Yes.  It certainly said something that Gwen and Evan's fight was mirroring that of two teenage girls.  It also says something that the fight resolved because of an emergency, rather than the two adults resolving the underlying issues.

On the positive side, I liked Evan's jacket.

I wished we had seen more of Becca and Tiffany and other students. For me, a better version of this episode would be Evan and Gwen trying to work out their issues and having fights, but the fights or attempts to work things out keep getting interrupted by teen drama. For me, the show is at its best in episodes like "Powderpuff" or "Kayla's Syndrome" when the focus of the episode is Evan having to react to the teen drama around him instead of focusing on his own drama.

I think of this show as more about the teachers, both at school and in their personal lives.

The cast of teachers is pretty good, most of them are good comic actors.  Not sure the younger actors playing the kid are as good.

The kids also seem pretty cliche and 2-dimensional. It's something for the grown-ups to play off of, rather than the focus of the show. And that's how I prefer it. If this were a show about high school kids, it would be a very different show.

We seem to be at a table for 2 but I agree with you.

@iMonrey and @Harvey I understand that the adults are the focus of the show, but I think the series is at its best when the teachers are directly playing off/reacting to what the teenagers are doing. My problem with this episode is that the adults were playing off each other as opposed to playing off the teenagers.

I think it's nice that each of us enjoys something different about the show ❤️. Shows it has a lot to offer.

But in an ELEMENTARY school such as Abbott elementary- teachers DO have only one class and they’re with that class all day long (exceptions exist of course).

it’s irritating that this show seems to think Evan has one class of about 25 when IRL he’d have five classes and 74-100 kids. Desks in rows are not a thing anymore (small group all the rage(; we went back briefly for Covid but that’s it.

and what’s with all the TYPED PAPERS??? I mean come on even at the college level we use canvas and blackboard and kids submit in Google docs. my school has a push to have them do some handwriting once a quarter to get away from cheating but it bugs. Similarly blackboards instead of smart boards?

it’s as if the show were about newspapermen and they all had electric typewriters. It’s super lazy.

i wrote this in the wrong thread but did anyone notice how they just had the one bus? Isn’t it meant to be a large school? That wasn’t even the whole senior class.

i do enjoy the show but it has no relation to my job. Maybe that’s why I enjoy it.

i can’t even watch Abbott elementary until a longish break. Despite outlandish characters it’s still too close to home. You can see she knows that world well.
