WendyCR72 October 29, 2016 Share October 29, 2016 Sharon Goodwin's childhood sweetheart arrives at the hospital, but finds himself in dire straits. To help get his financial footing, Dr. Halstead gets lured into a concierge doctor app idea. Meanwhile, a young woman with a heart infection is treated by Dr. Rhodes against Dr. Charles' advice, and Reese's former patient, a sex trafficking victim, reaches out to her for help. Margherita Erdman November 4, 2016 Share November 4, 2016 Hated watching Robert Gossett die on screen for the second time this year. Found Dr. Charles' outrage about lack of consent baffling — does lack of informed consent by the patient or next of kin/designated proxy really take absolute precedence over life-saving treatment? Dr. Char.es certainly seemed to think the patient's problem was urgent when he was dressing down the ED doctor for missing the correct diagnosis. Also baffled by the mysterious comings and goings of Nurse YaYa's TB. Can it suddenly become an acute problem after a course of suppressive drug treatment? Has TB become chronic and incurable again, a relapsing/remitting disease? Why isn't she cured? If she'd been diagnosed with a drug-resistant strain she would have been subject to strict quarantine and much more intense treatment right? Ugh, the Noah & Halsted trapped in a subplot. 2 Link to comment
TVForever November 4, 2016 Share November 4, 2016 I like Reese, but that kid needs help with her somewhat overzealous enthusiasm (major eye roll here). Dr Charles needed to tell her that she was not allowed to take a patient home (!), and she would be kicked out of the program if she went ahead with this. Good luck getting into another spot with that history. Stop treating Reese like she's your daughter and start treating her like the budding professional she's supposed to be. 3 Link to comment
Lady Calypso November 4, 2016 Share November 4, 2016 Man, what was up with Charles this episode and his random freakout about consent? It feels like it was contrived drama for the upcoming Connor/Robyn Charles romance. Oh, so she might not be in her right frame of mind. Yet, she needs this surgery to help save her life? Didn't she? Did I misunderstand that the surgery was necessary to get her better? What, was Charles overcompensating with this girl because of his crappy relationship with his daughter or something? So confused here. He yelled at the other doctor for misdiagnosing a serious illness, and then freaks out on Connor when he tries to give her surgery to cure her. They really dumbed down Charles this episode, except when he rightfully told Sarah not to break the rules for Danny. Speaking of Sarah, I guess I was wrong when I said this plot would be different from all the other Chicago Trio serious plots. What, are we going to see Sarah find Danny and then get kidnapped by the sex traffickers, leading to a crossover with PD? I like Sarah, but this current plot makes her look like an incompetent new psychiatrist. I know she's just learning, but she's too emotionally attached and it could get Danny killed. I'm so confused by April's TB. So, can it come and go then? I really hope her now-fiance does not turn out to be a jerk, because I really do like him. I do think Maggie probably shouldn't have asked those questions right after she found out about April's engagement, but I get that she just wants to make sure that April is happy and her marriage lasts. So, I guess I might kind of like Halstead now. Dr. McHot Air, on the other hand, needs to have his own crossover with PD where he goes missing...and is never ever found. There's nothing to like about this little punk. So, he creates a home care app that I'm not sure is legally authorized, and what? Is he the only "doctor" part of it? Does he have other "doctors" that help? I'm glad Halstead told him upfront to Hot Air that they could be liable if they misdiagnose or don't do a fully workup. I also did not mind that Nosebleed told Hot Air to shove it after he found out his bill was high, although he shouldn't be using that app to diagnose himself. And then Hot Air is relieved when Halstead decides not to go for it because....I presume because he lost a client even though Hot Air's in the wrong? Yeah, buzz off. That being said, his elation over his sister's engagement was somewhat ok and kind of cute. I feel bad for Sharon for losing her first love, but she definitely didn't handle the situation well, with telling Manning and Choi to forget the medical and just to save him, and then freaking out at them when they give their medical opinion. It's a good thing she finally found her objective side. I'll give her a pass since this is the first time we've seen her get emotionally involved in a patient. 1 Link to comment

Chief Taylor just can't catch a break, can he? Although I knew he was doomed as soon as her and Sharon (heh) started flirting. I have to wonder if there's some kind of marketing push by whoever it is that makes ECMO machines. It came up on Code Black a few weeks ago as well. 7 hours ago, Lady Calypso said: So, he creates a home care app that I'm not sure is legally authorized, and what? They exist. NYC has one called Pager. I don't know about how lucrative it is for the doctors, but it costs $150 for an urgent house call, plus any ancillary tests. The testing is where they're going to make their money. That stuff is expensive. I don't know, if they could have a Very Special Episode that crosses over with The Night Shift and featured a helicopter vs pedestrian, or an active shooter, or a bombing, maybe Noah could be collateral damage or something. The character has no purpose except to piss me off more than just about anyone else on the show. Will, you have come a long, long way this season. Do not undo your hard work by screwing Lena over. She is better than you deserve and we both know it. Link to comment

Tiger November 5, 2016 Share November 5, 2016 (edited) Mekerson and Platt are front and center, so it must be sweeps. I guess this Danny story is leading to the next One Chicago to help boost/launch Justice? Hopefully we'll get minimal crossover from the Fire charaxters and that even on that characters from the other shows will be front and center. ETA: Halstead and April's brother together is just painful. Forget Medical School, I have no idea how either of them learned how to ride a bike with training wheels. It didn't occur to me that it could be overcompensating because of his relationship with his older daughter (he still has a pre-teen one, right?) but if he is, then he needs to go see his therapist because wow, was that stupid. She needs a surgery to save her life but she can't consent so you don't do the surgery? That's so stupid. I kind of felt sorry for him post surgery when she didn't recognize him but it did kind of serve him right for getting over-involved with a patient. Just like Reese. Dr. Nina is so much more than Halstead deserves so I wanted to smack him when he kept looking cow eyes in Manning's direction. Although it always amuses me when a show wants me to ship a couple that I think are toxic together. 1 Link to comment
MakeMeLaugh November 7, 2016 Share November 7, 2016 (edited) Sharon and Dr Charles both had embarrassing plot lines. Wouldn't Dr Charles have turned the heart patient's treatment over to a cardiologist the minute her condition was diagnosed? So Dr Manning isn't really a pediatrician? I'm so confused about her patients. Pretty sure all the inner-city ERs in Chicago get tons of kids every day, yet here she is treating an adult with parasites. Pretty sure he'd be put under the immediate care of a specialist too. Dr Reese doesn't seem to get much guidance beforehand, just criticism of her work after the fact. She is my favorite character and I always find her unjaded outlook believable. I have to say I don't usually watch medical shows and got sucked into this one only because I like Dick Wolf and the other Chicago shows, so maybe I'm missing conventions here. Texasmom1970 November 10, 2016 Share November 10, 2016 Some of the other actors should take note of S. Epatha Merkerson and Robert Gossett. Their brief scenes together really pulled me in, they are truly talented at their craft. What was that crap with Dr. Halstead and April's brother, after being investigated shouldn't Halstead steer clear of stupid ideas like that. Well he has shown in the past he does not have great judgement. 1 Link to comment
