Isn't hiding from process servers going to make running the cult awkward?

The cult seems to be helping him hide.  According to the article, the summons was delivered to all of the many Scientology headquarters and, in every case, security denied he was there and no one was willing to sign to accept service on his behalf.  Seems like he's still running the cult without problems.

Does anyone know how it’s explained that a member is supposed to stay clear of subversives, even children, but they can associate with people on the movie set, celebrity colleagues, etc.  I’m referring to Cruise, allegedly not seeing his daughter for  years, yet he seems to have great rapport with many other people who are not Scientologists.

That's because Cruise is supposed to be recruiting to the cause.  He hangs out on movie sets and people love him and the idea is that some of those people will like him enough to want to find out more about Scientology and he can get them into the cult.

When it comes to Suri, she is considered a 'suppressive person' because she is being raised by her mother, Katie Holmes.  Katie, of course, is a major suppressive person because she had the audacity to marry Cruise but never bought into Scientology completely and, in fact, secretly planned to escape the marriage and the cult with her child.  So, Cruise cannot see Suri because she is essentially considered a bad influence.

This is also part of the mindset that caused him to prevent Nicole Kidman from having access to their adopted children after the divorce.  She wasn't a Scientologist, she might say or do something that was against Scientology teachings, therefore, she couldn't see them.
