So Liz Cheney is talking sincerely about how Rs don’t have the luxury of writing a name in, they must vote for Kamala, and Alyssa sits there nodding like a bobble head, yet she (Alyssa) still has not said she’ll vote for Kamala.

If Alyssa, like I suspect, is a registered voter in NY, she doesn't need to vote for Kamala.  NY is reliably blue. (latest NY polls is 58% Dem, 40% Repub)

Hi everyone,

I agreed with Sunny as far as of course you always feel some level of surprise despite it all, but you're not really surprised at the same time, particularly if you live in certain parts of the country versus others. Of course Alyssa was shaking her head as Sunny finished--no surprise why Sunny  doesn't like the woman.

As for Alyssa, I don't care who she claims to have voted for. The biggest determiner of this outcome goes back to Biden's age being talked about ad nauseum in the media a la e-mails coverage and she was one of the biggest proponents of that. People like her knew that it was unlikely a new candidate being switched in last minute could win, she doesn't fool me. The good thing is she won't be able to hide in the background anymore, people will become much more aware of the shilling when she's defending Trump every day for years straight.

Alyssa was shaking her head because Sunny incorrectly referred to non-college educated white women as "uneducated white women."  Sunny later had to make the correction.

As for Biden, he referred to himself as a bridge to the next generation.  He should have kept his promise and not run for a second term.  There were many viable Democrats who could have shown their chops during primary season and made themselves and their policies known to the voters.

I give Whoopi credit today.  Instead of sulking she is actually being a good moderator by trying to keep the mood light and upbeat while they discuss the tough questions about last night's loss.

Oh, Lord, what a joke to make her "correct" something like that. It couldn't be more clear that Brian and Alyssa tilt the show one way. I think he's worse than Geddie at this point, at least Geddie didn't pretend it was about "misinformation" when he sent Elisabeth out to read his talking points.

The co-hosts are much more hopeful than me. Alyssa saying she's heard that Trump's going to appoint decent, highly qualified people to join his administration...we are supposed to have confidence in that when he's already promised prominent positions to the likes of Elon Musk and RFK Jr.? Trump literally just said on Joe Rogan's podcast that the biggest mistake of his presidency wasn't January 6th, Covid response, etc...It was picking "bad, disloyal people" as White House officials. How that leads anyone to believe he's going surround himself with anything but yes men who do all his bidding no questions asked is beyond me.

I don't want to believe this is all doom and gloom either, but knowing the realities of what a Republican-controlled Congress is going to mean for advancing Trump's extremist agenda, it's hard to feel anything but terrified for the future of this country right now.

Sunny's comment that "uneducated white women" voted heavily in favor of Trump was telling. Per her correction - "non-college educated" white women must seem equivalent to "uneducated" to her.

As to why people might vote against their own interest, maybe I'm being idealistic, but sometimes people will try to view the big picture and see that some policies might be better for a larger group of people, so they vote for the person who provides that even if some other policies might not be to their personal advantage.

What a shock, Alyssa hasn’t learned a damn thing.

Alyssa is constantly accused of being some sort of conservative operative under the guise of a friendly View co-host.

One could argue Alyssa has been warning them for the past year Biden was too old.  She has been warning them the economy was a huge issue with Americans which Whoopi and Joy constantly dismissed as they spoke of other accomplishments in the Biden administration.  As Clinton famously said in 1992:  It's the economy, stupid.  She also brought up immigration which Sunny shot down as racism.  Not really Sunny, it's more about people rolling in unfettered, overwhelming our cities and the system, but you do you, as you always do.

It could be some of the myopic co-hosts haven't learned a damn thing.  Maybe that's why a few of them were sitting there looking alternately shell-shocked and pissed off this morning.

I don't think that's an accusation, it's a known fact that she's a conservative fill-in considering they only looked at conservatives for that seat and she worked in a Republican administration whereas nobody else they've had on has only worked in the administrations being discussed.

No, the "accusation" is that Alyssa is two-faced, someone who claims to be anti-Trump for the sake of popularity and pull--knowing nobody would rightly listen to her if she was open in her support--who then says everything she possibly can to help his position, from criticizing his opponents incessantly, attempting to censor her co-hosts, working overtime to control the direction of every discussion they have. Actions speak louder than words and she's already shown who she is many times over.

