We start 810 today!!! There was some really fun stuff in 809. Only so many more eps to go! #Castle #EriksTeases

I know what I'd like to do with #EriksTeases meh and what is it with the word "fun", can the crew please think of expanding their vocabulary lol.

I can think of a few acronyms for 'fun'

Do you have any new Castle scoop? –Alie
During our November Sweep preview chat, I was sure to ask the co-showrunners what exactly Kristopher Polaha will be up to on the series, besides being tall. “He’s playing a public defender who comes in [during the fall finale ‘Mr. & Mrs. Castle’] and presents with some unexpected complexity,” said Alexi Hawley. “He’s a little bit more than what he seems. “The design of his character,” Terence Paul Winter added, “is that he’s immediately at odds with the folks at the 12th, while representing a murderer. He’s trying to do his job while the 12th is trying to do theirs.”

Do you have any scoop on where Castle‘s Beckett will be when Stana Katic was in Milan? –Laura
For the next new episode, “Cool Boys” (airing Nov. 9), Beckett is “out of town at a meeting for a couple of days, at a work-related function,” Alexi Hawley told me. The EP then made clear that she is off doing “real work, not secret work” related to the LokSat mystery.

They're missing a trick here, what they should have done is have Beckett go off saying she's on a conference but have a scene or two showing that she's busy investigating the Locksat business. What's making this whole separation arc look even worse for Beckett is that she's not looking that obsessed in terms of doing much frantic investigating, it's all been very lackadaisical and that gives the audience the unfortunate impression she's happy to keep Castle hanging on whilst she takes her sweet time over it.

They're going about this in completely the wrong way if their intention was to get me to sympathise with Beckett, it seems the way they're going to play this out they'll be no repercussions due to her actions, she's going to walk back into the loft at some point after all this is over with into Castle's arms and all will be forgiven.

...in which "F... U..." figures prominently, no doubt.

FUN:  "F'ed Up Nonsense". Not my invention.  If whoever thought of it is here, feel free to take credit.

If you replace every instance of FUN with the expanded version above, all of HawlWinney's press releases and question answers make sense.

For instance, "There was some really fun stuff in 809"

Change that to, "There was some really f'ed up nonsensical stuff in 809...

...and it reads just as it seems to us.

Wow, its really important for her to solve this mystery case quickly?! Could have thought of better explanations for her time away - like looking into big bad?? Sigh

I thought it was odd that they felt a need to specifically add that, unprompted. Especially since, as verdana said, it makes things seem worse (not that they've proven to be very good in judging what makes sense or appears appropriate in relation to this storyline).

Stana Katic Retweeted Kristoffer Polaha

Woot woo! Thank you, Big K! Throwing down great scenes in #Castle & supporting #ATP while ur at it. #VoteATP  Stana Katic added,

Stana's obviously started shooting scenes with Beckett's "foil" or whatever he's considered to be now heh.

I saw this exchange on the comments section when someone took issue with the distinct lack of urgency in Kate's investigation of Locksat:

BoboTheRaven says:

Beckett sure doesn’t seem to have much urgency in her investigation of LokSat. She did run a test on some 2-year old drusg last months… I guess the DEA never got round to that before. Only Beckett is original enough to think of that.

Matt Webb Mitovich says:

October 29, 2015 at 4:24 PM

Hayley is in the next three, Vikram in Nov. 16 and 23…. LokSat was missing from, what, one episode…?

annek says:

Discussed for 2.3 seconds

I agree with annek, it's no good the fleeting moments I've got so far which don't convey sufficiently at least to me that (a) she's getting anywhere on this and (b) there's any sense of heightened urgency and that's what I need to see. The fact she'd rather go on a course than pursue this important investigation further says it all, given she can seemingly do whatever she likes without 1PP caring.

As for Hayley I'd rather see her the next three episodes working with Castle not Beckett, Hayley turning up at the precinct and inserting herself into the case felt forced and undermined Beckett's role as captain with the easy way she accepted Hayley's help and acted like she was part of her team and yet at the end has to ask her what it was she did exactly. I would have thought Beckett might like to know the bonafides of the person she was dealing with before not after the event.

Nothing I've seen from tweets/pictures and just general info that's around, would suggest that Castle and Beckett are any closer to being back together in 8x09 and 8x10.

Also find it funny how TVLine (and co) have said that they have to talk to SK because this whole season storyline is built around her character's decisions. Don't you find it funny how she has been completely quiet STILL? Half the season has been filmed almost.

I find it interesting that in the comments section of the NF interview (?) Matt said that he would interview SK soon but my question is why haven’t they already (before NF’s interview was published) plus that was over 2 weeks ago now. While they could be waiting for a new episode (with Stana in it to air) it seems to me at this point she isn’t doing interviews. The only interview she has done was the Deadline PR one about her being a producer.

It's interesting, I do feel it's a deliberate thing too (her not talking about Castle at all).

I don't pay that much attention to Stana's tweeting although some of her fans read all sorts of things into them. However, since this season started I get the impression she's mentally moved on and her focus is looking towards the future and a life without Castle which is a sensible move at this point. She is busy promoting ATP, the shippery tweets have stopped completely (probably a good thing in the circumstances lol) and as has already been pointed out she's given only one interview back in the summer which for a character that's so important to the show seems very strange.

As for Matt and his sudden protectiveness towards the current storyline, I'm reminded of that saying 'don't bite the hand that feeds you', he may give the writers a nip occasionally but they must be feeling seriously under seige at this point and wanting some support. TVline is about one of the few sites left that regularly publicise Castle, that's the first place I'd go to catch up on general Castle news if I wasn't on tumblr or a forum.

