Crap, another CW show that I like that is pulling in terrible ratings. 

Frequency was good.  If you liked the movie, I'd say there's a really good chance  you'd like the tv show.  The premise is both familiar and changed.  And I had to laugh, it does a better job at showing someone deal with two sets of concurrent memories and the consequences of changing the past than The Flash did.

Superficially I have to say that Zack is all sorts of hot. 

Other than I wanna add that the screenplay was written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, who usually work together on various sci fi projects, they came up with some of the best episodes of Andromeda, along with Robert Hewitt Wolfe (who we were discussing earlier), worked on Fringe and Terminator together.   Zack also did a few episodes of The Flash and as of season three is a consulting producer.   So while I was originally very skeptical of the Power Rangers reboot I think I'll definitely be going to see it now that I know it was written by them and I'm a huge fan of most of their work.

I liked the little color coding they did with the characters, like Kimberly with the pink scissors. 

I was expecting it to be campy and a lot of bright synchronizing color flashes. 

I thought it was a nice choice to focus on the set up of the characters instead of the suits and villains.

I was going through my bookshelves the other day and ended up reading two of the Animorph books and thought, damn, it's 2016, with the sfx at our disposal why in the hell isn't someone working on a movie universe for this!?  Morphing would be easy now.   As would Andalites and the Hork Bajir.  A studio needs to hop on this, asap.

I loved Animorphs and it makes me sad that it isn't more popular. The evolution of the characters was fantastic and there is so much diversity, much more than you find now in YA.

Duuuuddeee.  Don't put that out into the universe.   Rachel and Tobias 4evahhh.  And I really loved that Rachel and Marco were the pragmatic and bickering ones that had that chemistry that was not romantic or antagonistic, but just two sides of the same coin.

I pretty much loved any scene with Tobias Rachel and Marco. Great dynamics. I enjoyed Jake too. Cassie got pretty hit or miss for me towards the end.

Sorry, shouldn't have put that out there :/  Rachel/Tobias and Jake/Cassie were the first couples I ever shipped. I was rereading a few of the books a few months ago and I kept imagining Grant Agustin as Jake, Candace Patton as Cassie, Caity Lotz as Rachel and Carlos Valdes as Marco. I know they're all way too old to play the characters but I must have been in an Arrowverse mood.

Because that's what I've been doing ever since I've seen Daredevil s2, with Frank and Karen (aka "Kastle"). And now Deborah Ann Woll joins The Punisher properly and I don't know what I should be feeling because hell, we all know about comic book shows and their stubborn love for "canon" pairings. And even on top of all that, it is so, so unlikely to ever happen. So a part of me wants to scream with joy, while another one says "Gurrl, stop it, it's not going to happen, ever".

CP as Cassie, yup. I've had the same thought about CV as Marco. I can't do GG as Jake. Jake is supposed to be this physically imposing guy with natural leadership and I can't see that with Grant so I think I would do SA. I would probably put Grant as more a Tobais. Rachel is a hard one.

Is it healthy for a 27 year old to still crush on a fictional 14 year old?  Cause I still crush on Tobias, he is awesome and beautiful and needs to be protected. 

While they are too old, that's some good future fancasting right there, I could see that. 

And in other regards, hm yes, I have ships that never set sail.  but I can't think of them at the moment, which is bothersome.

I ship them too and honestly I don't think it's so hopeless now that she joined the spinoff. But even if it doesn't become romantic, I love their dynamic so much and I'm just happy to get more scenes with them tbh.I really never expected her to actually be on his show, at most I expected a cameo.

Yeah, me too. I just don't want to hope too much, I guess. I've been burned a lot before, both with canon and noncanon ships. I think only one of my favorite pairings got an unambiguous happily ever after (as much as the show allowed), so I expect pain automatically when I ship something, lol.

I've been lucky that besides Harry Potter, Olicity and Fitzsimmons I haven't shipped much.  Managed to watch Buffy etc without shipping so that was nice and peaceful.

You gotta ship who you ship. It's always about hope even when it seems hopeless. That's what shipping is there for.

The only long fic I was following died a few months ago :( I'm that rare fan that is 100% for 'original flavor' stuff - no AUs, no OOC, centered on plot... Hard to find FF for my favorite pairings (and there are like 2 right now, 1 on TV and 1 in video games).

This is sorta me. I have stuck with shows regardless of ship as long as I am invested enough in other things--BtVS, for example. NONE of my many ships worked out there, though I guess that's true of everyone.... But with shows where a ship is my primary interest, yeah, I just quit when it goes wrong.

