S01.E03: Leaving The Nest

I love how every time either Joey or Emma's parents are talking about their marriage they have such a disdainful tone. Like they just can't believe it and think it's such a spectacularly bad idea. It bodes really well for their marriage is fantastic.

Also those homemade egg mcmuffins looked delicious and I'd say i can't believe he made and ate four but I totally can.

Dear lord, this is real? I saw the promo and wasn't sure if it was a spoof.

Yes, he ate all those egg sandwiches.  ?  Aside from religion pushing these kids to get married so they can have sex, at least the parents seem somewhat reasonable in terms of advising the couples, or at least they do in their THs.  I'm in.  Slim pickins this summer.

Damn. He ate all four of them? Did he even offer his wife a bite? Heh.

Nope. Hello, heart disease! The only person I can think that could get away with that would be The Rock and that's because he is a walking muscle.

That's why he looks so heavy in his interviews!

The California couple is going to be the first to arrive at the Big D. He just wanted to have sex, and she thinks he's magically going to become a "Democrat."  And by the way, neither of them no what the hell they are talking about when it comes to political views.

I was so paranoid that Emma was going to crash the car every time she looked at Joey or turned around to look in the back seat while driving. They are headed for divorce because either he is going to get sick of the nagging or she is going to get sick of having to parent Joey.

It struck me as so odd that - other than the Mormon guy - none of these people has ever lived outside of their parents' homes or had any truly adult experiences (like paying bills). They are excited for sex AND for getting their own places - both are bad reasons to get married.

Hailies mom calling her all the time to tell her how sad she is is really bad. It's hard enough on Hailie to move away without them calling and giving her guilt trips about how sad they are. You have 4 other daughters go do something with them!

Ut was cute when Brenda was saying she loves everything in the apartment even the shower. She was so excited.

Joey's place seems pretty lived-in; I'm not even sure Emma wasn't living there before they got married, since we didn't get to see anything about the process of her moving in. I also think George was living alone in his place before Halie arrived.

So George is wasting no time in talking down to his wife, huh? "you girls with your soft, girly brains, such drama, you're so silly! why, we men are so logical and clear in our thinking! You are just adorable balls of fluff!"

Travis and Brenda, oy. Neither one is especially articulate. I love Brenda, though. I love how enthusiastic she is and how happy.

Joey absolutely amuses me. He's just such a guy. He works at the feed and grain store and he loves it. He lives his slovenly guy life and he is perfectly content. I've known dozens of guys like him. Emma could back off a little. Where's the fire? Take a little time and settle down first.

Right? And he seems to love his job! You just know Emma's going to start in on his lack of ambition and needle him to get a better job. She is going to make his life a misery. He's not what I'd like to find under my Christmas tree but I do appreciate his easygoing attitude and big-old-lab-puppy goofiness. He seems good humored. So he's a total slob and he's unambitious and laid back. There's worse things to be.
