madam magpie November 2, 2015 Share November 2, 2015 Oh wow I guess I completely missed or forgot about that. Was that last season? Yeah. It's the episode where Rayna falls apart in the music room at her house after the first liver doesn't happen. Then she and Deacon go play at the Bluebird and Bev arrives with a miraculous change of heart. Link to comment

kassa November 2, 2015 Share November 2, 2015 With how this show usually goes, though, what are the odds that after Will's latest breakup with Kevin, Will and Layla will agree to "try again" as he helps her over her grief? Or they just have a combination of grief/wish-I-hadn't-outed-myself sex, and we end up with a Who's the Daddy storyline. Link to comment
thaliasghost November 2, 2015 Share November 2, 2015 Or they just have a combination of grief/wish-I-hadn't-outed-myself sex, and we end up with a Who's the Daddy storyline. Not that Nashville hasn't become a full blown soap opera but the "Layla has to find out whether her unborn child is the last remnant from the love of her life or the child of her gay ex who tried to comfort her very physically"" surely get us there! (But they will hardly do the same storyline twice). I'm just annoyed at the writers and their "unexpected sources." Of course it will be Will. Link to comment
Stripper Glitter November 2, 2015 Share November 2, 2015 OMG! Surprise ending. I was just starting to like Jeff. I KNOW. I just watched today and even though I knew it was coming I was still upset. He was becoming likeable. Poor Layla. 1 Link to comment
TheGourmez November 3, 2015 Share November 3, 2015 (edited) I was totally shocked to see Jeff take the plunge. Loved his amazeballs eyes as he went doooooownnn..... This is going to suck for Layla. She's a mess of mood swings on a good day, but I like the character. And now she doesn't have a boyfriend OR a manager! EGADS! Will anyone ever put her first?! *throws things* How long is this PPD story going to go? It reached boring about a case of vodka and 50 "I'm sorry" texts ago. I didn't mind finding out that Beverly bragged about Scarlett all the time--I agree with the poster who said whom are friends know is not the same person as whom our families know. But dear god, I loved that Scarlett had a horrible mother, and this is too much fond reflection for too long. Frankly, Scarlett went to forgiving her way too fast. Coma or not, I may not have gone to visit in the hospital at all if that were my mother. Very much over Will's angst. I agree--get him a therapist and a handbook on the gay civil rights movement. He needs a cultural understanding of himself, STAT. Edited November 3, 2015 by TheGourmez Link to comment

Sandman November 3, 2015 Share November 3, 2015 If this show has Will and Layla falling drunkenly and/or commiseratingly in bed only to have Layla get pregnant by her gay ex-husband, it's all over. Another Who's The Daddy story? No. Uh-uh! Done. Link to comment

