Chuck Todd is gone? Praise Baby Jesus and the grown one too.

The shouting match was Joe screaming at Rachel Maddow, and Rachel just trying to get her point across when Joe interrupted her before she got two words out.  Sound familiar?  This is why I prefer not watching when Joe is on.

Chuck Todd was a rockstar at MSNBC in 2008. He was the only one who could figure out the delegate math between Clinton & Obama.

I was a subscriber to the Viva Chuck Todd Blog !

That episode was absolutely off-the-charts nutso.  Joe done lost his damn mind.

It seemed to me that he held zero respect for Chuck Todd.  If little insignificant Chuck Todd could have that job as moderator/host of Meet The Press, and because Joe felt he was superior to Chuck Todd, the show then belonged to Joe.  Joe made an enormous ass of himself, and that's saying something as making an ass of himself is his stock in trade.

There were reports that the network were not happy with Mika as a possible co host to Joe on Meet The Press.

Todd was unethical as a MTP host. He refused to disclose his financial relationships with the Senators that he was interviewing.

He was a landlord to Senator Klobuchar & his wife was a supplier to Senator Bernie Sanders.

He also lied about being a college graduate on election night panels.

Joe was very excited that  President Biden watched Morning Joe. Joe bragged on the show that he spoke to Biden frequently.

Joe wasn't honest with President Biden about the perception that he was too weak to fight back against the GOP.

Mika was excited that her friend Adrienne Elrod arranged a Know Your Value interview at the White House last spring.

Kamala Harris did not appear for an interview with Mika during the campaign.

Kamala did do an interview with Mika last year before the campaign but it wasn't about politics.

Mika & Joe are in mourning that their longtime frenemy Chuck Todd has left NBC/MSNBC.

Mika & Joe competed with Chuck for the job on Meet The Press in 2008 but lost.

Joe appeared once on MTP with Chuck as host but got into a shouting match with the other guests.

Chuck Todd had to deal with Debbie Wasserman Shultz during the 2016 campaign who was outraged that Mika was criticizing Hillary Clinton during the campaign. Chuck couldn't stop Mika.

Chuck Todd's hair loss can be directly attributed to having to deal with Mika & Joe.

Oakville, my friend, you never fail to make me laugh. Thank you.

Morning Joe should keep a tally visible on a white board behind their set.
$800,000 deporation flights
Fired employees in ATC and a fatal airliner crash
Eggs not available in some areas, for-profit shops are charging around $9 a dozen
Deported migrants and farms can't work any longer...

Etc... etc...

Documenting this and keeping it visible is a slam dunk.  Easy, easy TV.

Here is my thought on MJ. The hosts have completely checked out and (for me at least) Jonathan/Willie plus the regular peanut gallery cannot carry this show. Not that The Twins were any better this last couple of years or so. But it was fun for quite a few years. The Furries, the hungover hijinks on - was it The White House Lawn? The show filming in local bars and eateries around the country. Most of the time I even enjoyed the sports talk. Joe was serious when needed and a fun blowhard at other times. There was no KYV.

Seeing Joe in Rage Mode so often lately is maybe why he has been married three times. The man behind the curtain.

Agreed. The show used to be "Much Watch TV" in the morning, and I enjoyed recapping it.

It isn't fun to watch anymore.

So let me get this straight. Mika believes Trump is a straightforward man ... tells exactly what he's going to do, and did so during the campaign ... So believe him and that his move to get Gaza is not just some bargaining move. That he really wants the US to move into Gaza. Why is she so kind to this con man? Trump pledged during the campaign to end entanglements in that war and Ukraine, and around the world in general. So this Gaza thing is breaking that pledge if he's being truthful. Reality is some of what Trump says is true to  degree, but most of the time you can't believe a word he says.

When I tuned in, Jonathan L was the host...I guess. Is Joe off today? Granted, I just tune in and out so maybe miss him. Meeka was there and discussing the proposed takeover of Gaza. At this point the network should just buy out the rest of their contract(s) and start a new early morning show (not four hours) from scratch. From scratch. Possibly with no holdovers.

****Edited*** Oh my gosh, I should probably have put this in the "Hosts" thread; but I have no idea how to move it. Sorry.

Joe is off today after his gruelling schedule.

