S02.E05: Hashtag FOMO

Recommended Posts

Oh man, y'all. Commenter bigshu over at the AV Club remembered that in the season premiere, there was that seemingly crazy lady calling out to "Val" in the subway. Mind. Blown.

Also, the entire Val sequence was inspired.  Funny idea, and a truly knockout performance by Abbi Jacobsen.  As I was watching it, I was thinking this had to be the biggest win Abbi's ever gotten on this show... which of course meant she would be crushed in short order the next day, and she was.

Nicole actually pulling out a clump of hair was great too.  I get that Ilana is the absolute worst to the Deals Deals Deals folk, but it's so funny to me.

The exercise ball covered in vomit bouncing down the stairs was THE WORST. Bleeeech!

Ha, I loved that Ilana and Abbi's coworker were both the exact opposite of impressed with Abbi's new nose ring.

Looooooved Lincoln at the party. I just love that he is so game for anything but in a low key kind of way.

Abbi as Val was so awesome. Honestly, after last week's hilarious episode, I was sure that this episode would be a disappointment (and I'm not going to lie - it wasn't as outrageously funny as the dildo/handbag/funeral situation) but seeing Abbi as Val was totally amazing.

This episode was magical.  I'm for sure going to be doing #fomo all the time now when I can't attend something.

I loved them bitching about the musical Rent "I know it sucks but you have to pay your rent, why did they think they just didn't have to pay their rent?!"

I loved Lincoln's "black Irish good-bye" after he tells Trey that the tape worm is crowning.

I loved loved loved Val and the whole exchange "How long has she been doing this?" "About 100 years?" "WHAT?!" "No, just kidding, about 3 years."

I'm sure we've all had blackouts, which makes this so funny. From what I know, I only have an inclination to take my clothes off. Val was way better. What made the whole scene work was Ilana's total incredulity to the whole scene.

Lincoln seems like an awesome friend. Maybe not somebody who you're hanging out with a lot, but on a Friday or Saturday, if you text him: Hey, anything going on? I'm looking to get out for a few hours. He'll hook you up and you'll have a good time.

Plus, he played the phone call so straight: Is it still in her butt? Yes, it's in her *anus.* Oh, you know he's legit now.

You're my best Jewie east of Saint Louis. *Blows smoke rings*

That was the best 15 seconds of television all year.

I love those kind of nuances about this show. Like Abbi getting the guy on stilts at the rooftop party to kiss her and then he falls down. Or the way each party got progressively better, culminating with Val Bar.

And Abbi and Ilana have the best relationship on so many levels - Ilana looking out for Abbi who's near the fire dancer at the rooftop party: "Hey hey hey hey hey. Too close" as she pulls her away. And Ilana letting Abbi grab her by the top of her dress and lead along the sidewalk; total trust.

Another great episode all the way around.

This show is so brilliant! So much so that I watched it live instead of waiting. I never do that because I hate commercials. But this show...is worth it!

What does FOMO stand for? << ( I know! I am stupid.)

Everything was perfect. Abbi and Ilana are my heros. They started at lame party and things just kept getting better. I am going to have to watch this again to catch all the subtle nuances I missed upon first view. SO worth it!

Fear Of Missing Out.

Thank you EdnasEdibles! I couldn't figure it out.

I am so in love with this show - I cannot wait for Wednesday night. I am having a lot of fun checking out the YouTube Broad City episodes. And my love affair with Ilana's curly hair continues.

Love how Ilana and Lincoln agree to disagree about cornochons. They are BOTH right!

Val - just … wow. LOVE.

Wait! What? There are Youtube Broad City eps? Say what?

Hilarious episode. I'm not sure how I feel about the Val stuff -- it might be veering a little too far into the absurd/bizarre for me -- but it still made me laugh. Especially since in season 1, Abbi (at some point) said "I think that if I had lessons, I could be like a really good singer. Please don't repeat that to anyone."

Better yet: the old lady who asks Ilana "What's a FOMO?" was Garol from the season 1 Brother Island episode.

I really hope Val comes back again, shes amazing.

I totally related to the constant party hopping in this episode. I have had several friends who will drag everyone all over the place, constantly hunting social media and texting friends, looking for the best parties. Led to some REALLY interesting places...but sadly not as intersting as theirs.

That`s what I love so much about this show, its just a bit of an exaggeration of things lots of people do in their 20`s. Not big life changing things, just finding humor in random stuff that you might doing doing the week.
