Forever Young
-Rod Stewart
-Bob Dylan

Even though Dylan got an equal share of the royalties on Stewart's song because of the similarities, they're two different songs.

I know this is from many pages ago, but add Alphaville's '80s song, Forever Young, to this list.

There's also a "Candy" by Bikini Kill, and one by Iggy Pop (with guest vocals by Kate Pierson).

And now I have to go listen to the latter, as I love it and haven't heard it in a while.

(There was also a song called "Bounce" in From Justin to Kelly, but there was never an official soundtrack released, so I guess they figured out they didn't exactly have a blockbuster on their hands.)

Thinking of You - Sa-Fire

Wow, seeing this one brings me back. You never really hear it anymore. Came out when I was around 17. Very poignant song.

Dreams - Fleetwood Mac

Dreams - The Corrs

Dreams - David Guetta & Morten feat. Lanie Gardner

Technically, the Corrs song is a cover of the Fleetwood Mac song, so same one. But substitute The Cranberries and THEIR song, "Dreams", another Irish group, no less!, and it still makes three.  😎

I knew we'd done "Dreams" before, so double-checking:  We'd listed Fleetwood Mac, Van Halen, The Cranberries, and Grace Slick.

David Guetta and Morten is new to me, and I'll add Brandi Carlisle, The Allman Brothers, and Joe Walsh as artists I've remembered since the last time this title came up.

Given the title, I'm sure there are still more.

So, just to see if I got this: the goal is to find songs with the same title, same lyrics, and not necessarily cover of a previous one, right?

Got it! Another one, then:

As long as you love me - Back Street Boys

As long as you love me - Justin Bieber

What would be an examples of songs that had the same lyrics but aren't a cover?

To be fair, I was overthinking all of this, to make sure I posted accordingly, but it crossed my mind a remix of a song, whether it'd be valid in topic here. But then again, I'm not even sure remix and cover are two different things, I'll google sometime. Like for instance, the 3 Dreams I listed before, the last one, by David Guetta, uses the original lyrics, but not the entirety of them, his version is quite mixed up.

There's also a "Remember Me" by T.I. (with Mary J. Blige) and one by Hoobastank, and if you turn it into a question, there's "Remember Me?" by Eminem.

(I was going to say Tim McGraw, too, but realized that's "Please Remember Me".)

Interesting; that does seem like what would be a popular title, but when I started brainstorming I realized I didn't actually know any "Lonely" songs (including those you posted), just songs with "lonely" in the title -- "Only the Lonely", "Mr. Lonely", "You're Only Lonely", and "Lonely Too Long".

Right?! I had those in mind and they're rather new, but there's gotta be more 'lonely' out there!

I could SWEAR Only The Lonely popped up in this thread. I know right offhand that Roy Orbison and The Motels both have songs with that title.

And Bon Jovi and The Eagles have songs called Only Lonely.
