Athena December 5, 2016 Share December 5, 2016 Quote Graham is joined by Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence and Jurassic World star Chris Pratt who both star in sci-fi romantic thriller Passengers. Plus singer Will.i.am and celebrity chef, restaurateur and activist Jamie Oliver. With music from Emeli Sande, who performs Breathing Underwater. Link to comment
Bruinsfan December 11, 2016 Share December 11, 2016 That "drink and hope I don't say anything silly on national TV. [gulp] Oh well." bit had me laughing harder than anything on Saturday Night Live last night. Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt were both made for Graham's talk format! Link to comment
dubbel zout December 11, 2016 Share December 11, 2016 Will.i.am was kind of a dud. He needed Miriam Margolyes. Hee. I liked Jennifer Lawrence's befuddlement about 3-D printers. Her reaction to hearing about Jamie Oliver reading the Hunger Games book was so sweet. And what a great story. Emeli Sande has an amazing voice. 4 Link to comment
attica December 12, 2016 Share December 12, 2016 I love Sande. I wish she'd make a splash over here. I kind of wanted Graham to ask Will where he left his llama, given his getup. But I say that with affection. I loved Will's getup, and I kind of covet that poncho. "I'm not a detective!" when the Red Chair person was cagey about her employment details delighted me. I mean, really, people, you volunteered for this! And you know what Graham asks everybody, so if you don't want to out yourself, prepare a quip or a lie! Link to comment
maraleia December 12, 2016 Share December 12, 2016 Jennifer has the cultural sensitivity of a gnat. Her story about the Hawaii stones was offensive as fuck. 1 Link to comment
raezen December 12, 2016 Share December 12, 2016 When you hear nothing but how charming your verbal diarrhea is for 5 years you probably come to expect a lot of leeway. 3 Link to comment
califred December 12, 2016 Share December 12, 2016 Why she chose to share that story about Hawaii which from what I read got her in a lot of hot water when it happened is beyond me. I've recently moved here and wow talk about culturally insensitive on her part. Link to comment
Quof December 12, 2016 Share December 12, 2016 The "hot water" happened after she told the story on Graham, no one knew about it until then. Link to comment
MissLucas December 12, 2016 Share December 12, 2016 This is the second time I saw Lawrence on the show and I think she fared much better than last time. I had the impression that somehow Pratt was a calming influence. Link to comment
kat165 December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 I thought Lawrence was rather subdued for her. Although I didn't hear the Hawaii story because I fell asleep right when the camel dude came on. I woke up during the song portion. :) Btw, I did not understand the punchline of the first red chair story. Does anyone remember enough of it that they can explain? Link to comment
attica December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 The original riddle was "How do you circumcise a whale?" When she tried to tell the joke later, she answered the question with "You send down five skin divers." The correct answer should have been "You send down foreskin divers." Geddit? Four/Fore? Geddit? 1 Link to comment
Bruinsfan December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 I somehow missed the Hawaii story, though I don't recall leaving the room while the show was on. What happened? Link to comment
dubbel zout December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 Did the Hawaii story make it into the BBCA version of the show? Because I don't remember it, either. 2 Link to comment
sugarbaker design December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 I missed it too, and I watched the whole show on BBCAmerica. 1 Link to comment
kat165 December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 Thank you, Attica. You tell it much better. :) Or maybe it helps to see the words written rather than spoken. What was the Hawaii story? Maybe BBCA did cut it out. And here I thought I'd been napping and that's why I missed it. 1 Link to comment

The Red Chair lady also put the emphasis on the wrong syllables, which made it a little tricker. Edited December 13, 2016 by dubbel zout 2 Link to comment
kat165 December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 Now I'm baffled as to why she didn't get yanked. :) (or whatever the handle pulling is called) Link to comment
FormerMod-a1 December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 I think because she was just so clueless. 1 Link to comment
dubbel zout December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 The joke itself isn't terrible. 2 Link to comment
attica December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 Here's the background of the Hawaii story, which did indeed get snipped from the BBCA air. She has since apologized. 1 Link to comment
kat165 December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 Thanks, attica. Interesting. I understand about the disrespect, no excuses for it. But I am wondering if this is just another example of Lawrence's bad timing, inappropriate behavior, obliviousness, etc. It's often hard to tell if she just has chronic foot-in-mouth disease/can't read a room or if she just doesn't give a shit who she offends. 1 Link to comment

Depending on situations, it could be both. I don't think she's an offensive person generally, but there are times when she seems to really not care. However, I think she often speaks without thinking. Link to comment
sum December 14, 2016 Share December 14, 2016 From what I remember nobody was too bothered on the original show. In fact, Graham, the co-guests and the audience all enjoyed it a lot, which is why it was featured as one of the highlights on its official Youtube channel. I didn't find the story itself funny anyway but then also felt it was inappropriate. Eh, maybe I'm being oversensitive. Just now I learned that was what caused the recent controversy. So it wasn't a case of not being able to read the room. She probably thought she was just her usual mischievous self like in many of her anecdotes. Not that it makes it ok though. She has her charms but could be too crude and ignorant to the outside of her bubble. 1 Link to comment

I didn't hear it/couldn't tell exactly what it was (or if the others reacted otherwise), but when Graham turned back he said "Jennifer Lawrence says you can walk" and then didn't flip her.
