Yeah you've got a whole lot of room to talk about America and our faults. Remember how we kicked your asses in the Revolutionary War, and you needed us to save you from Germany, because Neville Chamberlain was too stupid or just didn't care that Hitler was going to invade all of Europe and you guys were on that list too.

I want to clarify for anyone interested in this PBS show.

This is the story of after abdicating Edward wanted a role in the war with the British military. He was still a member of the military. They actually gave him a role. He betrayed them and passed information to the Nazis. At one point Churchill threatened to court-martial the Duke. Ultimately Edward cost British lives.

The RF changed its last name to Windsor from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha in 1917, due to its ties to Germany. It was basically just for PR, as we all know up until Churchill had the balls to stand up to Hitler, the RF and the British gov't was appeasing Hitler, thinking he'd leave England alone if they let him take Europe.

There's a great movie "Remains of the Day", while being fiction,  illustrates how the elite of British government thought they were smart to ignore what Hitler was doing.  Christopher Reeve plays a US Senator who just loses it with them and tells them they are out of their depth and amateurs when it comes to international politics.  To this day. 

Katty being for Brexit shows how uninformed she is, but then we all know that..  Brexit has been a disaster for the British economy, no matter how the conservative party tries to spin it.

That said it did strike me that we can't even celebrate a holiday which seemed so normal in the before time anymore. And that what everyone in my generation regarded as reverence to the Greatest Generation is now just trashed. 🙁

Trump's post on his site calling some Americans "Human Scum" was appalling and I was as shocked as Joe about the whole post on Memorial Day.

Compare trump and Eric posts to Biden at Arlington.

Trump could never pull off Arlington or Normandy because he is a nationalist and not a patriot and cannot process serving your country. Or the pain of those that did and died and their families.

Scarborough and Mika repeatedly went MIA during this morning's show.   A conversation would start and I'd be waiting for one of them to chime in ... then the camera pulls back and they're nowhere to be seen.   And this was during the first hour.   Then without warning they reappear again joining the conversation like they never left.  Ten minutes later, repeat.  

One of the times they phased back into this dimension, Mika attempted to interview one of Biden's campaign people.  I think she was trying to do hard news, but she came off like a scold.

Joe told viewers not to worry about Biden trailing Trump in the swing states. Democrats will come home to Biden in November.

Joe went on to discuss his successful campaigns in Congress. Joe went door to door looking for votes. Joe put up yard signs. Joe mocked his opponents who waived at voters at the state fair.

Joe said he warned viewers that Trump could win in 2016.

Heilamn mentioned how angry Joe was about the NY Times poll.

 

Heilmann said Biden has to aim for more than 270 votes.

Seems that the network does not have someone to do actual breaking news since Brian Williams. Then again, this network is All Politics All The Time. That is why they are sometimes a bit at sea when the breaking news is not political; but straight world, national events.

I didn't realize that Joe was on today.  When I tuned in, it was some of the usual gang.  I wondered how Joe could miss a huge news morning.  He may well have come back from "a break" - I just didn't stick around to see.

I miss BriWi so much. He would have had some great zingers yesterday afternoon during MSNBC coverage of the verdict.  

I'm surprised Mika wasn't drinking champagne out of a brandy snifter, sloshing it all over Willie,  doing her best Jeanine Piro via Cecily Strong impersonation. "No I haven't been drinking, I AM drinking". 

And Joe running around the set with an American flag tied around his shoulders screaming  USA USA USA.

I noticed Lisa Rubin was on again today.  She was on every show, every hour the day of the verdict and the days following.  I can almost quote her responses now.  I’m not a fan of hers and really miss the analysts and hosts like Matthew’s and Williams.  Lisa Rubin goes on too long with a question and regurgitates the exact same answers.  I’m not a fan of a few others, but boy has she gotten on my last nerve. I muted her this morning.

Joe's morning rant against Trump was a bit more subdued than normal.

Joe said Trump's been losing every year since 2017. Joe called Republicans the 1962 Mets.

Lemire said the GOP had many chances to get rid of Trump.

My schedule doesn't always allow for me to watch when the show airs at 6 am.   Just now I went to msnbc.com/live where you can stream MSNBC shows that have already aired.   Most shows make the entire episode available, whether it's Chris Hayes or Lawrence O'Donnell for an hour, or Nicole Wallace for 2 hours.

