From above: Possibly the final two categories, "Presentation" and "Literary Style" (whatever those are supposed to be), in which Jan gets marks of 10 respectively, are out of 10, but still doesn't work, as then the highest total possible would be 95. The teacher just deducted 10 points and thinks the total of 98 is still possible is equally nonsensical. The grading system being used by the teacher is incorrect, as it never adds up to 100. But, if just one of them is worth 10, then it does absolutely work, which is what I said. Link to comment

Egg McMuffin December 23, 2023 Share December 23, 2023 I really hate the Christmas movie. It’s sappier and cornier than the series ever was. All the separate little dramas for each that were miraculously resolved by the end - ugh. And I pretty much disliked all the in-laws, like Greg’s wife, the New Gidget, who decided that her family was more important than the Bradys because of some aunt she hadn’t seen in a while. I also disliked uptight Philip. And loser Wally. Marcia would have been better off marrying Doug Simpson or Warn Mullaney. Even Harvey the bug boy might have been preferable; I bet he could at least hold a job. I even disliked de facto in-law Sam, who was a cheating bastard and also played by a different actor. 1 3 Link to comment
merylinkid May 26 Share May 26 I have failed as a spouse. Last night I learned my husband has never seen the Hawaii episodes. He was telling me about some article he read about an ancient idol being found. I was all "I've seen that episode of the Brady Bunch, don't touch it." He had no idea what I was talking about. 5 Link to comment

mmecorday June 21 Share June 21 I watched the one about Marcia's braces the other day. I guess no one bothered to do some research about braces. Carol says the the dentist put braces on Marcia's teeth, but doesn't an orthodontist do that? And in most of the scenes she's not even wearing braces. Link to comment

Never mind that Eve, Michael & Susan later got real braces (in real life) and it was never even addressed. That said, Jan’s glasses were real because Eve really needed glass. Then she later ditched them for contacts so she could be be hotter than Maureen. Sure, Jan. 2 Link to comment

Interestingly, it was during that Miss McCormick had that rather ugly cry about 'I'm UGLY!' when seeing herself with the braces for the first time which went far beyond what was necessary for the usually comedic drama llama character. As per her autobio, it had been shortly before the episode in which her male parent had meanly revealed that her poor mother had been born with syphilis which had hobbled her health her entire life (and the only reason Miss McCormick and her brothers didn't get it was that she took some kind of very strong medicine before the delivery). Yeah, I know all the above is rather cynical but, yes, I did encounter rotten teachers like Mrs. Watson in my academic trek sometime between nursery school and college graduation. Now i wish to see Eve Plumb in an AI version of the 1976 DePalma film (no offence to Miss/Ms. Spacek)... 1 Link to comment
Dimity September 30 Share September 30 I posted in another thread that "Greg" turned 70 today. I guess we've been lucky that so far all the Brady kids have made it well into adulthood and some are in what has been coined 'the golden years' (not by me). Anyway happy birthday Barry and jeeze we're all getting up there! 3 Link to comment

She was older and she treated her co-lead as if he were dirt under her shoe, wanted to change the script, etc. Whereas Cindy was just a brat and told Bobby she was just smarter than he was. Plus she was 8 or 9 to Marcia's 13. 1 Link to comment
tearknee November 14 Share November 14 Why Marcia is anyone's favorite character, IDNK. Nancy Allen and Rachel McAdams have the skill to make their respective characters "love to hate". Marcia's actor just isn't on that level for any role. Link to comment

Blergh November 24 Share November 24 I've often wondered why Mike and Carol used their kids as their respective 'best men' and 'bridesmaids' . Did neither of them have any same gendered sibs or adult friends they could have asked despite Mike's career as an architect and Carol's fun personalty or was the writers' way to not have to cast any more extras? P.S. Carol's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tyler actually hosted the wedding in their large backyard after having taken their daughter and three granddaughters into their home X# of years after the. ..end of Carol's marriage to a Mr. Martin. Yet, at the end of Season Five, it would be revealed that Carol evidently had a brother who was Cousin Oliver's dad yet no sign of that branch of the Tylers d at the service despite their mutual parents having hosted the wedding! 2 Link to comment
tearknee November 24 Share November 24 Well over on "Family Ties", Elyse Keaton refers to herself in a talk with her mom as "your only daughter" but later has a sister called Michelle... I'm sure it makes sense... somehow! 1 Link to comment
Egg McMuffin December 10 Share December 10 We never found out which one of Oliver’s parents is Carol’s sibling. She mentions in season 5 that Jack has to go to a remote area for work and Pauline is going with him. But that’s it. 1 Link to comment

But, as I said earlier, Carol mentioned Jack first when talking about the couple and most folks usually list their sibs first when talking about them and their sibs-in-law so I think it's more likely than not that Jack was her brother and Pauline her sister-in-law. Curiously Robbie Rist in recent years has made a webpage with the pseudonym 'Oliver Martin' so he evidently believes that Martin had been Cousin Oliver's surname- even though Mrs. Brady's parents' surname was Tyler AND Martin had been her own (and her daughters') surname previous to her Brady union so that might somehow offer a clue. ..or perhaps Mr. Rist got confused. Dimity December 11 Share December 11 (edited) I always assumed Oliver was Carol's nephew because he was blond. No other reason. Just made sense to me at the time 😀. Edited December 11 by Dimity Link to comment

Not buying that reasoning given the actual dialog. Carol mentions Jack first because Jack is the one who is being transferred. Carol: “Jack is being sent to South America on an engineering project and he’s taking Pauline with him.” There simply isn’t definitive proof whether Jack or Pauline is Carol’s sibling.