Mika & the rest of the panel are opposed to Trump's plan to take over Gaza and turn it into a Riviera.

Mika said she would not host any Know Your Value events in Gaza if Trump built a hotel there.

Egypt & Jordan don't want 2 million people from Gaza moving into their countries.

Yasmin Vasougian is reporting from Tel Aviv.

Interesting they had the actor from "Mo", who was on TDS Monday night.  I don't mind them having guests with worthwhile projects to promote or discuss. He has a very interesting story to tell.

I'm surprised Mika hasn't wanted to have Jesse Eisenberg on. Or did I miss it?  A Real Pain was filmed in Poland.

Someone upthread mentioned keeping a tally of the insanity and what it's costing America.  I think I heard Chris Matthews say the same thing in the  9 am hour.

I'm gonna say Rachel will implement it before JoMika get around to it.

Joe is outraged at Elon Musk for shutting down US AID. Joe said there may be waste in the program

Joe said it's up to Congress to stop funding of programs.

Mika is off today.

Joe supports birthright citizenship.

Joe supports the judges who will stop Exexutive Orders.

Joe said shutting funding to US AID is killing people around the world.

Joe is happy that Alonso is staying with the Mets

Joe said it's important to separate the signal from the ground noise.

Joe likes to negotiate over Gaza.

Joe spoke to people in the Middle East. They are worried about Trump taking over Gaza.

Joe started the show by talking about Jesus's sermon on the Mount. Joe's favorite book of the bible in Matthew.

Joe was happy that Pelosi prayed for Trump.

Mika said she was glad it was Friday after a long week.

Adrienne Elrod is the special guest today. She supports Mika's Know Your Value administrative.

Mika was shocked that US AID would be cut by 90% of the budget.

Joe said Democrats are not godless heathens.

Joe bragged that he balanced the budget 4 years in a row.

Joe said he is a small government conservative. They have to follow the law.

Today is a collection of Joe's greatest talking points.

Oakville ... lots to unpack with your recap. Meeka was happy for Friday after a long week? What, her very long work week? Adrienne Elrod? What is her job, exactly? How is she relevant to anything but KYV and Meeka.

Joe (and Newt G) balanced the budget four years in a row?  Didn't Bill Clinton, as President, have a little something something to do with that? I will give Joe and (gag)...Newt some credit. But he cannot stand the fact that fair or not...Clinton gets the praise. What a child. Joe brags about being a small government Conservative (that word is always uttered in hush whispers)...but don't all Conservatives believe in that?

This sounds terrible or bitter or whatever....I wish he and Meeka were gone.

Mika only had one day off this week. She worked four days and had to endure listening to Joe and Pablo talk about the Super Bowl.

Adrienne was a key adviser to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris during the election campaign. Adrienne recommended that Kamala campaign in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. If Kamala won those three states, she would be President. The difference was about 230,000 votes.

Joe admitted that Clinton attended meetings with Gingrich and himself. Clinton agreed with Joe that a balanced budget was necessary.

Joe challenged Clinton to a 1-1 basketball game and beat him. He called himself the White Shadow. There is a CBS show based on Joe teaching basketball to poor people.

Joe is a small government conservative who advocated abolishing several departments, including Education, Commerce, etc.

Joe advocated for the USA to withdraw from the United Nations.

It is hypocritical for Joe to bash Trump for cutting programs at US Aid when he would have done the same thing.

Mika said Know Yor Value will offer discounts to women from countries whose aid has been cut off by Trump.

It always amazes me that Joe is so delusional he still brags about what Newt Gingrich did to this country, like "balancing the budget" is on a par with curing cancer.

We are living the nightmare Gingrich and Joe, since he likes to claim credit for this hellscape, were the architects of.

https://history.princeton.edu/about/publications/burning-down-house-newt-gingrich-fall-speaker-and-rise-new-republican-party

This is a two paragraph summation of a book about Gingrich, here's the first sentences.

When Donald Trump was elected president in 2016, President Obama observed that Trump “is not an outlier; he is a culmination, a logical conclusion of the rhetoric and tactics of the Republican Party.” In Burning Down the House, historian Julian Zelizer pinpoints the moment when our country was set on a path toward an era of bitterly partisan and ruthless politics, an era that was ignited by Newt Gingrich and his allies.