As for the rest, I don't think the co-hosts were that shocked or angry. That's just the usual narrative against more liberal media figures in news and entertainment who are hated, been there and heard those lines for a decade now.

Like I said above, I didn’t watch yesterday so my comments are more general. The rest of the panel may not like what Alyssa has to say but she does understand the views of R voters. Clearly she knows what she’s talking about given the election results. I agree that Whoopi, Joy, and Sunny are somewhat myopic. They don’t understand how anyone can think differently than they do. I like them but their perceived intellectual superiority can be arrogant at times. Instead of trying to understand Alyssa (who may not be stating her own views, just being the messenger) they argue with her and dismiss what she’s saying as nonsensical. They should have listened.

I could only watch for 5 minutes.  I shut it off when Sunny started talking.  All I could think of were those commercials of Sunny asking KH "Is there anything you would've done differently?"

I think that was the biggest thing that cost her the whole election, I cringed when she said it & every time it came on after that. People were hurting financially & the thing the majority wanted was something different, anything, not exactly the same. There were so many answers to that question from "I can't say as I'm still VP at the moment", to just about anything else besides the "nothing" that she actually said. How they didn't see that question coming & not have a stock, not too controversial answer at the ready was & is unbelievable. I actually said to Fiona more than once when the ad ran on the tv "that could cost her big" & I wish I had been wrong.

I'm glad Sunny treated Alyssa with the same disdain today that Alyssa had treated her with yesterday. Laughable she thinks Hillary and Kamala losing versus Biden winning against him has absolutely nothing at all to do with misogyny--what kind of fever dream she must be living in. What an awful, disgusting woman she is.

Whoopi's right that he's not going to jail now he will have power over the investigations into him. Well, at least not for the current crimes; I'm sure there will be others by the time 2028 comes around if the government isn't overthrown by then.

When Alyssa noted a border town in Texas comprised of Latinos voted 75% for Trump, Sunny accused them of misogyny.  Alyssa who, unlike Sunny, comes prepared with actual facts, explained they voted for Trump because of immigration.

I don't know if you noticed, but as Sunny kept impatiently interrupting Alyssa, she was becoming more emotional with each accusation.  For a former federal prosecutor to lead with emotion rather than facts shows you who has the weaker argument.  *HINT*  It wasn't Alyssa.

My goodness! Sunny might as well have put her fingers in her ears and said "Lalalalala" while Alyssa was outlining why many people voted for Trump. Then she indulges in "whataboutism" (which she disdains when other people do it) asking what the post-mortem for Republican Party would be. In my experience, post-mortems are done to identify what went wrong (or at least not to plan), not what went right (because you won). The RNC will probably go over the election strategies to review and improve, but it won't be the same kind of self-reflection that the DNC needs to do.

Then, Sunny decides that people who are busy working and commuting (as Stephen Smith described) should be listening to the news to gather lots of information while they are stuck in traffic. The implication is that these folks voted for Trump because they didn't know any better.

Oh Sunny, I'm thinking you're feeling a little bit guilty & responsible for asking her that question which helped Kamala to lose but don't feel too bad about it, someone was going to ask her it eventually. She also seems to have no idea what matters to normal people who don't have time to sit around informing themselves & expects them to care about the same things she does in her little perfect, rich bubble. She is 100% going through the stages of grief & is stuck at denial at the moment and could be there for a while.

I was surprised with Mr. Smith, he made a lot of sense & I usually can't stand him if he's talking about sports, he's way too shouty for me but he was very thoughtful & measured with what he was saying, even if Sunny didn't want to hear it.

Joy still insists on chipping in with her stupid comedic quips when others are talking or trying to ask/answer a question, just STFU & let someone else say something without interfering & sucking up all the oxygen in the room, even Whoopie looked at her once or twice with her STFU face.

Alyssa is back to being her usual Republican self, defending most of what they say or do & in my opinion it overshadows the important points of what she is saying a lot of the time, again Sunny needs to STFU and let her finish what she's saying, even if you don't like it, she does make sense sometimes.

