clearly toxic sociopath

umm, yeah.  Does Walter even want her "help?"  And isn't she just a genius radar?!  Just ewwww.  Super Fun Guy balloon was the redeeming moment.

Was the horrible mom supposed to make us feel for Paige? And the horrible mother became team Walter out of nowhere based on what? They showed nothing from Paige for her mom to come to that conclusion.

This show needs to end all the Walter/Paige nonsense. Tim and Walter were far more entertaining to watch together.

As a grifter, the mom can read people.   She didn't need that gift with Tim, who was blunt that he cared about Paige and wouldn't help with her.    See could see Walter could be easily manipulated to help her if it meant an avenue to getting Paige back.

Oh, thank god, you are all my people! I had never even thought to check if there was a forum for this, but this week's ep finally pushed me to it. I was *cringing* at Cabe trying to guilt Paige into inviting her mom to their holiday celebration. 'But they're FAMILY' is one of the absolute worst tropes out there - there's a reason some people choose to disengage from relatives, and no one should make them feel bad about it.

And if I never ever ever hear another word about Walter and Paige, I could die a happy woman... It's like literal anti-chemistry, considering they're presenting Walter as someone who doesn't react emotionally in a standard way (if at all). Not that nonstandard folks don't deserve love, but I don't think the writers are getting their storyline across the way they think they are if they're trying to make this pairing appealing.

Could there be a worse person to declare that Walter loves Paige and is the most worthy of her than the grifter mom of Paige who is portrayed as unlikeable as poison ivy? — Not to mention that Paige and Tim get to decide who they want to be with.

It infuriates me when supposedly well intentioned people try to guilt you into allowing a toxic person to stay in your life because they are family. Paige's mom is a user and destructive. I don't care if it's a new holiday called Forgive Your Abusive Relative Day that woman would never get near a child of mine. Let alone be given a pass to develop a "relationship" with her grandson. This week's case was a typical unbelievable one but I couldn't enjoy the craziness of it all because of the nasty narcissistic mom. After last week's sweet interaction between Sly & Walter's family that was the feel good Thanksgiving episode? You blew it Scorpion.

My first wonder is why the fuck Paige's mom didn't come up before now and cause massive problems with Paige having any sort of security clearance? Or we're handwaving again with the "geniuses gets what they wants because gov wants geniuses, fuck protocol etc"?

The Cabe shit should've been maybe, possibly, remotely well-intentioned (but still wrong) if the entire premise of this episode hadn't been she got out of prison five minutes ago and is already in the shit with some bad deal. If this had been she has been in prison this whole time and one the surface appears to have reformed and has nothing to do with past shit I'd still wholeheartedly disagree with Cabe's viewpoint, but at least see how he might be a sappy sap dupe who'd think second chances are worth it. That fucker got him shot at while in a moving vehicle holding a giant weapon. He is a moron of forgiveness. Shouldn't a homeland guy recognize a dangerous human? Forget the emotionally manipulative, toxic family dynamic, she's just flat out dangerous in general.

And I mean, I love Lea Thompson. I like to see her on TV, but this show already has me sacrificing all sense of logic and reason just to watch it. I suppose on the one hand, what's some more? But oh man. Pointless pointless manipulative plot line that cannot possibly be resolved in a satisfying manner.

The whole bringing the mother back into the fold was typical TV so I didn't really care about it one way or another, but I agree that the whole Walter-Paige thing needs to be over and done with, they have absolutely no chemistry.  Take Elementary for existence, Sherlock is annoying as heck and pretty socially atypical, yet his relationship with the girl from the self-driving car company came off as believable because there was actually some believable chemistry.  In Big Bang Theory, Sheldon is just as bad as Walter socially (and arguably worse and more of a genius), and his relationship with Amy comes off great because they actually show some sort of chemistry.  I personally don't like Walter's character too much, but that isn't the reason for my personal dislike of the Walter-Paige trope.

And I love how the whole story about the money that Paige's mom was supposed to give to those guys shooting at them and what happened to those guys that were shooting at them just was completely forgotten.

I was hoping the whole episode that they wouldn't do the typical "Oh she's famillllyyyy!" at the end

But they did.

They should've at least made her somewhat redeemable and not a total sociopath. She got the team shot at and didn't really bat an eyelash beyond "Oh, I didn't think they'd do that!"

The only thing I like about the episode was Toby getting to say things like, "You never slap another man's sauce." And Cabe being smitten.

The rest was crap, the forgotten reactor, Paige's Mom being there, still don't like Tim, and so tired of the Paige and Walter nonsense. Love Lea Thompson, but seriously after knowing Walter for like half a day she knows he is better for Paige than Tim. Don't care about any of them together!
