WendyCR72 October 16, 2015 Share October 16, 2015 Members of the firehouse are frustrated with their inability to help Chief Boden, whose job is on the line pending an internal investigation in the aftermath of a complicated call to a fire. Meanwhile, Lt. Severide struggles to accept his smaller role and adjusts to the presence of Capt. Patterson, his new commanding officer. Dawson shakes things up on the work front, and Casey attempts to find a crucial piece of evidence in his ongoing investigation against Nesbitt. Elsewhere, Herrmann struggles to keep the peace with Molly's newest neighbors. Link to comment
Happy Harpy October 21, 2015 Share October 21, 2015 (edited) I still don't like Patterson and I definitely don't trust him. He's manipulative and I don't like how he's buttering up to Boden. I'm more and more certain that he wants his place. Did Brett catch Shay's baby fever? This doesn't sound like it will end well. OK, Severide. Is it too much to ask to have, what, more than three scenes of build-up before he jumps in bed with a female character? I feel that it relegated Rachel Nichols' character to the status of LI du jour and that I shouldn't invest in her character or in the "romance". It's probably better, since I found her attitude toward Brett and Chili a tad off and I fear she might be another nutcase. I hope I'm wrong. I don't know how I feel about Casey and Voight. Voight is my favorite character on CPD, and I don't think that he and Casey will be buddies anytime soon if I believe what the EP said. But it still feels like damage control because the writers had Hank go too far against Casey before they decided he'd be shades of gray for the spinoff. I generally like Dawson, for all her flaws, but I have to admit that I found Boden's reaction at the news a tad bit OTT. Nevertheless, I'm glad she found something of importance. At first, she looked so bored that even I could see the chip on her shoulder getting bigger by the second and I feared she was going to create office drama in Arson with the usual delicacy she shows whenever she's frustrated. Crossing my fingers so that the karaoke night, played for laugh, won't come to bit Steve back in the ass in a serious storyline because I thought it was an awesome response to the exasperating hipsters. New candidate is still a cutie and they're still so setting up "my blood family against my firefighter family" drama. Edited October 21, 2015 by Happy Harpy Link to comment
MakeMeLaugh October 21, 2015 Share October 21, 2015 This episode was hilarious. Who hides stuff behind the finished off drywall, and what, did the dead stripper do the install, taping, and painting decorating herself? Please. If Voight and Bodin ever get in a conversation with just the two of them using those gravel whisper voices, my volume control doesn't go high enough to hear them. Gabby is much more believable in the arson office than she is as a firefighter. She should stay there. Forever. Our two paramedics looked like they were working on their Girl Scout paramedic badges in their beach rescue. Oops I accidentally shocked the innocent bystander and stopped her heart--can I still get my badge? They don't exactly inspire confidence. The whole investigation re the crack house seems so fake--the higher ups must be involved but why???? Will House 51 be able to solve the mystery and take down the conspiracy against them (duh, by Thanksgiving, no sweat)? Don't these people know anyone in the media to drop some tips to? Trooper York October 21, 2015 Share October 21, 2015 So it looks like the hipster douchebags is going to be a thing. Of course the idiots writing this show don't understand what going "Chicago on their ass" means. Look the bar is the hangout of a bunch of fireman and cops. How many tickets and violations do you think they can give these morons. The way things work in a big city is you are violating about fifty city laws no matter what you do. If anyone really looks at you they can ticket you up the wazzoo. Herman should just get some of his buddies to do an inspection and they should get a ticket every time they ride in their car. Make it hurt. That is the Chicago way. 5 Link to comment

