peeayebee December 8, 2023 Share December 8, 2023 10 hours ago, iMonrey said: These were two rather mediocre episodes. I'd swear I've seen Josh Peck somewhere before, but scanning his imdb credits, he hasn't been in anything I've ever seen. Maybe it's just that he looks like the love child of Patrick Dempsey. Kind of a dope though. Didn't even recognize the names of some of the most famous gymnasts. He was in Drake & Josh on... Nickelodeon? My son used to watch that. I also was shocked when he didn't know Nadia Comaneci. I mean, yes, she was definitely before his time. I just hate being reminded that I'm OLD. Quote For "things you do in the bathroom" I'd be tempted to say "you pee in there, you poop in there . . . " but I wonder if I'd get buzzed for saying "in there." It's a borderline qualifier. Yeah, I don't know. Maybe just saying, "Go pee. Go poop. Take a shower. Clean the tub." Quote Jeannie basically just said "roar" when the clue was "roar." I can't believe they let her get away with that. I KNOW! I was sure they'd buzz her. Another judge thing I didn't like was for the category of new words in the dictionary. Saying steroid for roid and guacamole for guac is just wrong. Steroid and guacamole were not the new words in the dictionary. Quote I'm mortified that Eliza Shesinger couldn't pick up on Vice Presidents. Then again the contestant didn't even think to say Kamala Harris. Clearly civics are not in either women's wheelhouse. Not recognizing Vice Presidents was bad. And it's not like these were VPs from the 19th century. I think when Taran was trying to get Adam to say pecan, he should have said something like, "For Thanksgiving you might have pumpkin pie or this other kind of pie." I thought there were two words/phrases that were tough. "Things with a belly" and "The Owner." We say In the belly of the beast, but I'm not sure saying, "The beast" would get you there. Do planes have bellies? Doesn't matter. It's a hard one. And The owner. Hard to give clues without saying 'own.' I guess, "A person who has a business. It belongs to him. He is the..." Overall, I didn't enjoy this ep. Just not very fun. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/44036-the-100000-pyramid-general-discussion/page/23/#findComment-8234883

Jeannie Mei was the better partner to go for 100k. She's competitive and did a great job in the winner's circle. The second half was much better. At least these teams got through all 7 clues. ams1001 December 14, 2023 Share December 14, 2023 What was with all the sex and drugs in that first game? All the holiday sweaters are cracking me up. "Chillin" for "illin" is okay... also pretty sure I heard a "sounds like boys" when they were trying to get toys (though she might have said the answer at the same time so maybe they didn't count the clue). peeayebee December 14, 2023 Share December 14, 2023 (edited) Cheshire Cat is a great clue. That paired with Michael's suggestion of a happy face probably would have done it. Yeah, I think whoever was giving clues for 'toys' said "Rhymes with boys" or whatever it was, but the receiver said toys before he finished his clue. I keep laughing at "Biscuits and milk," esp Michael's reaction. I don't know 'illin', so I never would have gotten that. I too loved the holiday sweaters. I recently had to buy one for my son, and the pickin's were slim. I waited too long. Boy, they really crammed the holiday theme into the categories. The Mystery 7 one about plumbing was, according to Michael, "Gifts you buy for a child who wants to be a plumber." Ok then. It's a shame that Matt started out giving clues for 'weed' via the marijuana angle. It would have been better to just say, "This is the unwanted plant you pull up in the garden." It was like an Abbot & Costello routine with 'wrong.' Jordan: Not right but... Malin: Left. Jordan: Incorrect. Malin: Oh, uh.... In the WC, Things You Thirst For was tough, but Matt just kept at it, throwing out every possibility. Whew! And once again there's the manicure clue for pedicure. *sigh* Then in the second WC, Bar Activities was tricky. Types of Cones seemed hard until Michael said "Orange traffic ones." Of course! Was it Howie giving the clues for 'cookies'? He made it way too complicated. How about "Oreos are a type of..." And then for 'rock' Derek kept saying it was a little stone. I don't think of a rock that way. I actually think it's the opposite. Anyway, another clue is, "This is modern music. Blank and roll." Ugh for Howie not knowing what arson means. I'm not sure what he thought it was, but he started to give clues about a person with guns? Places You See a Table was tough. A dining room, a restaurant, a furniture store, a conference room. I