Yeah, not getting the bitch comment for Amy.  She admitted she has RBF; that is not a crime and honestly pretty common LOL Hopefully she has been working on that too. She always seems super sweet and gracious on social media.

I was looking at that Ally girl's IG and she looks to me like she's lost a lot of weight in the past year or so; I actually really admire her for how hard she has worked on her fitness/figure.

Not sure I believe that. But in either case, it's a moot point. The point of diversity in this context is to include women who appear to be from a variety of ethnic/racial/religious/whatever backgrounds. Cheerleader are, for the most part, seen and not heard. They could have a team of light skinned blondes, and they could all be half something-other-than-white, and people would be howling about the lack of diversity. Most fans don't know these girls' last names or what their parents look like, they just know what they see.

In any case, I'm not going to go off topic about a past DCC. This year's training camp candidates all look very much in the DCC formula: tan or olive-skinned with beachy/wavy hair. Holly is a notable, and conscious exception. I'd be supremely impressed if they ever let any of the AA girls wear their hair natural or in braids. Or let somebody have a pixie cut. Or (gasp!) bangs. I would love if every girl had her own look. I'm holding out hope that Kyndall and Madeline both make the team and both get to wear their hair curly. I would love it if they chopped Tasha's hair off. I'm one of her fans, but I saw a photo from prelims/semis where you could see her taped in extensions and it was not good.

Vet Megan's turning skills are great, but that costume was ugly.  Looks like she trying to cover her midsection w/ it or something.

I think Jenny Kat actually looked really good! She is not a twig, she never has been, but I thought she looked fit and trim and her top was so cool.  She gets a Barbie like every year so I bet her solo was actually awesome. I just think she is so beautiful and classy. I hope she gets point! 

I bet Hunter's downfall was technique because I agree, her routine seemed to be well received by the other girls. 

Jenna looked much better in her short clip than what we saw last year; she really is so cute! 

Did you see Danielle's reaction during Megan's turns? It was so funny, she was just shaking her head like HOLY CRAP WOW.  Megan is amazing! She does put her weight on in her stomach so I could see that being why she picked that outfit but who knows...the back of it was really pretty.

sleepyjean - Your comments seem to indicate you view diversity as dark/light. But I think you're meaning that it doesn't matter whether they're dark or light - they all have a homogenous look, especially from far away. I do agree with you in that regard. There's a certain "DCC Look."  They veered some with Courtney Cook or Nicole Bultcher's curls. But there is a look Kelli and Judy go for, and all the girls certainly have that. I also wouldn't mind seeing a really cute non-traditional hairstyle on one of the DCCs.

No. That is not correct. I am a mixture of several races myself. However, the interwebs are full of misunderstandings, so I suggest we move on. I have no interest in calling anyone out on their beliefs about diversity.

I've honestly always wondered about that with Paige's hair. Hard to tell if Paige made the decision to go back to straight/wavy or if that was Kelli, but I honestly preferred her hair so much when it was straightened with larger waves added in. I didn't find her as pretty her rookie year as I do now. But anyway... Off topic. ?

Didn't mean to start a race discussion. I'm black and I enjoy seeing girls who look like me in things I enjoy and sometimes it's rare in the cheer/dance world that I'm part of, so I tend to cheer hard for those that I do see. I don't think the process for DCC is unbiased, but I wouldn't say it's racist. It's different considering how they group the girls for the field portion of the tryouts and I've never been involved in an audition process that was like that. I tried out for my high school cheerleading team and my college team and that's it. Now I coach, and I know for a fact that I can be biased because I would like a certain look for my team, but skills beat looks on any day in my world. Skills also beats any "diversity quota". I just like people who can perform well and help us win competitions, but I know the DCC brand has to worry about looks.

Personally, I think Paige liked it straighter. But also, DCCs have a "look" and it's hard to be different from the look. Courtney Cook and Nicole Bulcher didn't seem to mind, though.

You didn't start anything. This type of conversation comes and goes all the time. Sometimes we get to the agree-to-disagree stance, but I find talking helps me understand what someone's really saying.  :)  And I agree with you, that for DCC, skills beat looks.  And they've got the budget to make skilled dancers look more DCC. lol

I do think Kelli are biased in that there's a certain look they want for DCC. I wouldn't mind them expanding that "look" to include some other hair styles, some short hair styles, bangs etc. Jordan Baum had a short hair style when she made the squad. Then her hair went into the classic DCC long sweep. Teri was another with shorter hair, but she was a one-hit wonder DCC.  I haven't seen bangs for years now.