I am now all in on Pitch. I love stories where they immerse you in a subculture--in this case, baseball--and Ginny is a beautiful blend of confidence and fear in her new life and I am rooting for her.  Also, I sort of am shipping Ginny and Mike, despite the age difference and the fact that Mike is played by an unrecognizable Mark Paul Gosselaar.  Apparently all he needed to do was put on 25 pounds and grow a beard to turn hot.

Kara and Lee was a tough one.  The Doctor and Rose ended IMO probably as best as anyone could realistically hope for and more that I actually expected.  I never shipped Donna and the Doctor but it's about the saddest ending to a platonic ship I've ever had.

OMG!  This is me.  Why is he hot now?  I don't get it, but there it is.  At first I thought maybe I was mistakenly shipping them but then Ginny's agent made a point of them not letting her know about their night together as if she'd be jealous and so now I'm back to wondering if it is intentional.  Whatever it is, I like it.

It's weird that I like some Baseball movies like Rookie of the Year and League of Their Own when I younger and I didn't like Baseball then either. 

I also like that they are trying to make it like it's real by having commercials where it looks like Ginny is taking facebook questions.

I spent the second episode wondering how I could find MPG hot, and the third I just owned it.  I didn't do it during the first episode because I didn't realize it was him until after the episode, when I went to look up the actor. I think they are hinting at romance, although maybe I'm just looking at this through Arrow-colored glasses when I spent the first two seasons wondering "does anyone else see how he looks at her?"  Right now, I'm happy with them as just friends and am enjoying the stories.

I didn't think it was necessarily a fear about jealousy, but also about a conflict of interest? Or maybe the two combined. But the way he totally perked up when Amelia the agent mentioned that Ginny had his poster on her wall when she was younger.. they are intentionally playing up the connection between Ginny and Mike (the golf swing!!!). 

I'm all in on Pitch as well. I enjoyed the first ep and the way it established all these characters so well, and then the very end of the second ep where Mike looks at her when she's dancing... I went "Oh there it is" and now I'm also very much into Ginny and Mike's connection.

I watched the pilot with my sister and didn't tell her who played Mike. Legit shock when she realizes it was Zach Morris. He is the equivalent of BEN IS GLORY from HTGAWM.

I thought at the end of the first episode they were just going to play up the mentor role. She no longer has her dad for that kind of believe in you support system *unless you want to count her agent and I don't but yeah, I too saw him watching her as she danced and then decided to kind of moodily leave at the end of the second episode (actually the end is all I saw since I had a recording issue) and there was just this classic narrative set up in the images I was seeing that seemed to say, pay attention, there's going to be something between them.

Then in the most recent episode she's trying to get him to treat her as normal player rather than look after her like an older brother and I wondered if that was to make sure that it was shown that they had a relationship of equals (or will get there).  Maybe it will just be a close mentor mentee relationship but I can't help see the possibilities way down the line. 

I ship early with the idea that I don't want payoff any time soon so for now I'm just enjoying the budding dynamic.

I really liked the pilot for Pitch but sorry, Ginny/Mike creeps the hell out of me. I actually stopped watching because I'm sure that'll happen, and eww. 

Mentor/mentee romance with age difference is something that I can't help but find squicky, and I'm not easily squicked out.

I am the same.  Mentor/Mentee, teacher/student, boss/employee....all are pretty much a no-go with me to start with, and throwing in a significant age difference just makes it worse (for example, on NCIS, I absolutely refuse to ship Gibbs with any of his team, and would probably stop watching if they ever went that direction).  I haven't watched Pitch, but I remember I refused to watch Perception past the pilot episode because at that time I was convinced they were going to do a romance between Eric McCormack's character and Rachael Leigh Cook's character, and the fact that he used to be her teacher/advisor, coupled with the age difference and his mental illness, just made that for me an absolute non-starter.

If they hook up Ginny and Mike that would make me tune out of the show. Just because two actors have chemistry doesn't mean their characters should hook up. I really hope they keep it as a mentor/mentee relationship. 

While I don't think Ginny needs to keep up her not dating a baseball player rule, she should not date anyone on her team. They've been making a big deal how Ginny wants to be seen as equal and be seen for her talent. Putting her in a relationship with a team member would derail all of that.