felt bad for Angelique. She was clearly nervous at the end. ETA: I just thought of another clue that bothered me. For 'R' Malin said "The letter after Q." Seems iffy. iMonrey April 4, 2024 Share April 4, 2024 I wish they would stop inviting Hip Hop artists to play. At least, stop inviting these particular Hip Hop artists. At least Wiz Khalifa took his sunglasses off to play. Ty Dolla $ign left his on the whole game. That's so rude and inconsiderate. If you can't make eye contact with your partner it makes the game so much harder. And, how stoned were these dudes anyway? Talk about taking "laid back" to the next level. And is it just me or was the judging even more lax than usual? Ty actually said "a state that starts with A." You can't do that! You can't just say what letter the word starts with! Jeez. The other two games were OK. But OMG Tiffany Haddish is so bad at giving clues. Which is unfortunate because she was very good at guessing them. She couldn't even get "vanilla?" All you have to say is "not chocolate, but . . ." Instead she rambled on about beans and flavors. During the Joel and Wayne game the judges gave the contestant a pass on "runway" when she actually said "running away." But I guess the words were in there. "Things made of stone" was a tough subject. "The Rosetta one" was the perfect clue but I don't think I would have thought of it either. peeayebee April 1 Share April 1 What a contrast. The first game with Bobby Moynihan and Jaleel White vs the second with Joel McHale and Roxie Diaz, whoever the hell that is. In the second game, not only were Joel and Roxie not that great, but the contestants were poor as well. For Wheels on the Bus, is humming allowed? or at least going "The da-da-da-da go round and round..." I was glad Michael told Jaleel to use his hands, because I was silently telling him to do that. I can't remember if Michael or even previous hosts ever gave directions during the game. I know they've sometimes told the clue-giver to look at the word again, like if they misread 'trial' for 'trail.' Types of Buttons was hard. A shirt one, a cuff one, a belly one, a panic one... The first Mystery Seven had a trip to Italy?! That was a nice one. And I liked that both contestants won something. I was with Jaleel with getting stumped by 'Robbie.' Margot Robbie never occurred to me. The first slow animal I thought of was a sloth. So, the second game. Yikes. First off, Daz was too hyper, and his first time giving clues was bad. Roxie was terrrible, too. For 'farmer,' Ronald McDonald Had a ... What? And then Teddi didn't name The Beatles. I don't know if Roxie was serious when she said they were before her time or if she just said that to make Teddi feel better. I cracked up when time ran out during the Tom Brady one, with Daz just getting to say 'football,' then when Michael asked him what he would say for that, Daz said, "I'd say football." I also liked at the very beginning when Michael said, "Those who can't, host." 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/44036-the-100000-pyramid-general-discussion/page/23/#findComment-8622725

peeayebee April 9 Share April 9 I've seen Luenell before, maybe on this show. And since I saw Borat (years ago) I must have seen her there, but don't really remember her, kinda sorta. I think there was another show or movie I saw her in. Anyway, not the best player. Rob Riggle was a bit disappointing. It bugs me when clue-givers don't start with a specific point of reference. Like with Tug-of-War, first say that it's a game, a game where you use a big rope, and then do the miming. Maybe his partner wouldn't have gotten it anyway, but that's just an example of the type of sloppy clue-giving that frustrates me. Rob doing allergy was poor also. "This is a condition some people have that makes them sick. Pollen, peanuts, dander." Not that it mattered, but gorillas aren't monkeys. For 'Things with Dollar Signs,' Rob answered dollar bills. And that was accepted? Geez. But that was a tough category. I'd say price tags, American money. I'd want to say something about those bags of stolen money in cartoons. Just "Cartoon bags of money"? Things You Dig was tough. I did think about hipster slang, like Can you dig it? But I don't know how you'd phrase that or even if it would work. Sometimes I think it's best if you list things without long pauses. "A hole, a grave, a trench." Fortune Fenster, or whatever, wasn't too good. Rachel Dratch is awesome. Jillian was just about giving me a heart attack. She was smart but also the definition of hyper, particularly when she was doing the Mystery 7. For Things You Buy Online, could you say, "Stuff from Amazon?" peeayebee April 14 Share April 14 