It was like the two of them have been transformed into Stepford Wives.  Without the least bit of irony, they boasted about all the cards and letters they have received from Trump supporters thanking them -- thanking them! -- for their (dare we say it?) fair and balanced reporting on the election.

Mika proceeded in careful monotone to pledge that they will remain impartial as the new administration comes to power and of course, of course they welcome members of the new administration to come on the show and discuss important matters like how to make that big faucet in the mountains easier to turn (okay, okay, so they didn't mention the faucet).

Astounding.   Just fucking astounding.

It's as if they concluded that the 50% of viewers who have abandoned MSNBC must be those with good judgment and a strong instinct for self-preservation, and those who are left are amnesiac schlubs won't hold it against them if they just start pretending like the past ten years never happened.

It was exactly the closure I needed.

The House Ethics will be issuing a report on Gaetz.

I  turned it on around 8:05 am to see the 6 am rerun. I caught Mika bringing up the stuff about Joe being involved in the death of his aide, which was completely debunked.  Because Gaetz told Trump and Trump tweeted about it.  Like what five six years ago? 

But of course, we can't just talk about how terrible these cabinet picks are. We have to make it about ourselves.  Am I missing something? Why would you remind people who believe every crackpot rumor about this? 

Joe and Mika are totally shopping themselves to other networks. What other show on MSNBC is courting Trump voters?  Did they not see how this worked out on CNN with their old pal Chris Licht?  

It's like they realize no one is watching so they're just going nuts. 

I did see Claire asking Andrew Weissberg about Gaetz, she seemed like a voice of reason. 

Everyone and their brother knew the minute Gaetz' appointment was announced even hardcore right wing Republicans would be "what the fuck".

Senator Claire has a list of 11 Senators who will vote against Gaetz. Grassley & Mitch McConnell won't vote for him.

Claire said the Senate won't put up with Trump's nonsense.

Claire said the FBI would do a background check on Gaetz. He won't pass according to Claire.

At this point if Newsmax matched their salaries I wouldn't be remotely surprised if they went there.

Mika's "thing" this show was no one should be surprised about any of these appointments. Her thinking is voters knew this would happen and chose this. So, I guess, she's implying, not just don't be shocked, but move on?? When she gets this sort of "thing" going on in her head nothing anyone can say will dispel it. People over and over were saying these picks go beyond what anyone, even repubs, expected or voted for. Yet Mika persists with this obsession.

Later edit. The RFK Jr app't this afternoon in fact IS something no one should be surprised at. Trump and RFK have been saying this for weeks. She should not lump this in with her belief no one should be surprised about Gaetz.

Like I said earlier, I don't know what's going on with Morning Joe, but I just watched a little of Deadline: White House. Nicole and Rachel Maddow are not saying "well let's just wait and see what happens", or "give them a chance to have a confirmation hearing, yada yada",  or "welcome Trump voters, if we know anything, you guys love two women calling out all the bullshit Donald Trump has done and is doing to dismantle the US Constitution and the three equal branches of government".   They aren't re litigating the election or what happened. They are full on "JFC what the hell is happening??!!?" 

I guess Joe and Mika have 100% gone rogue. There hasn't been a directive to lower the temperature on the rhetoric to the network. 

Let's see how they react to RFK Jr being named as Secretary of HHS. Can't wait to see that confirmation hearing.

I would not be surprised if they go to Fox. Think about it .. Joe is a true Conservative (in a hushed, revered tone); and would relish being able to bloviate on his years in Congress. I do remember Lawrence O'Donnell reading RFKJ for absolute filth last year, blasting him without mercy for his awful judgment, his terrible conspiracy theories, his sex diary, his misuse of his own privilege, his victimhood, et cetera. It was accurate and it was glorious. Joe went on air the next morning to say he knew RFKJ, stating he was (in the language of men who have the privilege of not having to care about the character of people in their circle) "a good guy". 

I'm gonna take a big leap and guess that Joe will open with something similar  tomorrow.

Looks like they had more thank you cards to read this morning. 

At least it's two people who are calling out the bullshit.  Lemire and Heileman are hosting. 

I guess Joe couldn't take being called out for his "Bobby's a great guy" nonsense.  Lemire is reading a NEW YORK POST article calling RFK Jr insane. 

And we've all completely forgotten about the batshit affair he had with Olivia Nuzzi. 

Heileman and Lemire are stating unequivocally:  The insanity is the point. 

I have to say, RFK Jr scares me the most if he gets in.  He will stop infectious disease research. If the government doesn't approve vaccines, we don't get them for free as a gov't health program.  He will dismantle the NIH.  Remember COVID?  We're heading into flu season and this asshat could be in charge of getting vaccinations out to the public. 

Guess Joe doesn't care about that as he and Meeks and their wealth aren't affected.  

I'm sure RFK Jr will get the price of eggs and butter lower. Idiots.

Joe explained his differences with Trump.

Mika admitted that 80 million Americans didn't care about January 6th or election denialism.

Joe wants both parties to work together.

Joe said top Democrats told Joe that they were open to a new approach.

Mika said personal attacks don't work. Mika is afraid of people going on trial.

Mika said Clinton & Trump benefitted from being on trial.

Mika said she would speak truth to power.

Joe said they will not defend Trump.

Joe called Trump the day after the Trump assassination attempt. This was not disclosed at the time.

Holy Shit .   So yeah this is CNN all over again, trying to placate Trump and his cronies for ratings.  Until they make one misstep and Trump attacks Mika or calls Joe a murderer and we're off to the races yet again.  Of course Trump was pleasant. He loves it when he beats his enemies into submission.  

Personally I like The Daily Show's take on Trump's second term.  "Fuck around and find out". In other words, you wanted this nightmare, it's all yours.

Joe was outraged at Ted Cruz when he supported Trump after Trump called his wife ugly. Now Joe said it's okay that Trump called him a murderer & mocked Mika's plastic surgery. Trump also called the founder of KYV, which is the gold standard of women's empowerment groups, "Dumb as a box of rocks"

Hegseth denies the sexual assault investigation. She was married and couldn't explain to her husband why she didn't come back to her hotel room. The woman couldn't find her way back to her husband's hotel room. This is messy.

I wish I could quote everyone's comments and applaud.  I saw the news of The Twins about-face (putting it kindly) on Mediate. I think Oakville's comment on Joe being the Neville Chamberlain of cable talk show hosts is one of my favorites because it made me snicker and pissy at the same time. Joe is an opportunist with a massive ego to boot. 

Surely the network would not make The Twins do the turnaround...would they? Joe is bigger than the network! I wonder if any other hosts will get onboard the Surrender Dorothy Train.

David Iggy saying that Tulsi and Pete don't have government experience... is his only concern about them? Joe wants viewers to read The New York Post? I think this is one of the most egregious, insulting things he has ever said. That is who he thinks we are. And this I will never, ever be okay with.

I subscribe to Heilmann's Puck News blog. The media analyst Dylan Byers has been reporting that cable news networks plan to cut the salaries of anchors across the board. Wallace quit CNN because they offered him a big pay cut to stay on TV. Hoda at NBC was not offered a pay increase so she quit the Today show.

Mika & Joe want to stay on TV. Can MSNBC justify paying them $16million per year if ratings are reduced by 50%.

In addition, Joe's credibility has taken a hit this year over his lavish support of Biden & his vilifying of Trump. Mika & Joe are getting roasted on Twitter again.