I also wonder if her marriage earlier this year has anything to do with it? I know she's been with Kris for ages but making that kind of commitment can change things in significant ways.

I doubt they're back sleeping under the same roof but I'm guessing by this point Castle knows about what's she's up to but they'll find some contrived reason to keep her from moving back in of that I'm fairly certain.

Wonderful. Hate this character already. For so many reasons

I don't hate him yet, I need to watch him in action. I am concerned that if Katic and Polaha have good rapport and chemistry together that could cause yet more fan drama and I've had quite enough of that already plus he's yet another new character sucking screen time away from the established characters. Hope he's more interesting than Hayley, she's still not doing much for me.

Here's the current list of episodes to come:

Ep806: The Cool Boys - Hawley/P Holahan - 9 November (sweeps)

Ep807: The Last Seduction - Hanning/Terlesky - 16 November (sweeps)

Ep808: Mr and Mrs Castle - C Roum/Bleckner - 23 November (sweeps) FALL FINALE

Ep809: Tone Death - R Bella/H Culpepper - early February 2016

Ep810: TBA - TPW/B Roe - February 2016

If I remember correctly the new "foil" guy is a recurring character ,so I'm wondering if he is part of the "incredible dynamic shift" that the showrunners tell us is going to happen in the Fall finale  They also state that this episode will let the fans know the direction the show going to take.  So why are the showrunners  introducing a new character in what appears to be a very important episode?

He's meant to be linked to Castle's mythology so I figure both things are going to start coming together, the Locksat investigation and hints about Castle's disappearance will start to be teased out using this guy.  Unless that reveal is planned for later when they come back in February and his appearance in 8.08 is a simple introduction. I expect the "dynamic shift" to be Castle finding out what Kate's been doing probably by accident or circumstances force Beckett's hand. That would then tie in nicely with the tease from Hawley about "the promise of what it will be like when we come back." The fans will be made to believe Castle and Beckett are going to join forces after the hiatus to work on this together.  It's about bloody time they do, they should have been working on this together from the start. Sigh

Can you ask the Castle heads when will they deal with Castle’s disappearance again this season? They have teased they will. — Rida
And they meant it, too. “We can definitively say that that’s coming up in the middle part of the season,” showrunner Alexi Hawley says. “We’re definitely going to go there probably in the episode 14 area — 13, 14, 15 — something like that. We’re still nailing down the specifics, but we want to get into that. We want to, as we promised at the beginning of the season, tie that in to some of the stuff that we set up at the beginning of the season.” See, they haven’t forgotten.

So basically, they have no idea yet

Agree. His appearance has to be related to a crossover between Castle and Beckett cases. Otherwise, a public defender as a recurring character on a show like Castle is out of place. In most cases, a PD would only interact with detectives during the interrogation of a murder suspect at the precinct.  If he is recurring, maybe there is a court hearing or the investigation is ongoing and the murder is not resolved in 8x7.  If the separation is not resolved by Feb sweeps which includes them no longer living apart, it seems likely a big drop off from live viewing at that point if not already in motion after the fall hiatus. I just don't think Roum can deliver a compelling enough episode to halt the ongoing ratings drop especially after the Slaughter crapfest in "Cool Boys". For the new producers to exclude Beckett for the most part from a sweeps episode just seems really destructive to the ratings.  IMO. I believe the correct acronym for the big bad is Loksat.

Jesus could they sound any more indecisive?  What I read there is we have no idea where we're going with this story but we're going to do something with it.

It wouldn't surprise me if Hawley has taken a second closer look at the absolute dogs dinner Amann and Marlowe made of Sleeper and suddenly thought oh shit what the hell was I thinking telling fans we wanted to revisit this? Damn.

Marlowe must be chuckling away.

That does not bode well, it also blows my theory out the water that the Castle mythology would get touched upon in the fall finale, so early next year then but the new lawyer will get introduced soon and he's definitely got a link to this later story.

Same goes for 'still nailing down' storylines for shows they are about a week or so from taping. Yup, they've got this under control. Sigh

It's funny they're so open about it or do they not realise how bad it sounds?

I realise writers should be flexible in their storytelling but most showrunners have these kind of important story arcs pinned down well in advance and they know exactly where they're going with them but not these guys, it sounds like they're making up stuff as they go along and worse don't care enough to even pretend otherwise.

Good job Hawley got interested in writing and didn't get involved in any job where it's critical to be absolutely certain what you're doing every step of the way lol, he'd have a lot of worried employees and a PR nightmare on his hands.

Of course Hawley has already been promised another show by ABC when he's finished with Castle any way so he probably doesn't give a crap what happens.

femmefan1946. Thanks for the clip, we hear a lot mentioned about "fun" these days but that was fun.

It says a lot about the path that the show is following and in what direction things are headed when episodes can be filmed out of order and it makes no difference because the show is using a new bible envisioned by the new creative team.

verdana. Joy has really gone rogue on us over season 8. From her latest review:  "What I do know is this new direction of Castle hasn’t helped the ratings any.  It’s practically the anti-Castle.  The show will be on a three week hiatus – returning in early November.  For the first time ever I can honestly say I won’t miss it.  Hopefully something is being done to future episodes to get this show back on track".

Shows are routinely filmed out of order. It's quite common in the industry according to a friend of mine. For a variety of reasons.
