Too big, too technologically organized, too sterile? Not the typical TV lair of a hit man.(Then again, not a typical hit.) 2) Any indication of how much time passed between that meeting and the actual hit? Didn't the hit man/booker say that "they" would create stories of John's mental unraveling? The captions said six weeks earlier, for the hitman scenes with Sarah. Beth's community service was a condition of the plea bargain for her assaulting the woman in the bar fight. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150515-s05e09-desire-is-all-you-need/page/2/#findComment-8507546

Perfect time to send him off to boarding school. This will absolutely not happen in this show. Taylor’s other prequels showed the horrors that happened when Native Americans were forced to boarding schools. Monica and Rainwater won’t stand for it. In addition, James Dutton was told in 1883 that the ranch land would return to the Native Americans in 7 generations. That’s Tate. The land will return to him. That’s not to say he won’t go off on some adventure for the next couple episodes. The series ends this season anyway. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150515-s05e09-desire-is-all-you-need/page/2/#findComment-8507677

That's probably right. That feels like it was yeeeaaars ago and gone and forgotten, but in Yellowstone world it was only 6 episodes. I kind of thought the woman dropped the charges because it was explained the havoc it would cause in her own life, but who can remember that far back? And it seems like the guy supervising her work detail was also the one who was called to arrest Monica until Beth took care of that, so it makes sense he would back down on the work detail, which I thought was weird too. He already knows about Beth and what upsetting her looks like. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150515-s05e09-desire-is-all-you-need/page/2/#findComment-8507702

And the whole story about Beth's forced hysterectomy would never, ever have happened in real life. Major medical malpractice, the doctor would have lost his license and the clinic shut down. Beth has a personality disorder. It did happen in not so distant history. Jamie took Beth to a government run, reservation clinic where the lawful mandate at the time was abortion via hysterectomy. The doctors were following their mandate, even though Jamie asked them to make an exception. Check out the history on this, and watch Dark Winds. Forgot about Mom. Beth’s mother constantly criticized her for not being strong or capable enough, given where and how they lived. She was very cold toward her. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150515-s05e09-desire-is-all-you-need/page/2/#findComment-8508120
floridamom November 15 Share November 15 Six episodes in season 5B? Does anyone know for certain if there is a season 6 continuing? This show has so many prequels and spin offs reported that I am thoroughly confused. We watched 1883, one DVD, and watched 1923....ending with Spencer Dutton kicked off the ocean liner and his wife remained on it. She said she will meet him in Montana....when will this continuing series be available on DVD? Does anyone know which end is up with these shows? I thank you in advance for the real story here. I also heard that Yellowstone will continue on the Four 6s ranch as a sort of spinoff. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150515-s05e09-desire-is-all-you-need/page/2/#findComment-8508169
rr2911 November 15 Share November 15 There are fan theories out there that suggests John Dutton isn't dead. They are probably wrong but one theory is interesting. The theory is that John found out about the plot to kill him so he "intercepted" the hit. He plans to take down Sarah and Jamie. He arranged the body double and everything else. One fan noticed that the police were checking for powder burns on the body's "left hand". John Dutton is right handed. I'm guessing the face was severely injured. What do you all think? 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150515-s05e09-desire-is-all-you-need/page/2/#findComment-8508233

As much as I want John to be alive... I don't think so. I don't think John would have faked his death. The Duttons aren't above killing, but John's fixer was Rip and Rip was a thousand miles away in Texas. John would have had to obtain a body that looked enough like him in size, maybe from the morgue. Or had someone killed. Who would have helped him? Pretty much all of his ranchhands except the old guy were away. Kayce was in the dark as well. This storyline was the direct result of Kevin Costner's feud with Taylor Sheridan over creative issues. Costner publicly criticised Sheridan for not working on any scripts and being too concerned with all of his other projects (Sheridan sounds exactly like George RR Martin in that respect). Then Costner announced he wouldn't continue. I think this is Sheridan's way of giving Costner a big "F YOU" and killing the character so he can't come back. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150515-s05e09-desire-is-all-you-need/page/2/#findComment-8508339

Beth’s mother constantly criticized her for not being strong or capable enough, given where and how they lived. She was very cold toward her. Waaaay back, in a very early episode (disc 1, episode 1) , we saw mom, Beth, and KC(?) riding horses somewhere out back. The date was March 30, 1997, a sunny day. Beth was struggling with her horse, unable to keep it calm and docile. Mom was aggravated (which, as pointed out above, seemed to be the constant friction between Mom and Beth). In this case, Mom was annoyed with Beth's inability to keep the horse calm. Young KC decides to annoy Beth by bumping her horse, which gets cranky...and chaos ensues. Mom is knocked off her horse and hits her head. Ouch. Mom sends Beth to get help. Beth finds her Dad, but cannot quickly point to where her Mom is. It is dark when they finally find her. But too late. Clearly, Beth carries this episode for the rest of her life. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150515-s05e09-desire-is-all-you-need/page/2/#findComment-8508542
Daff November 16 Share November 16 Thanks for reminding me about her mom’s death. I also remember scenes in the house prior to the riding scene where her mother was highly critical of everything she did. It didn’t help that Beth was a stubborn brat (and still is), but even at that time, it was clear Mom favored the boys over Beth and that John was highly protective of her. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150515-s05e09-desire-is-all-you-need/page/2/#findComment-8509291
