Black Knight May 7 Share May 7 So the Steelers trade one of their top WRs to the Cowboys. Weakening the WR room seems like a move that would make Rodgers less inclined to play QB for them, so maybe they're kind of giving up on him. They are probably better off taking a chance on the guy they drafted. Isn't next year's QB draft class better than this year's? Even if he's not good you put yourself in a position to get a QB next year. Rodgers with a first time head coach feels like a recipe from for disaster. At this point Rodgers anywhere feels like a bad decision maybe he should follow Carr's lead. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/599/#findComment-8658353

Carey May 14 Share May 14 No news as of this post for whoever Detroit hosts on Thanksgiving, but Kansas City has the other holiday occupied with a Football Game at AT&T. Just wonderful. I might actually experience the art of enjoying dinner without the television on that day. On a different, non-schedule note, I can't blame Trey Hendrickson for sitting out 2025 under his current contract. Sure the league is offense these days, but that franchise isn't really one that can flex within that player & that side of the ball. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/599/#findComment-8661176

The 2025 NFL Schedule will air for 2 hours on ESPN2 & for 3 hours on NFL Network tonight. Yay. (😒) Frankly, I'm only going to spend an hour watching this. Then, its back to NFL Summer Vacation. Anything more than an hour for me is basically brain rot inducing. Speaking of NFL Schedule, I will probably be watching. But, I'm pretty much over Bills - Chiefs. We all know what's going to happen in the upcoming season. The Bills beat the Chiefs in the regular season. Then when it really counts in the Playoffs, the Chiefs will find a way to beat the Bills again. Also, I find Ravens - Bills to be very meh. Both of their quarterbacks can't seem to beat Patrick Mahomes when it counts & I'm really not here for another season of stomach turning debates over which of those 2 quarterbacks is the MVP, when neither one of them can't beat the Chiefs in the Playoffs. If the Steelers end up signing Aaron Rodgers, I will instantly root against them. Carey May 15 Share May 15 No sense in posting anymore info as it relates to the schedule...all of those 272 games have been disclosed. Something there to be happy and unhappy about. BTW, of all of the things the league does just to satisfy something that hasn't happened yet, I guess Jacksonville on Thanksgiving isn't one of them. Those I'd rather not watch them this year. 18 hours ago, Magog said: If the Steelers end up signing Aaron Rodgers, I will instantly root against them. Looks like we'll be hating each other this year! Anyway, Aaron Rodgers is similar to Mike Vick for me. Except the former hasn't done anything super awful off the field. My point is I'm going to support the team. If he helps win games alright, if not, so be it. Outside of that, no point in total focus with the guy. bluegirl147 May 15 Share May 15 (edited) The Jets is interesting for a couple reasons. One we get to see if it was a mistake to let Justin Fields go. And two was it a mistake to sign Aaron Rodgers if we do in fact sign Rodgers. My problem with Aaron Rodgers is the chaos he brings. And also he is another aging QB. We need to look to the future. If we have a rough couple years so be it. These band aids at QB aren't cutting it. Magog May 15 Share May 15 Also, if anybody's wondering, here are the Thanksgiving games for the upcoming season. 1. Packers at Lions (😒) meh... And I'm also not here for the Packers. 2. Chiefs at Cowboys (🤬) An absolute hate watch, root for neither type of game. Plus, Taylor Swift will probably be at the game. (🤢) Its bad enough that Jerry Jones & his stupid son Stephen Jones will be their usual obnoxious selves with their presence. Even more reasons this game will be a flat out hate watch. 3. Bengals at Ravens (😒) Yay. Neither one the them is going to the Super Bowl nor beating the Chiefs this season. So, this game probably won't be exciting to watch in 6 months. Black Knight May 17 Share May 17 $180 million guaranteed ranks him eighth among QBs. Not cheap but I don't think it can be said that it's an overpay, either. They didn't reset the QB market with him. The 49ers have bigger issues with money tied up in aging vets. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/599/#findComment-8664660

Black Knight May 17 Share May 17 Well, you said "yesterday" - which ties their window closing specifically to Purdy's new contract. The better argument would be to say their window was already closed because of the contracts they've given out to the aging vets. In terms of salary cap tied up by QB, Purdy's new deal still has him just 14th among QBs. Obviously not as low as when he was getting paid as a 7th-round pick, but still rather an excellent deal for the 49ers. His contract doesn't break anything. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/599/#findComment-8664671
Carey May 19 Share May 19 I understand that Purdy isn't in the top 10 in terms of active QBs. I just think it's a little more than I would've given out for a guy that is slightly overrated. As mentioned, he's only very good to great when the conditions are "perfect" meaning that the left tackle and/or CMC are available, or the weather is clear and ideal. Brock should've gotten something of course, but I think north of $50 Million a year on average is too much; they could have waited a year. Sure there are aging vets, but when you're paying your QB, it's not going to be easy to acquire free agents in the future. However, if Brock Purdy can roll, especially with Trent and CMC or any great stars, then San Francisco has nothing to worry about. With that contract, BTW, that will end any chance of Aaron Rodgers going there Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/599/#findComment-8665842
Carey May 21 Share May 21 Personally, the league can go to hell if they outright alter the playoff structure. That would be the value of winning one's division, to be specific. Plus only one player from each team is allowed to join a particular country's roster, so it won't quite be a free for all. There was zero chance Purdy was going to play out the final year of his rookie deal. I actually am also a bit of a Purdy skeptic, but as QBs continue to be signed over the next couple of years this deal is going to fall even farther than it currently ranks among active QBs. It's still a good deal for the 49ers. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/599/#findComment-8667486
