Trai Byers and Grace Gealey got married on Thursday.

http://www.tmz.com/2016/04/16/empire-wedding-trai-byers-grace-gealey/

The Lyon family is gonna need another seat at the table ... because "Empire" co-stars Trai Byers and Grace Gealey tied the knot in a very real wedding.

The private ceremony and reception went down Thursday at a mansion on Grand Cayman Island ... the guest list was limited to close friends and relatives ... none of their "Empire" co-stars attended.

Guests dined in style -- steak and lobster -- and danced to hip-hop, disco and, of course, reggae.

Considering TMZ got the photos they did, the limited guest list included someone who sold the pics or the employees did. Interesting they had nobody from Empire there when they only met because of the show.

I keep hearing that Kaitlin did go to the wedding, but you're right about what we saw as the guest list. She wasn't on it, unless there were two cards and we didn't see the other one. I'm not totally surprised about no one being there though, Trai is intensely private, so I can see him convincing Grace to not even invite Kaitlin.

I wish them well, they both seem like really nice people.

Quote

Prepare to see a lot more of Lucious’ rival Shyne Johnson on Empire this fall (and beyond): His portrayer, Xzibit, is now a full-fledged series regular, TVLine has learned exclusively.

The rapper-actor made his debut as Lucious’ drug-dealin’, music-makin’ adversary in the Fox smash’s Season 2 finale. His promotion takes affect in Season 3, which kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 21 (9/8c)

Isn't it enough that we have black woman hater Terrence Howard on the show, did we need to add another of his ilk? At least Terrence has actual acting ability.

Thank you! I rolled my eyes so hard when I saw his name that I have a headache. What will his role be? I don't think that he can sing... Wait, wasn't he in Rent with his ex-wife?

Ugh, this is why I am glad that I don't know too much about too many of these actors in real life. If I did, there probably be a show or movie that I could enjoy.

'Awards Chatter' Podcast — Taraji P. Henson ('Empire')

Quote

"Fear is not in my vocabulary," says Taraji P. Henson, the Golden Globe winner and two-time Emmy nominee for her performance as fierce and funny Cookie Lyon on Fox's Empire, as we sit down to record an episode of the 'Awards Chatter' podcast. This isn't just bluster. Henson's journey to stardom has been anything but easy — from humble beginnings in Washington, D.C., to becoming a single mother while attending college, to moving out to Los Angeles and struggling for years to find work, to getting an Oscar nomination and still not hearing the phone ring — she's certainly faced her share of adversity. But, she says with her trademark laugh, "I don't scare easy."

The year 2016 is shaping up to be The Year of Taraji. On Sept. 18, the gorgeous 45-year-old will attend the Emmys as a finalist in the best actress in a drama series category for her role on season two of Empire. Season three of the series, which heretofore has generated higher ratings than almost any other show on TV, will premiere Sept. 21. On Oct. 11, her memoir Around the Way Girl, which is said to be very dishy, will hit bookshelves. And on Christmas Day, Fox will release Hidden Figures, an "amazing" film in which Henson stars with Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae, which insiders expect to go all the way to the Oscars next February.

I thought the same thing - I'm not excited about Taye Diggs' character at all.  I hope his character meets the same fate as Alex Rodriguez's character - death.  I loved Alex too.  Taye can kick rocks.

Trai Byers Is Ready For the 'Empire' Spotlight: 'I've Been Passed the Ball'

Quote

According to reports, Byers wasn't happy with the direction his character Andre Lyon has gone in, and felt that he could be doing more. The actor has already opened up about those rumors, pondering aloud to Entertainment Weekly, "How do we get to the truth but still keep it interesting and still fit into the world of Empire?," further admitting that he thought "that’s where the frustration lies."

But I didn't get that vibe from Byers at all during our recent conversation about season three of Empire, one that's reportedly set to be focusing more on Andre's story, going from the businessman in a family full of artists to losing his unborn baby and finding religion. While Emmy nominated stars like Taraji P. Henson could have you thinking the show is about individuals, Byers likes to point out that the show, at it's heart, is an ensemble piece, and is quick to remind me that the show is more about the family as a whole. The happily married (to Empire co-star Grace Gealey) 33-year-old Kansas City native spoke further on where the show is going, the hardest scenes he's had to film, and mixing his real-life Christian beliefs with his work.

Quote

Long will play Giuliana (Giusi), a queenpin who runs a club in Las Vegas and makes brash moves in the gangster underworld of New York to secure a deal with Empire. Sleek, sexy, and cold-blooded, she rubs elbows with Lucious (Terrence Howard) and goes toe-to-toe with Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) even as she reckons with her own mysterious past.

“Empire” actress Bre-Z talks working at Atlanta barber shop, portraying Freda Gatz and more

You may know Bre-Z as Freda Gatz, the rapper with the good heart and troubled life on FOX’s musical soap opera “Empire.”

Gatz’s familial ties are at the center of her dramatic story line on “Empire” and, in real life Bre-Z’s family is an important part of her life, too. On Thanksgiving, she’ll be in Atlanta celebrating the holiday with them.

Bre-Z moved to Atlanta after her mom relocated for work in 2007. And, much like Gatz, she spent her time writing rhymes in the studio and cutting hair in a barbershop.

The actress worked at at Pro Cuts Atl on MLK Drive, recording in a nearby studio in between cutting the hair of clients such as Ludacris, Akon and DJ Drama.

“It ultimately helped me build a lot of the great relationships that I still have today,” she said.

The rapper eventually moved to Los Angeles and, with no prior acting experience, landed the role of Freda Gatz on Fox’s hit drama “Empire.”

We spoke with the actress recently about her time in Atlanta and her role on “Empire.” Here’s what she had to say.