romantic idiot November 3, 2015 Share November 3, 2015 To prevent slapping a murder rap on Juliette? I don't know. Nothing is too bizarre for the direction of this show. I'm SO disappointed in "Nashville" - last time I felt this way was when "Smash" crashed and burned in just two seasons. Both shows had/have brilliant premises that showed tons of promise but crummy and unbelievable storylines and characters that put them in the dumpster. (Interesting that Will Chase was/involved with both shows.) I want Deacon back. I want Juliette to be happy for more than five minutes. I want the show to be about the music again. I understand teenage attitude and angst but Maddie is just over-the-top. And I hate that Markus character. Perhaps Jeff will joint Beverly in sainthood. Add me to the list of people who miss Teddy. This is a sad state of affairs. Oh no, as long as we are spared the McPhee and Karen Cartwright, I will say that there is no way Nashville can be brought as low as Smash. Beverly may have submitted with her maiden name and not necessarily before she was married. And no, we don't know anything about Scarlett's dad, I've always wondered about him, actually. Especially because she started her career and had some moderate success with her maiden name. Plus Bev would totally try to leverage the Claybourne name while cursing Deacon. 2 Link to comment
aradia22 November 9, 2015 Share November 9, 2015 I still enjoy the show but not only is watching Juliette crash draining after 4 seasons but it's no longer as effective. I still love Hayden but why can't Juliette just be happy with Avery. Are the writers incapable of doing that? The season started off OK and there was a while when I remembered why I liked this show but enough of this. Juliette was on the road back to normal and then Avery rejects her and sends her spiraling again? This is getting real dumb. Jeff is still the worst. For a while Shia from UnReal was the worst but his completely unsupportive behavior in the face of Juliette's crisis this week clenched it. If we need to watch someone crash and burn can it be Markus? He's useless. 2 Link to comment
mousegirl November 10, 2015 Share November 10, 2015 (edited) Aradia22, I'm with you. What I'd love to see is a Spinal Tap-like scene showing Markus blowing up on stage. Then we can forget he ever existed. I love Hayden, too. But the Juliette-in-major-meltdown stuff needs to end. This makes me sound like a terrible person, but I would rather have seen her go off the ledge and not Jeff. I found myself wanting to laugh out loud during the hotel room scene when she's drinking and drugging. It was so ridiculously OTT. There's a fine line between high drama and parody, and the show went way over that line. When you find yourself wanting to LOL at a character going through a full-blown mental, emotional and physical breakdown, guess what? That character's storyline is officially a piece of burnt toast. It's getting harder and harder to feel sympathy or connection with the people in this show. The acting is outstanding, as always, and I love the music. But the writers are turning almost everyone on Nashville into endlessly whining, self-pitying, self-absorbed, weepy little drama queens, who all need desperately to GROW THE HELL UP. The only person I can stand anymore is Rayna, and even her perfectly loving, understanding earth-mother schtick is wearing thin. I do plan to watch some of next week because the trailer showed Rayna ripping into Deacon about the idea of partnering with his AA sponsor to run a bar. Sounds like fun! Of course, this whole scenario means that the only happy relationship on the show is about to go off the rails, at least for a bit, and Deacon will have more reasons to break things and have a sad. And we'll have Layla wailing over Jeff's death, and more Scarlett whimpering about her "sainted" dead mother, and Will moping and sighing because Kevin is gone, and Maddie and Daphne crying in their rooms over this, that and the other, and basically enough tears flowing to drown the whole damn city of Nashville. Really, it's time to find another program to watch. Bad show. Edited November 10, 2015 by mousegirl 2 Link to comment
damnman November 10, 2015 Share November 10, 2015 I'm sick of all the pain (especially man pain), I'm with everybody else that needs the writers to lighten things up a little (like Juliette spying in a disguise moments) instead of this constant pain everyone is in, although wouldn't a Maddie-Markus hookup just be too entertaining??? 1 Link to comment
Sutton November 10, 2015 Share November 10, 2015 I also blame the writers for how this show is crashing down but the one person who is in charge is Callie (?). Isn't she (Creator of the series) the person who lays out what direction the season will go and give the writers her ideas on what she wants to happen. If not then who the heck is in charge. Season #1 was the best and I can assume it was Callie's idea having a Country Music series, (She even had her husband T Bone produce the first years songs) a strong Famous Country Music woman to challenge a male dominated industry and come out successful, so what happened. I agree, enough with all the sad drama get this series back to why I watched it in the first place and that was for the music, interesting characters (Rayna, Deacon, Juliette and a few others) and not for all the other characters who should have been gone by now. Now we have Markus (I would also like to see him blow up on stage) I hope he isn't going to be around for a whole season because as a FAN of Nashville I will FF his scenes. I thought watching this series it was going to be how adults cope with fame, disappointment, drama in their lives and the baggage that comes with going after your dream in the Country Music Industry. Nashville get back on track to what this series was suppose to be and not what it's turned into. Link to comment
aradia22 November 10, 2015 Share November 10, 2015 (edited) I love Hayden, too. But the Juliette-in-major-meltdown stuff needs to end. This makes me sound like a terrible person, but I would rather have seen her go off the ledge and not Jeff. As bad as things get, I would never want Juliette to go over the side of the building because Hayden is what's keeping me here. But knowing Nashville, they'd have her miraculously survive but permanently paralyzed and with a great deal of pain so she could get addicted to painkillers and blah, blah... *eyeroll* I don't know why they insist on wasting their best actor and what used to be their best character. I still think they should have drawn out that stuff with her mother for longer but they were so eager to kill that character off. They've burned through plotlines and in the meantime made us suffer through tedium. But even past that then they gave me Juliette and Avery and I was happy but they needed to destroy that as quickly as they could because as much as they talk about feminism and strong female characters they just love beating Juliette down. At least we're through with most of the slut-shaming. Edited November 11, 2015 by aradia22 4 Link to comment