Chas411 October 22, 2015 Share October 22, 2015 (edited) Terrible episode and so disappointing. No stakes at all. Just pointless drama with black and white villains and heroes. No suspense, just really lazy writing. As if 51 would really be under investigation after the neighbours blockaded the street. As if Boden's superiors and internal affairs would be so against 51 when investigating. It's all just so stupid. I've no idea why Kelly's new superior is acting so dodgy because I don't even recall him doing anything wrong that day. I can't believe this storyline is getting dragged across another episode. As if the villainous neighbour can really get attorney's involved and be a legit threat to Molly's after making a decision to move next door to an established bar. But no, lets watch Molly's get shut down until Hermann saves the kid from a fire and she has a change of heart. So eyerolling and predictable. So happy the Nesbitt thing is done at long last. I couldn't care less about Katya and her death had no impact on me. The storyline was done to service a PD crossover and facilitate the end of the Voight/Casey feud but even the crossover with Voight failed this week as considering his cliffhanger in PD last week there's no way he'd be casually tailing Casey and discussing fatherhood this week. I get that the storyline is to clear up their feud but it completely took me out of the storyline because as a PD fan Voight being their made no sense. Hated Sylvie's storyline with the baby... Please just make it stop as I can't handle ANOTHER baby storyline. Edited October 22, 2015 by Chas411 1 Link to comment
Trooper York October 22, 2015 Share October 22, 2015 (edited) Noise complaints against established bars and restaurants is a daily occurrence in a big city. Hipster douches move in to "gentrify" a neighborhood and want the people who live there to conform to their lifestyle. They will call the cops on a party on a Saturday night because of their precious rug rats. They will continue to harass and bring legal actions against anything that impinges on their prerogatives. Regardless of the fact that this was the norm for the neighborhood for hundreds of years. In my neighborhood the douches tried to stop the church bells from ringing on a Sunday morning as they have done for two hundred years. You would think in the borough of churches they would have a clue. Edited October 22, 2015 by Trooper York 3 Link to comment
MakeMeLaugh October 22, 2015 Share October 22, 2015 I only knew one cop bar in Chicago and it was pretty secretive, not the popular noisy bar Molly's has become. But nimbys shuttting down an existing cop bar just is not going to happen in real life I wouldn't think. The whole plotline for it is too predictable. Link to comment

I really would like to know how they explain this plotline works within the universe these shows have created. Because as someone who watches Fire and PD, if these parents wanted to file a noise complaint, they would have to go to the local police station, where the desk sergeant they would meet would be Trudy. How the hell would that scene have gone down, when she is not only a regular who is dating a firefighter, but she is also the kind of cop who wouldn't put up with this kind of bullshit. 5 Link to comment
tomatoflyer October 23, 2015 Share October 23, 2015 I quite enjoyed this episode. I like Dawson best when she's not working with Casey. I also had quite a few laugh out loud moments like the paramedics shocking the bystander/fiance, the attempt at keeping the pregnancy quoet and the karaoke. I'm also protective of the CF crew, so I'm totally on Severide's side - Patterson is not quite right. Interested to see where things are headed with him. I really enjoy the combination of antics + drama. Most dramas are too heavy-handed for me lately while most comedies are lacking in laughs altogether. Link to comment
Dowel Jones October 23, 2015 Share October 23, 2015 The bar: Wasn't Molly's located catercorner more or less from Sta. 51? If so, how did the newbie miss it all during his shift? And how do the ingrates sleep through a dispatch in the middle of the night? If it's not near the station, disregard these questions. Although Hermann's rage was understandable, going loud right after the confrontation might not be the right thing to do. If it was me living in that house, I wouldn't even bother with the cops. I'd go straight to the American Federation of Musicians local with a tape of Hermann's "singing". (smirk) So Gabby slides right into the Arson Investigation Unit. Who would have guessed? By the way, working around burned houses and inhaling the air, even after the fire is out, might be just a little hazardous to baby's health. Side note: Courts have held that usually the authorities need a search warrant to enter premises in search of evidence of arson after the fire has been controlled and the FD leaves the scene. But what the hell. It's Gabby. I didn't quite understand the scene security problem at the car accident early in the episode. Boden was the Incident Commander; why didn't he squawk for the PD as soon as he saw the crowd? That's their job, crowd control. The medics: Shocking a victim with an AED instead of a manual defibrillator? Is CFD in that big of a financial fix? And that accident is totally, totally on the medic. It's their job to clear the victim, not just yell clear. During the car chase underneath the elevated tracks, I was so hoping they would have thrown in a cameo of a black sedan (white doors) with a cop motor, cop tires, and cop suspension speeding in the opposite direction. Toward the Honorable Richard J Daley Plaza. 1 Link to comment

(smirk) The thing that bugs me about the complaining parents, is that the obvious resolution is that they are going to be in an accident or fire or something and the guys from firehouse 51 are probably going to save them (or at very least their baby), causing them to rethink their opinion about Molly's. Side note: Courts have held that usually the authorities need a search warrant to enter premises in search of evidence of arson after the fire has been controlled and the FD leaves the scene.
