luvthepros June 10, 2022 Share June 10, 2022 Leah Remini???? What the hell does she know about dance? I saw her compete on DWTS and she was not good. This is a joke. TPTB are making a mockery of this show. I'm mad as hell. 2 2 Link to comment

I don’t think I can do JoJo - tries way too hard and is too much. Picking a non-dancer in Remini put the nail in the coffin this season for me. 4 Link to comment

crowceilidh June 11, 2022 Share June 11, 2022 So long as she avoids developing schtick(please listen JoJo), Remini is capable of being a talking head that I will listen to. It's highly disappointing that they couldn't find someone more dance educated though. 1 3 Link to comment
sharifa70 June 12, 2022 Share June 12, 2022 (edited) So, there wasn’t a single person with actual dancing credentials who was available to judge? Not one? Not even another former SYTYCD contestant? I would have loved to see one of the ballroom specialists come back as a judge. I’m not a dancer and would appreciate judges with actual dance vocabulary, like tWitch pointing out how grounded the tall contemporary dancer was able to get, or JoJo talking about specific technical details. I don’t want a judge whose expertise is “yeah, you were on the beat and you looked good.” I can do that much. Edited June 12, 2022 by sharifa70 Typos 2 6 Link to comment
Haleth June 12, 2022 Share June 12, 2022 On another forum I defended this show when a poster was disparaging competitive reality shows. I insisted that this one was serious about presenting the best dancers and awarding the best talent. I said there was no silly stuff. Picking a replacement judge who knows nothing about the technical aspects of dance just destroyed my argument. 1 2 Link to comment
mojoween June 13, 2022 Share June 13, 2022 (edited) You could have given me 7,432,761 guesses and I would never have landed on Leah Remini. I just … I don’t get it. Edited June 13, 2022 by mojoween 5 Link to comment

For entertainment value? She has always had a good quip at the ready. But it’s probably going to be as much of a train wreck as it was when Ellen Degeneres was a judge on American Idol back in the day. 4 Link to comment

You have way more confidence in her than I do, I don’t even expect her to know if someone is on the beat. I do not miss Mary or Nigel so I’m cool with them moving on, but I cannot believe they couldn’t get a choreographer/former contestant/dwts pro, hell I’d take a dance teacher from a local studio. Why not return to S1-S4 format when they had a rotating third judge? There has to be tons of people begging to a chance and some exposure and we get Leah Remini. I’m just so confused. 2 4 Link to comment

Yes, a rotating judge would have been a good idea if they couldn't get somebody to commit long term on short notice. 1 1 Link to comment

From what I can tell from her Wikipedia page, her only dance….let’s call it “experience”…was as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars (she placed 5th). That’s it. I mean, I took ballet in 2nd grade and danced in a Bollywood troupe for three years (with far more enthusiasm than talent), so I guess I’m qualified! Sign me up! 1 1 Link to comment
hiisa June 15, 2022 Share June 15, 2022 I was watching People Puzzler--I love Leah as the host there and think she does a fabulous job--and one of the contestants started doing a few silly dances and Leah started dancing with him (she covers her nose whenever she laughs. It's a weird little quirk.) and all I could think is this lady who isn't even doing a great job at this "picking up the change" dance is going to be judging dancers. Like real dancers who have been training for years, waiting and training their whole lives for this moment. That seems wrong. 1 4 Link to comment

Agree.....these dancers have poured their hearts, soul and lots of money into their dance training. They are going to be judged by a non dancer? What in the hell are TPTB thinking???? 2 5 Link to comment