As for Sarah & Whoopie, this is what I will say.

I'm impressed by the optimism of the people who think there will be an actual election in 2028. Kings don't need an election & that is exactly what he has become, he won't even need to change the constitution because he just ignores it anyway & for some reason his allies go along with anything he wants, even to their own detriment. Look at a picture of him at his speech after he was called as the winner, there are generations of Trumps lined up to take his place as soon as he steps aside & use his playbook to get there & stay there.

I hope I'm wrong & the optimists are right but don't count on it.

It really was a reasonable and inevitable question. The blame doesn't fall with the questioner, but with the answerer. If Harris had a good answer to this (very predictable) question, then it would have been fine. Instead, she bobbled the response, and well, there you go. Sunny's in denial and grief, and there may be things she could feel a bit guilty or responsible for in terms of convincing people to vote for Harris, but this question isn't one of them.

I agree & said almost the same in an earlier post about the response, but it's not going to stop her feeling that way at all & I do feel a little bad for her.

Stephen A.'s use of the analogy about others cutting in line.. in this case,  Hispanics who have lived in US v. those coming in now... has long been touted as the core resentment by whites, males, etc., against anyone ( not like them) who dared tried to get ahead in life, never mind that whites, males, earlier immigrants, etc., have had ample time and privileges to move ahead in line.

It boils down to entitled fearful belief that there is not enough to go around of $, jobs, food, etc., and that someone else is getting ahead or getting more,  even if the "other"  had to work twice as hard to deal with or overcome discriminatory policies,  racism,  sexism, violence,  etc..

It's widespread and will continue to fuel the divisiveness in our country forever, I'm sorry to say.

Trump is definitely both but the bigger problem is the extremes have moved even further.  What was once considered moderate is now further right.

True. And that's the purpose of a candidate like Trump being so extreme in his rhetoric; by being that way for such a long period at the level of national politics, you can hopefully pull the center further away.

I think Alyssa has given some credible reasons for the loss, but Sunny and the others have as well. I don't think it's an either/or, but both. The reason I don't think Sunny likes to listen to Alyssa is mainly how giddy and excited Alyssa seems about it all.

Loved when Joy explained to Alyssa yesterday that she and her family (like many) also grew up poor and not able to afford a car or house, but still didn't turn to hatred as their response. And I was glad Joy mentioned she wasn't a pundit like Alyssa, too, it just goes back to how neither Sara or Alyssa fit this show with one trying to turn it into The Talk and the other into some impersonal, opinionless news broadcast.

Except a lawyer should never ask a witness a question unless they know the answer.  She should have carried that principle over to her View gig.  Oh, well.

I'm in the middle of watching today's episode, so forgive me for just firing off random thoughts, but why on earth would anyone ever take Howard Stern's thoughts on sexism seriously?  We're talking about a man who has had porn stars and strippers regularly on his show, made all the misogynistic comments possible and has just been gross for basically all of his adult life.  Of course he thinks all men make horrible comments about women in private.  He's a creep who probably only hangs out with other creeps.  Why is Joy quoting him as if he's some great defender of women?

Also, I'm tired of everyone acting as if all Hispanic people in the US are immigrants or the children if immigrants.  Hispanic people have been in this country since the beginning.  There are tons of cities in California, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, etc that were founded by Hispanic people.  Saying that Hispanic people are upset because they feel people are "jumping the line" and that they're "shutting the door behind them" is ridiculous.

The problem is that Sunny is an overgrown toddler that seems unable to analyze outcomes that don't go her way.

Me thinks maybe what Sunny dislikes in Trump is what she herself possesses.

I think Americans have an innate sense fairness so when they see people arriving by the millions while others follow legal procedures and wait years to enter this country legally, there is a feeling of resentment.

Add to the fact they're being given asylum status, housing and monthly stipends all of which are overwhelming the system, then yes, Americans be they whatever race or ethnicity, have a right to feel resentment towards these newcomers.  If Canadians were flooding our borders Americans would feel the same way.

Stern has changed a lot from his early days. I don't know that much about him, but I think he has apologized for the way he used to talk about women.
