I don’t get this for the Rams.  Why would they let the younger guy go to sign the old man?

Expand

Despite being younger and having Stafford throwing to him, Kupp hasn't had a 1000-yard receiving season since 2021 and has missed significant time the last few years. Meanwhile Adams consistently hits 1000+ yards even when his QBs aren't good.

The Rams' timeline is essentially two years before their Super Bowl window closes. Given production and health, it makes a lot of sense for the Rams to want Adams over Kupp for those two years and to get something for Kupp.

Justin Fields to the Jets. Pittsburgh better be stepping.

They are saying Aaron Rodgers and if that is true for the first time in my life I won't watch them.  Between his toxic personality and him not being close to the QB he used to be it will not be worth the aggravation of watching my team disintegrate.

Kenny Pickett to the Browns for a 5th round pick and Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

At least Kenny got to win a Superbowl with his childhood team.

I think you mean Super Bowl Kneel Down Champion Kenny Pickett.

Tanner McKee did look pretty good so hard to say no to basically a free 5th.

And Deebo and Laremy on the same team seems  like a leadership test for Jayden.

There may be some similarities between Kenny Pickett and Hoarce Grant.  For example, the latter used his rings as motivation to a franchise that hadn't won anything yet.  It didn't work out, but unlike Orlando, Cleveland has been around for some time.  So they're already motivated to win.

Imagine Kenny showing his teammates the jewelry to imply that if you double your efforts toward your goal, then this is the ultimate reward that awaits.

Alright, I'm totally joking with the above.  I could see it; I'd laugh, but I wouldn't bet on that scenario.  What's not a joke involves Pickett's old team.  There is a chance that they end up without either Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson.  I wouldn't call that great, but I'd bet on that happening

The scuttlebutt is that the Giants would trade to number one.

If they get either Ward or Sanders, that will be great.  I think they'll have a chance at one if Cleveland trades down, obtains picks, and has better options for 2026.  Since we're 1.5 months away from the NFL Draft, anything can happen.  The thing is Tennessee added pieces, including Dan Moore, to help them out.  I imagine they'll take a chance, and if it doesn't work, try again next year

Small hands or not, I'd rather have Kenny Pickens than DTR.  Kenny has had at least some winning experience.  I'd grade it a C.

CJ Gardner-Johnson goes to the Texans.  That's a good pick up for them.  But they need OL!  After trading of Tunsil, who's gonna protect CJ?  Their OL is atrocious.

Lots of defensive players moving around right now.  Bears & Patriots picked up a haul.  Maybe their new coaches know what they're doing.

Defensive head coach.  Still, it's surprising given how well the GM has done since he got there.  It is still early, but not ideal yet.  Sure improving on defense might help against the offense of Baltimore, KC, and even Buffalo.  However, you still have to get things done offensively.  That's the league now.

Pickett will be okay I believe.  He's getting Kevin as a HC.  That'll be the best coaching he's had ever TBH

I'm currently on NFL Summer Vacation at this moment. So it really annoy me that year after year for the past several yrs, we need to give an ounce of a damn about the Cowboys not signing anybody during the first few days of Free Agency. As if that is going to help them during the season. It also puts those 2 losers, Jerry & his stupid son Stephen in the spotlight, which is what we don't need. ESPN & FS1 can't seem to keep these idiots names out of their mouths for a damn week in the offseason.

My main concern with New York is what they have that's necessary to trade up to get someone.  Chances are they do, but I currently wonder if it will result in losing several (first round) draft picks in the next several NFL Drafts.

While it's not good news for the head coach & general manager, I'd wait until 2026 to get a QB.  Maybe you get Hunter if possible or someone else, but there isn't anybody that screams WOW for the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.

  • Honestly I don't see why Will Howard isn't valued any higher.  He's surely as good as Shadeur.  In fact I think he's better than last year's National Champion* JJ McCarthy, as they won mostly because of their run game and cheating.

I just had this conversation with a coworker yesterday.  Is Will Howard that good or was he good because he had a great team around him? I lean toward hoping the Steelers draft him and him being our QB of the future. Since apparently they are dead set on having a veteran older QB start this coming season.

The Steelers wanted to have Justin Fields, the guy they benched to start Wilson, be their QB for next season.

Football is a business, but all the same, Wilson's probably annoyed by that. Heck, Fields was annoyed enough that the Steelers benched him and then wouldn't commit to making him the starter next season if he came back that he decided to sign with the Jets instead.

What did the Steelers do with Russ that constitutes burning bridges?

The Steelers are not retaining / moving on from Russ.  They preferred Justin Fields.

Maybe it's not "burning bridges" so to speak, Salacious Kitty.  When stuff gets out, it's usually due to someone wanting that to happen at the very least.  Also, the OC (Arthur Smith) is no fan of Russ.

So now it's being reported that Rodgers is holding the Steelers hostage. It's said he might not make a decision for weeks between the Steelers, Giants, and retiring.

the only correct response to that is "we don't negotiate with terrorists" and move on.   Show Rodgers that no one is interested in his diva games anymore.

I'm all for players getting paid.   Because a team will cut them for any and no reason if the team thinks it makes so sense.   So if a player holds some cards, go for it.  But you gotta know the cards you hold.   Making a team wait weeks when they are finalizing their draft plans and starting to shape the team through FA only works if there is literally no other choice and you will instantaneously bring a super bowl to the team.   Rodgers isn't that player.   ONE super bowl in his entire career -- and I don't think its all the coach's fault.   He brings drama with him.   He throws teammates under the bus rather than take responsibility.   His downside just does not match the upside that waiting weeks for him is worth it.

(god what is it about former Packers QBs that make me write screeds about why they suck?)

I hope we do that but then we have to think about who exactly will be under center this season.  Not a lot of quality QBs left in FA. And I think a lot of teams are leery of trading with us since some of our recent trades have benefited us and screwed the other teams.

This is what bothers me more than his performance on the field.
