I can't believe there's only one Pointer Sister left.

"Slow Hand" was my favorite Pointer Sisters song.

I love that one (and Conway Twitty's version), but "Fire" was my favorite of their songs.

For those who didn't follow soaps, it should be noted that the former Miss McLaughlin started her TV career playing (uncredited) Patty Duke's double in The Patty Duke Show (1963-1966) whenever both Patty and her 'identical cousin' Cathy Lane would have to appear in the same scene- and it wasn't via split-screen. IOW, the then-Miss McLaughlin almost always appeared with her back to the camera while Miss Duke would face it! No doubt this helped her sell the illogical logic that the soap put her character through. Of course, if her birth date is as claimed, this also means she started on Patty Duke when she was twelve while Miss Duke was seventeen but since Miss Duke herself was quite short, it's not that much of a stretch.

RIP, Mrs. Walter.

SF/F author Suzy McKee Charnas has died.  She was one of the early what I would characterize as "second wave feminism" science fiction and fantasy authors, starting with Walk to the End of the World and Motherlines.  Her feminist werewolf story "Boobs" won a Hugo Award in 1989.  She was also known for a series of vampire stories starring the Compte de Saint Germain.

Author Fay Weldon has died, age 91.  In the US she's probably best known for her novel The Life and Loves of a She-Devil, which was adapted as both a British miniseries that was broadcast in the US and had a major Hollywood movie adaptation. She was very prolific and wrote around 30 novels.

The Hollywood adaptation was She-Devil and starred Roseanne Barr; a guilty pleasure of mine. But I first remember Fay Weldon from the credits of Upstairs, Downstairs which Weldon wrote for.  R.I.P.
