time Vic's pregnancy was mentioned, if I recall correctly.

I think SimoneS was referring to adding in that flashback to explain a possible second father if the Eamonn actor was not available.  It certainly did seem to come out of nowhere since Vic had been downright dismissive to Travis up until she did the rodeo act with him.  Wonder if Mom was home that night?  Would have LOVED to have seen her pull out her video camera on that one!

I agree that Vic should have never let him go to that appointment with her, but he was insistent inserting himself in to her life and she was probably feeling a bit vulnerable.

I think I'm confused about the flashback(s)? Are we referring to one in this episode (which I've clearly forgotten), or one in the original Vic is pregnant episode?

I mean last season's episode where Travis finds the pregnancy test strips and we got the flashback of Vic and Travis playing cowgirl lassoing the bull. There was never any hint before that Vic had slept with him. She was always annoyed with him and dismissive of him pursuing her.

A Thing I'll Never Understand is a good title for this because it sort of sums up the whole Travis thing.  She couldn't stand him but slept with him and then let him cater to her which is so out of her tough-as-nails character.  Then to just dump him without a word was downright mean.  I realize she was traumatized but a phone call would have been a decent thing to do for a guy who fed you and kept track of your vitamins!

Oh, okay,  now I get it! Sorry for being so dense. I do remember thinking that was random last season as well.

I could have dealt with a one-sided phone call where Vic tells Travis goodbye, but it seems clear that the show want him gone as fast as I did.

I'm not a Vic fan but this was a pretty well written and acted episode and seemed realistically portrayed.  It showed Vic in a different light and the acting was good.

Really enjoyed Henry being the quipster.  And Jacob offering Henry a Red Vine or two because the trip to Cheyenne was going to be long, haha.  Even funnier was Henry saying he was a Twizzler guy.

The worst part of this season is that I am focusing a lot of attention on hoping that the show doesn't go down the Vic/Walt romance trail.  I could not stand that, and really wish I didn't have to spend so much time hoping the next scenes will not show them getting together.  If they have to go that route please make it the very last episode to reduce the time I have have to gag.

And the many times already mentioned that Walt is out of it - him saying that the baby actually saved her life, does not seem that comforting to to say to someone in the throes of grief over losing their baby, given that most parents would rather of had the baby live than them.

Agree, KS did  a great job depicting the grief from a miscarriage, and the feelings for the baby she didn't even meet.

A couple of things I didn't understand in the ep:

  • Who sent the barn and farm animals?  Who else even knew she was pregnant? Or where she lived for that matter.
  • Why was Vic able to walk right after being shot in the leg?  They had her limping from a sprained ankle or something for several episodes, and here she is after surgery and a miscarriage walking all over the place.
  • If Walt is worried about the family coming after her, why wasn't it ever mentioned again once he moved her to his ranch?

I too am dreading the inevitable Walt/Vic union, which I also hope will be in the very last episode.

It seemed weird to me that Cady hadn't visited or checked on Vic, but maybe I missed that.

Lord, yes to this.  Although the writers keep raining anvils on our head about this. I only hope that they are faking us out.  All of the soulful looks and sobbing and hand holding gives me the icks.

KS did do a great acting job in her scenes, though.

The note said something about her having as good a time playing with it as "I did with my daughter" or something like that.  So I assumed it was from Vic's  mom.

Always one of the "tough guy" TV things. In real life, no way she'd be doing that.

Apparently Walt thinks his place is in a magic bubble or something.  He sheltered Henry there as well.  It's not like the location is secret. Maybe because it's out in the open and would be hard to sneak into?

Not a Wic fan. I know they were together in the books but they are way different here.  I don't see the chemistry, just Vic making moon eyes at Walt up until now like she's got a crush on him.

I 100% agree with the sentiment that Vic and Walt should not hook up.  Please no!  Travis doesn't bother me as I've seen good ole boys before with not much knowledge about the opposite sex.  They mean well but not too bright but harmless though.  Vic however is a relationship tornado tearing through partners and is very immature.  Good cop though.  But there is a serious ick factor with the Walt and Vic pairing.  Why does the male lead always have to be with someone at least 20 yrs younger?