So yeah Joe, you should be really proud of what you did to the country. Most people with an ounce of self awareness would stfu about being involved with Gingrich, but Joe is such an egotistical idiot he brags about it.  This is like bragging about loading the dishwasher before you set the house on fire.

Joe brags about loading the dishwasher every night. Mika bought a high-end Miele dishwasher and admitted to having trouble figuring out how it worked.

Joe handles the technological aspect of loading the dishwasher.

Joe went on a rant today about Trump not following Madisonian Democracy & the Courts will stop him.

Joe and George Conway both told viewers that they went to Law School and that Trump won't get away with his Executive Orders.

Joe said he advised the Philadelphia Eagles on how to beat the Chiefs. The key is to go after Patrick Mahomes & rattle him.

Joe highlighted several paragraphs from the NY Times and read them to viewers.

Joe said newspapers are essential.

I happy that the Chiefs lost. The Bills would have put up a better fight in the Super Bowl.

The latest ratings news for Morning Joe. Lemire took a pay cut to stay on Morning Joe.

https://www.tvinsider.com/1174755/msnbc-trump-ratings-morning-joe-rachel-maddow/

I didn't notice any mention of MJ's ratings going up; unlike many of the other shows. And the comments? Almost all have returned to MSNBC and love it; most hosts were mentioned.  But not Joe and Meeka. Hmmmmm

I tried Monday, yesterday and today.   Monday, lasted about 25 minutes before disgust set in.  Yesterday and today, no Scarborough, so 14 minutes and 10 minutes, respectively.

I thought about what the problem is, and it comes down to I just can't pretend that any of this is normal, let alone suffer those who do for a paycheck.

Same.  I watched a little today, Mika was giddy about the Congresswoman who is running for Governor of NJ.  She was in the military so Claire asked her about Hegseth and his misogyny.

I think the main topic, or one of them, was Trump and Pete H giving away the farm to Russia re Ukraine, BEFORE THE NEGOTIATIONS actually start.

And they talked about since the war is definitely not over, Trump's statement re ending the war on Day One, or even before Day One, was, as usual, bullshit.  Apparently Russia bombed the Chernobyl site, because it's near the Ukrainian border.  And we got a HS teacher back from Russia and gave them their cyber criminal.

Has it dawned on people who visit Russia to not take your weed, edibles, etc with you?  Being jailed for years is, of course, utter bullshit, but pot is illegal in Russia and they are looking for any reason at all to jail Americans.

I don't know why anyone from the USA, Canada or Western Europe would visit Russia under these circumstances. You are an easy target for arrest for any reason.

I agree with others that MSNBC needs a new morning show. I watched this morning and Mika has so many things that just get on my nerves. And Joe was out, with no explanation, even after such a long period of holidays and other days off. Not that he's so great -- It's just annoying. Why should people watch the show if the hosts are all fed up with it all?

I'd like to see a shift to more entertainment/arts focus. Hard to think of great host examples right now, but I know there are good ones. Don Imus managed to have a great show that wasn't politics-based.

I agree!  I don't mind a little politics, but that stuff should be left to shows in the evening. I think Nicole has the most balanced show in that she lets the guests do most of the talking, she just leads the conversations by asking questions and letting them talk.

Joe and Mika are either just worn out or have realized they were never really that good at it and have started phoning it in.

I prefer the Daily Show in the morning. It's fun, and they get great guests. They've had directors of Oscar nominated movies, politicians, authors, legal analysts, etc.

They could still do political headlines and have brief discussions, but, yeah, the way Nicole does it. Not the way Joe does it with the poor guest's face being on screen next to Joe while Joe asks boring 5 minute questions, designed to show his "brilliance". Stephanie Ruhle would be good. She's sharp on politics and the economy and has a lighter touch and does well with humor. John Fugelsang or someone like that could be a co-host or regular. All sorts of possibilities.

I agree on Stephanie Ruhle; I would like to see her have a daytime show again. I am not sure about a show starting at 6am is the time (for me) to focus on entertainment. Meaning celebrities.

I still like the idea of a news-centered show; but one that would include sports news (besides Red Sox), entertainment news, weather, etc. I still enjoy the political discussions; I just want to hear them from a new set of hosts. Maybe Michael Steele; and anyone he would want to bring onboard.