Disappointing, both games. In the first one, the contestant Brian was very good, but he never got to the Winners Circle. Ana was generally good but had a couple of hiccups. Oh, one thing I thought Brian did wrong was make a kissing sound when he was going for pucker. He should have just made the face, and maybe also said, "Lemons make you do this." Kevin... the less said the better. Actually, another thing Brian did that was questionable was the clues he gave for molasses. He was referencing something historical I think, but I have no idea what it was. Just say, "This is a sweet, sticky syrup. Slow as...." In the second game, Scott Wolf was generally good. I have no idea who the comedian was, and I couldn't even understand her name. And then she was terrible. I think it was David who was giving clues for 'filter.' Maybe it was Scott. Whoever it was, the clues were bad. Just say, "To make your drinking water clean, you use Brita. I also agree with the "cop" and "helicopter" one because saying part of the word can prompt the receiver to get the full word. I'm not sure I remember the other one you wondered about. Ana did say "ice cream" when she was giving clues for "whipped cream," and that was justified. The other two, I never would have even noticed if I were a judge. I guess i could see an argument either way. I do hope that the players and judges have a clear set of rules to go by, even if we viewers don’t have access to it! 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/44036-the-100000-pyramid-general-discussion/page/23/#findComment-8635344

And then she was terrible. Atsuko Okatsuka; I think I first saw her on The Late Show a couple years ago and she's been on After Midnight a few times. I wondered if English not being her first language would be an issue. Though her Wikipedia page says she came to the US at age eight (born in Taiwan and lived in Japan as a child). 1 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/44036-the-100000-pyramid-general-discussion/page/23/#findComment-8635433
ams1001 April 28 Share April 28 I don't know who Meagan Good is, but she is not good at this game. "A rapper's lyrics" for Things That Flow was a good one. I never would have come up with that. "The grandmother from Who's the Boss" (Mona) to get to "moan"...wow. 😆 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/44036-the-100000-pyramid-general-discussion/page/23/#findComment-8647436

peeayebee April 28 Share April 28 (edited) I still don't know who Meagan Good is, but I think she looks like Megan Fox. I did not have high hopes for DL Hughley, but he often did pretty good. Yellow foods seems pretty limited, but I would say bananas, lemons, butter, maybe squash. Maybe Peeps! I was so happy to see Bobby Moynihan and Mark Duplass. What a pleasure to watch them play. And the contestants were very good, too. Is Bobby coming back to SNL? ETA: I just googled Meagan Good. She has been in a lot of movies! I've seen her in two of them: Eve's Bayou and Roll Bounce. So unbelievable May 12 Share May 12 Agree! Tori Spelling was the worst. I'd be so pissed as the contestant. Brian was hardly any better. Never invite either of them back! 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/44036-the-100000-pyramid-general-discussion/page/23/#findComment-8659612
peeayebee May 12 Share May 12 Agree. It was hard to watch. What a mess. A couple of questions: In the Winner's Circle, Rachel said "carburetor" for Parts of a Car. It was buzzed. I just checked, and both words -- carburetor and car -- come from different origins. I understand that the word 'car' is in the clue word, but, well, I just disagree with the ruling. In the second Winner's Circle, David said "circumference" for Parts of a Circle. Again, give me a break. Again, the two words have different origins. And then afterwards, Michael said he was buzzed because he said 'round.' Nope. The buzzing came before that. I thought Brian did say 'bands.' As for the first half of the show, that was pretty good, though I feel bad for Shay. She was really really good, but never got to the Winner's Circle. I hate when that happens. For People Who Ring Bells, I was thinking of Avon ladies, but I'm not sure if younger people (like Shay?) would know that. For Womp Womp, one of the words was Ow. Denise said Ouch and got it right. Nope. Parts of a Zoom Call was tough. I haven't been on very many, so I wouldn't know what to say. Things That Make You Giggle. Did Denise say ticking? That's a good clue. People Who Were First was kinda hard. George Washington, Neil Armstrong, Sir Edmund Hillary. 3 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/44036-the-100000-pyramid-general-discussion/page/23/#findComment-8659907