As you know, Morning Joe airs for four hours.   True, one of those four hours usually consists of a rebroadcast of the 6-7am segment.  Still, you would think that a four-hour show would make plenty of material available for rebroadcast on streaming.

You know what Morning Joe made available today?   A miserly 39 minutes.

Joe is furious at the WSJ for reporting that Biden was slipping in private meetings. Kevin McCarthy should not be used as a source. Joe said he has been in private meetings with Biden and he is tough. Barnicle called it a hit piece.

Joe said he met with Middle Eastern leaders & the French delegation. They told Joe that Biden is tough and fully engaged.

The WSJ should issue a retraction to keep Joe happy.

I have to agree with Joe on this one. 

First, why would Kevin McCarthy be a source for anything but ridicule?

Second, we only see President Biden speaking in public. He is known to have a stutter and isn't as eloquent as Presidents Obama or Clinton.  But that doesn't mean in private meetings, he isn't on top of what's going on. The man has been in politics for 50 plus years. He knows his shit. Do I agree with everything he does. No. But I have no doubt Kevin McCarthy is doing nothing but kissing Trump's ass when WSJ called him for a quote. 

This was a hit piece and click bait, and nothing more.

President Biden seemed just fine this morning at the D Day ceremony. His speech was appropriate, reminding everyone that the fight against fascism either oversees or here, is ongoing.   

I could tell Mika was choking up reading Barnicle's article and throughout the coverage, as was I.  My sister texted me that she got emotional when they did the cannon salute. I replied "I've been in tears for two hours".  Then they play the Band of Brothers theme and I'm like "are you trying to kill me". 

It was a lovely commemoration and it was nice not to have Joe yelling about something.

I don't know the context of the following.  At the end of the 8 am hour I  saw Diane Von Furstenberg sitting IN her bathroom sink...with bare legs, applying makeup.  I think she was demonstrating what women of a certain age go through when getting ready to go out in the morning and face the day? Meeka was either talking to her or commenting.  Was this part of KYV? I do give credit to Diane V ... she was fearless.  But still...it was really odd. Anyone else see this?

Mika's cousin Matthew was on the show today to discuss the situation in Ukraine. He wants Ukraine to get a Patriot System to defend against Russian missiles. He wants faster training for F16 pilots. He doesn't want NATO training Ukrainians in Ukraine because they could get targeted by the Russians. He also supports giving Ukraine more missiles.

Mika didn't want to interview him because he is family. She said her dad & his dad used to debate. 

Mika was excited that Paul Ryan said that Trump is unfit for office.

Joe used to brag about Paul Ryan and called him a policy wonk.

Because no one from WSJ would go on an MSNBC show, as Rupert Murdoch owns WSJ.

It is rather infuriating for WSJ to be so blatant in their bs story, getting quotes from people on the Right to prop up their nonsense. 

Sinclair owns a bunch of local stations and they make them read a story about Biden being old and mentally unfit. MSNBC programs play all of them over each other.  It's very "state tv".  Like 20 stations repeating the same thing, verbatim.

The point is, these media orgs are lying about Biden and someone needs to keep pointing it out.  Apparently Fox isn't showing Trump's rallies live because they're so off the wall. Compared to Biden stumbling over a word or two or not dancing at a June 19 celebration.  If we have to choose between Biden standing still and Trump doing his weird little shimmies and fist bumps. 

Also where do we all stand on Sharks vs Electrocution?   Anyone think you could just throw the battery at the shark?   That's a pretty good conk on the head if you chum the water and then get him close and bam.  No one ever thinks this stuff thru. 

I am enjoying the coverage of the Alito tape.  I can understand Martha being happy to vent to anyone who will listen to her flag fetish, but shouldn't  Alito recognize a leading question (that's like one of the main things lawyers object to)  and wonder why some stranger starts asking him a bunch of questions like "why do you think people don't like you guys?" 

Sad to hear about Howard Fineman. He was a good guy.

Does Joe remember Paul wanted to cut Medicare and Social Security?  You know, the stuff we all pay into our entire working  lives.

Wanna save Social Security? Get rid of the cut off on contributions. As long as you work, no matter how much you make, you should pay into it.  Letting the wealthier people not pay SS tax once they hit this threshold, but then get to have the benefit is ridiculous.  But I bet they cash those checks.