To be honest, regarding shipping, I am someone who tends to have more NOTPs than OTPs.  Not because I'm anti-shipping, but I tend to be fairly flexible most of the time where shipping is concerned, except when it runs up against one of my squicks.  But once a pairing becomes a NOTP for me, that's pretty much set in stone, and I've dropped more than one show over a NOTP becoming canon, or even hints that a NOTP might become canon.  I'm not sure I've ever dropped a show over a favorite pairing not becoming canon though.  Unless you count refusing to watch the last season of Castle. :) Lol.

Yeah, I'm the same. I don't ship often, and lately, tend to prefer somewhat less popular ships (and usually on shows/works with smaller fandoms). But holy shit, NOTPs everywhere. I guess I'll just have to wait and see with Pitch, but fan response (at least on these boards) seem to be vocal enough about shipping these two, so I could imagine the show going there even if they didn't intend to originally.

As for other recent NOTPs, I remember Audrey and Nathan on Haven (I dropped the show eventually when it became all twu wuv), Kara and Jimmy on Supergirl (it's a bit easier as I can safely FF through their scenes since he's completely irrelevant to the plot - kinda like Iris on The Flash), Oliver and Laurel (duh!), Dexter/Debra (at least I dropped the show before that, but I did read about that and was completely disgusted), some pairings on Pretty Little Liars (especially Aria/Ezra and Alison/Emily). And, of course, the NOTP of all NOTPs - Spike/Buffy, always and forever.

I'm also very much squicked by Jon/Sansa on GoT, but thankfully, it doesn't seem to have any basis in canon, so far (not that their shippers agree... God are they vocal).

I don't ship often, or hard. Before Oliver & Felicity, I think my biggest ship was Mulder & Scully? I mean, I've liked other pairings (Olivia and Peter on Fringe, Buffy and Angel on BTVS, etc.) but the state of those relationships don't have as big an impact of my enjoyment of the show itself.

Dexter/Debra didn't really go anywhere since they made Dexter's soulmate Hannah another serial killer that he left his son with. Pretty Little Liars had way to many NOTP that I had stop watching it, that it's never ending storyline. During the Buffy craze I thought I was the only one that hated Spike/Buffy. Although I guess I can't be one to talk to since I was rooting for Giles/Anya. 

I think you just reminded me why I hate Barry so much, he reminds me of selfishness of Nathan from Haven. Of course Nathan was willing to destroy his whole town for Audrey so I guess he cared more about her than Barry does about Iris. 

I haven't hardcore shipped couples since Lost. That show turned me off getting too involved in ships. Now I'll just enjoy seeing characters I like interact whether it's romantic or not.

I don't know that I have a huge number of NOTPs - it's just that I have even fewer OTPs.  I tend to be fairly flexible about shipping, which served me well when watching shows like Buffy.  I did have pairings I preferred over others, but no die-hard OTPs or NOTPs, at least not canon ones - lol.  (Buffy/Giles was a huge NOTP.)

In the Flarrowverse, my only NOTP is Oliver/Laurel, I think.  And maybe Ray/Felicity.  On the other hand, I don't really have any OTPs in the Flarrowverse either.  Maybe Diggle/Lyla, but that's it.  

My other big NOTP at the moment is Nadalind in Grimm, and it's the reason I'm no longer watching that show.  Ugh.  

Pete/Myka on Warehouse 13 - I loved them as best friends/pseudo-siblings, but I refused to watch the last season when they put them together.  

Jack/Samantha on Without A Trace - I read some rumors they were going to put them back together and I noped out of that show pretty quickly.

There's been others, but...yeah.  A NOTP will cause me to break up with a show a whole lot quicker than an OTP that doesn't work out.

Thinking about it now, I am really bummed that Cordy and Angel kinda got started but it never went anywhere.   I think I liked the idea of them even more than Angel and Buffy.

I liked the idea of Cordy/Angel more than Buffy/Angel, but I didn't watch seasons 3 & 4 of Angel.  But I liked the idea of Angel being with someone who wouldn't hesitate to call him out and give him a reality check when he needed it.

I hated Cordy/Angel. I mean, I did ship Angel/Buffy, but even without that, I hated what the show did with Cordy in s3, with her saintification and losing what was so great about her. I even didn't mind her death as the character was ruined too much for me by that point.

I did love Cordy/Doyle, though. My favorite Cordelia ship by far.

Re: Giles/Anya, I actually could see it! Never thought about that when I watched the show,  but it would be fun and make sense, sorta. Anya was too cool for Xander anyway (never really cared about Xander after his s2 finale shitty behavior).

Another non-canon pairing in Buffyverse I always liked was Wesley/Faith. Of course, they are my favorite characters, so I'm biased. But still, would be really twisted and cool.