Jenny solo was not a bad solo per se, she just really did not execute it very well at all.   If Nicole Hamilton danced that same dance it would have been a showstopper.

Strange. I'm not a dancer, but from watching DCC and excellent solos over the years, I'm able to see more choppiness and stuff in people's styles. To me, Jenny's solo wasn't all that smooth. But maybe that's what they were going for...?

Wow that IG pick of Amy shows some real flexibility, much more than I thought she could develop. Really interested to see what happens with her in TC this year.

I may have missed this in the flurry of posting the last couple of weeks but I'm assuming S9 Christina has decided to give DCC up? I don't recall seeing her at auditions this year at all.

That's a routine better suited to DCR&B team or the Mavs.  Michelle Keys, while an excellent choreographer by all reports, has gone too far afield from the DCC style. At least for audition purposes. At auditions they want to be able to imagine the dancer as a part of the DCC, not as a unique dancer. 

Non-conformity kills when it comes to DCC. When and if Charlotte, Kelli and Judy ever retire, then a new style might stand a chance.

I think it'll be Danielle, Jennifer, Jessica, and Jenna based on leaders from last year.

Based on the costume I would guess they both danced to "I'm a Slave 4 U," unless they did some other song with the outfit from that video. I prefer it on Amy, especially since her top is more authentic to the real one.

I "think" Milan did. I believe I saw a clip of her routine that showed beautiful ballet technique on her IG??? Going back a few weeks? She thanked and tagged Michelle.

The difference between Amy and vivians legs is that even the second time round, Vivs were too stocky and short. She was also, and I quote "raunchy" and "clunky" on the choreo. Amy's less are little but she's tiny all over..

shelbi was definitely aware. I tagged her in it lol. And today she's just written an IG post saying he's her rock, who believes in her. Smart thing would have been to play dumb. Other people from other teams will hear about this too. Way to kill your dream girl. They obviously thought posting on his business account would cover their tracks. 

I get that Michelle K can choreo some amazing stuff. But she was a DCC ages ago - when so many of the senior/recently retired DCC vets are dance teachers, I can't see why you'd go to Michelle over one of them? Mia, Jen, Danielle, Loren and I'm sure there are others. They know what's expected from a solo NOW, not years ago. Not hating on Michelle for one minute because I think she's amazing but still? Michelle was singing Yukos praises not long ago, maybe she did her solo too? I'd hope Michelle got at least couple into TCC lol! 

I like how dignified Caila and Kat have been about it all. What a difference between them and Shelbi! Its definitely worse for them too - they've literally lost their job!

So I've been in the hospital and I tried skimming through the 25 pages that have posted since auditions.

Do I have the Cliff Notes version correct:. Kyndall, Auto Amy and Madeline made TC.  Jenna, former DCC, did not.  Shelbi did not and her Bf took it out on Charlotte (oh the things I miss!). Kat and Caila are the only vets not to make it back.  

Not to beat a dead racial horse, but Sasha wore her hair natural and everyone liked it.  I loved that about her!  Anyone know how many AA women made TC?  I always root for them!

Yes they made training camp. 50 yards Kelsey also made it, if you're a fan! 

Shelbi did not make training camp. Her boyfriend went on a rampage on charlottes Instagram. It was embarrassing.

kat and Caila didn't make it back and have both been really mature about it

Does Michelle Keyes always make "hard" or "masculine" pieces?   Sometimes when fame is involved you start taking more chances with your product.  I think her pieces are too masculine and not "pretty."

Oh I forgot something--on Amy's tears.  I know it is very embarrassing to be a "crier."  I am one too.  I speak in a certain venue often and served as president of an organization and had to host banquets and give speeches.  I swear I tear up at the slightest thing.  I hate it.  This might be Amy also.  A friend told me I was just a crier and it would never change.  And it hasn't.

Robin's hair is a weave. If you look at it, you can't see her scalp in her part. You should always be able to see scalp. I'm not judging it though, because I know it can be damaging to leave hair out and try to blend your real hair with the fake hair to make it look like the same texture.

He said Kelsey Lowrance. I kind of knew that already since I see her out a lot in uptown, but at least she's not a minor! Plus her body looks great.

Yes, in multiple years of Amy being shown on MTT, there was exactly ONE instance of Kitty using the B word while calling her out for how her face looked while being criticized (which, yes, could have been a case of being defensive against a bully and/or concentrating on Kitty's comments in a way that gave her RBF).

As far as I can remember, there were zero incidents shown of her being mean/snarky to other people, which is how I would expect a "total bitch" to act. Perhaps, in reference to the tears and her statement that she wanted it more than anybody, the better descriptor would be "total drama queen."
