'I Actually Have Found The Dad-ness Of These Celebs Oddly Endearing'

Recommended Posts

THANK GOD someone else said they thought Anne Hathaway's routine was so try-hard. I thought it from the beginning and then I read the forums where everyone was all "It made me like her now!" I was all "Whaaaa? No." Shut up, Anne.

And why? Why are you Chrissy Teigen? Why?

I almost agree with your judging request. I think that, for now, these earlier matchups are good enough without the judging. Though it might be useful in picking winners between 2 good performers, like Hathaway vs. Blunt, it's a waste of time in blowouts, like Tyson vs. Crews.

I think the season should be split into 2 halves. The first half is the round robin matchups. Just names from a hat to battle each other. No judging. Let the celebs get comfortable lip syncing in front of an audience.

The second half is the tournament. After seeing the performances, then the performers get seeded into a tournament-style matchup with judging. Winners advance while losers are eliminated. The episodes would get more watchable in later rounds, with the championship to be mind blowing.

As for Crissy, get rid of her. She brings nothing to the show. No musical talent, no acting talent.

I like this. I also agree that there needs to be stakes for those who aren't as... competitively-minded. Hollywood Game Night has not only the civilian player but the celebrities are playing for a charity they support. If they faff off, they look like asses twice over.

Maybe  Lip Sync Battle could have a fixed amount go to either a celeb's charity or to a performing arts charity, like a camp or music in schools? Then, if they do go to a tournament, the charity amount increases incrementally. It doesn't have to be tons of money if the budget on LSB is tight.

This is just a silly summer show that came early to fill a scheduling hole. The producers know what they're dealing with; when Hoda started stinking up the joint in the first round, the cameras were pulled back. That didn't happen for her opponent because they thought he was hiding his mouth with his hand well enough. But, really, when Beyonce can't lip sync to her own song on a video when engineers can try to fix things, what can you expect of anyone that can be recruited for a show like this.

I think Chrissy is only there to act as an excuse for LL to break off talking with a guest, although I've noticed she does a pretty good job of lip-syncing herself. They should give her the belt when neither celebrity has done as well.

Only in America would someone trying hard be used as a reason something they did should be seen as negative...(And I'm very neutral on Anne but when she gets shade like this, I find myself wanting to defend her.)

I like Chrissy in general but this show is about the singing.  The banter doesn't really work.

I do agree that this show might be better with better stakes.  Like money for charity.  Man, what  a cheap show to produce.

Oh...about Terry Crewes and Mike Tyson being together, I read that these groups were scheduled together.  So I don't know that he had much of a problem being up there with a rapist.

Take away the handheld microphones! Too easy to hide behind them and they're obviously not being used. A fun show, but I fast forward through everything but the actual performances. When the camera pulls so far back, it seems like a show more about dance routines than lip syncing, but oh well.

It's funny... When I watched that episode, I got conflicting feelings from watching her. On the one hand, she's a great sport and that was fun, and on the other hand she seems to crave the attention way more than other people do. I really like her; I do. I wish she didn't appear to be so deeply affected by the reactions to her performances.

I recently watched a couple skits that Tom Hanks did on Saturday Night Live. He was so awesome, and so completely committed to the bits, and yet I never got the feeling that he was trying hard to please me.  I mean, I'm sure he was trying really hard because you can't be that awesome without trying really hard, but I never got the sense that he was.

Some people can put 100% effort into entertaining me and I don't feel like they expected anything from me.

For whatever reason, at the end of Mr. Short Term Memory, I wanted to thank Tom Hanks. At the end of the really terrific Wrecking Ball, I felt like I needed to thank Anne Hathaway.

Man, what  a cheap show to produce.

Music rights can be very expensive. The producers had to weigh the entertainment value of Dwayne doing Shake It Off against its price tag and the corners they'd have to cut elsewhere.

The commercial breaks feel crazy long. In Big Bang Theory's forum, some folks are complaining that the episodes are down to 18 minutes once you FF through the commercials. I suspect (although haven't timed it) that Lip Sync Battle would be similar. I also don't need the Lala Anthony whatever shot of the day little blip and the other one from that other guy that happens before they do their full scale battle. So now also I just DVR it so I can skip the junk.

To a smaller degree, they also go thru the expense of changing the intro each week.

Best money they ever spent!

In addition to Tom Holland's mashup (Singing in the Rain/Umbrella), which I still have on my DVR, the on!y other episode I cannot delete is Dwayne vs Jimmy Fallon. Watching Dwayne during both segments, but especially the first one was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen, hands down.

I'm waiting for photos of him to surface from a Taylor show, with his oldest daughter in tow, because I have no doubt in my mind that he's a legit fan.

You know who I'm not a fan of? Dumbass Chrissy Teigen. Why role does she serve other than to stand around, lip sync herself and hoist a belt up at the end of each episode. What did we all do wrong to have her thrown at us each week? Someone please make it stop.
