It's weird for me to see these old VN vets. I look at them and think of WWII guys, but have to remind myself that most of them are dead, or very old, and probably not getting around and the grizzled vets I see now are from VN.  My late husband was in VN and would be 74 if he was still alive.  You don't think of yourself as getting older until you see someone one and think, "Wait, aren't they my age? When did they get so old?"

I was reminded the other day that 1995 was 30 years ago and I was a sophomore in college then and that just can't be right.

When I was in high school, I was on the marching band. We had a ceremony for WW2 vets who never had their high school graduations. The band played the naval hymn. One of the most meaningful things I have ever done. Still remember it like it was yesterday.

710 lb.  Wow.  She must be pretty tall to be still mobile at that weight.  And, of course, she is still very young which helps.  And she was morbidly obese since childhood, so her bones and joins and muscles adapted to it.  Though unfortunately her metabolism also adapted to it, so she is going to have a hell of a time trying to lose weight.

She eats once a day.  I guess that means continuous non-stop eating for 16-18 hours...

She says she's not snacking! This woman, who has to stop for a snack on her way home from a shopping trip, actually says she isn't snacking. I do not expect success.

She is all delusional.  Thinks she got this big because she stopped going to the gym.  Says she doesn't snack and has no enablers (so what does she think her aunt is, her guardian angel???)

The nurse mentioned the 62 year old lady  in room 302 when I was in the hospital last week.

I thought "Geez, they need to get it together...I'm in 302...oh."

A few years ago there was  big snowstorm. My husband was working in NYC for a few days and it was before houseguest arrived. I love to spend the day watching weather updates when there is severe weather, so I'm parked in front of my TV, watching all the weather news, and the talking heads keep saying "check on your elderly neighbors". Meanwhile, my neighbor on one side cleared our sidewalk, his partner came by with some cookies, and the neighbor on the other side cleared the top of our driveway with his snowblower. It hit me like a bolt from the blue the I am an elderly neighbor, and was being checked on! Holy shit.
