Despite the terrible circumstances the Thanksgiving holiday and the day after are the best days on this show.

Although I was hoping they would wait till after Thanksgiving or even before to kill off Doug. Instead of having this be a reminder every year that Doug died on Thanksgiving. (I already have New Years Day ruined in RL)

I mean can't there be one day on this show that isn't depressing to watch?

Julie’s world falls apart.

Oh shit.

Here we go.

Edit:

As crappy as it is to have his passing occur on Thanksgiving, I suppose from a production standpoint it makes some sense. With family visiting, is the show going to spend money having guest stars on Thanksgiving AND "back" for his funeral/memorial days later? Why not sandwhich both events, as they do with couple weddings?

I'm not saying it's fun for us but...

Very valid. The holiday "Death Tree" is already a bit grim, though not intended to be. Every wedding ends in shouting if not kidnapping, explosions and murder. Every baby is either a result of rape or infidelity, or born prematurely.

This show hasn't done Happy well in quite some time.

GH made the decision to kill off a premature baby on Christmas so this feels relatively tame to me to kill off a character who was 98 years old on Thanksgiving.

I don't know, in real life I had a friend who died of an overdose when we were 27 years old the day after Thanksgiving so this just isn't going to bother me much. Death doesn't stop just because it's your birthday or a holiday.

That I get but I would've done it after Thanksgiving before Christmas but in a way it does makes sense loved ones die around the holidays as much as it sucks. This also coincides with Susan's 56th anniversary on the show in Mid December.
