I guess Jubal won’t be in this episode since he’s been suspended - that will be kind of weird, I know Jubal is polarizing but I enjoy him and his interactions with everyone in the command room, he’s kind of the guy everything flows through, he interacts with everyone and all of the communication seems to go through him. I guess OA is the only one who will have been in every episode now, because I recall Maggie missing episodes in the past.
Anyway I look forward to the new episode.

That was a creepy and weird episode - I was certain creepy doc’s son was the killer the minute I saw him, it seemed so obvious I was wondering why the characters weren’t commenting on him as a suspect from the minute he flirted with Maggie. So it was a good twist that it wasn’t him. But I didn’t get why they had Maggie go undercover, couldn’t they just bring the doc in for questioning? - they had enough evidence connecting him to the victims to do so. So that whole thing seemed off to me and a waste of time while a kidnapping victim was out there. And the new agent, Scola’s partner, coming off as an expert profiler lecturing everyone else on what was fairly obvious didn’t work well, I can see why this new agent won’t be around for long. The killer was bonkers. And then the guy stalking Maggie at the start turned out to have nothing to do with the case. Weird. It felt like there wasn’t much to this episode so they added on some filler and it felt kind of disjointed. Not much of the command room, and I missed Jubal and his interactions with everyone there. Interesting that Kelly is knowledgeable about birds though.

As for Maggie’s personal subplot, I never understood why she was Ella’s guardian in the first place, Ella has other family who it seemed like would be more fit guardians than Maggie, I can see Maggie taking custody temporarily until things got figured out but not permanently, that just didn’t make sense to me, so I’m glad that subplot is likely over.

I guess new agent is some kind of wonderkind.  Next we'll find out she's the unit's sniper, and she is an expert in seven languages or something.  Having her command the whole profiling situation irritated me and took me out of the story entirely.  She is just so unsmiling and offputting. I can't put my finger on it because I have lots of police/detective shows with taciturn leads who I really like, women and men. But this particular character I just don't ever want to see at all. Perhaps it's because she hasn't really paid her dues to be taking the attitude and liberties she routinely does. She's new, but she bigsteps all the time.

It was an interesting episode but seemed kind of heavy handed in the way it dealt with the subject matter. Uber-paternalistic doctor and son, crazy receptionist, Maggie wobbling over caring for Ella, pitting women's roles against one another as some kind of zero sum game in a very simplistic way... The episode certainly had a viewpoint it was beating to death.

C'mon, FBI.  You're going to the address of a known slasher/mutilator that you suspect in three different murders, and you send only two agents?  I get that a chase scene is mandated and it's also a necessary exposition for Creepy McCreepface to recognize Maggie, but still.

You would think that the doctor or son would notice that one of the knives was missing.

Even though they didn't commit any crime (at least relevant to this case), both those "doctors" should be reported to the Board of Medicine for professional misconduct.  God they were creepy.  I can imagine how other patients felt.

Nice callback from Elise when she referred to the other guy's farm family background.  Remember the episode where he correctly deduced the make and model of a truck in question?

I don't think the old doctor was as creepy as his son (also a doctor), or as the missing womans husband made him out to be. I would imagine that he has to try really hard to talk young women out of a permanent procedure so not to get sued down the road when they change their minds.

The receptionist was a special kind of crazy and I was hoping for a second this was HBO so I could see her cut he head off with that retro scalpel.

Yes, an annoyingly bad performance from... wossname.

Dick Wolf. Simplistic. The End.

Killer: I'm going to kill myself with this stone knife!
Maggie: What, deny everyone of three years of back & forth in court, plus millions of dollars in costs? Wait! Nooo! Don't <yawn> do it!

Unfortunately not. But
Killer: I'm going to kill Maggie with this stone knife!
OA: I'll shoot the blade out of her hand. If I'm lucky. Then, three years of back & forth in court, plus millions of dollars in costs... <¡bang!> <splat (brain hits floor...)>

We need to eliminate all the guns. So the people with stone knives can take over.....

Yeah, I was yelling at the TV, "It's the son! Hello?" OK, I was wrong... I was right that they had the wrong suspect in the father though.

Dr. Marion Sr. still want kids at his age? For real? 😳

When Jubal isn’t around, we get to know Kelly a bit more. He loves mystery novels and he’s a birdman. Elise suggesting that they use the same bird watching app that Kelly loves, these techies know each other well. Elise can run JOC without Jubal yelling and hovering over her. 💪🏼

Hey Maggie, if Olivia Benson can raise her adoptive son as a single mother while having a high pressure job, why can’t you? Nobody says parenthood is easy. So, no more IVF for Agent Bell?

I think he said that would be the only reason to remarry, to have more kids, which is why he broke up with the phsyco receptionist.

Of course, it all went bad on their first date when Kelly accidentally referred to her as a "White Breasted Mattress Thrasher."  😝

I did not mind Jubal being absent as it gave Elise more time to shine. I do not see the need for both Jubal and Isobel.

Creepy episode. I was sure it was the Dr.'s son.

So the whole stalker subplot (which was terrifying) was just a means to write Ella off of the show?

I agree that it never made sense for Maggie to take guardianship/custody of Ella when she had relatives who were more suitable and were actually willing to step up. Maggie's life is unstable due to her job and it's dangerous. Not to say that FBI agents/law enforcement shouldn't ever have kids, but it should be a factor when deciding on legal custody/guardianship between 2 equally qualified households, especially as she is a single parent. If she had a spouse or partner who could provide stability when she's on a dangerous case that would be different.

However, despite all that, I hope Maggie and the uncle find a good way to transition Ella into the uncle's household fulltime otherwise I think Ella will just think that Maggie doesn't want her anymore which would be traumatizing IMO.

As to the case, not sure why it was this group of FBI agents tracking down the serial killer. Seems like this should have been a BAU case to begin with. They were able to connect all the victims, this should have been a Criminal Minds episode. LOL

I found this regarding Jubal's (Jeremy Sisto) absence:

"FBI season 7, episode 6, "Perfect," features Isobel (Alana de la Garza) leading the team instead of Jubal, leaving it unclear if or when Jeremy Sisto will return to the flagship procedural. For context, Jubal has been suspended from duty at the end of the previous episode. Jubal's punishment led to widespread speculation that Sisto was leaving FBI. "Perfect" does not directly continue this story, instead offering a quick explanation for his non-participation.

Jubal's situation means that Isobel has to be the one to lead the team during an intense case involving a serial killer who is abducting young women and causing them to bleed to death after removing their uteruses. The rest of the FBI season 7 cast races against time to find the latest victim while she is still alive and must turn to Isobel rather than Jubal for guidance as they pursue this investigation, but Isobel's explanation for Jubal's absence does not clarify his status with the New York Field Office."
