How much more gloomy can this show get?  It’s the final season the only happy thing was Park and Reznilk.

Did anyone catch the baby Steve smile at the end when Sean said icecream?

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah, I totally get Glassman being determined to help this girl, and she absolutely needs help and support...but it's also clear his personal feelings are affecting his judgment and I'm thinking this could end rather badly for all involved somehow.

I'm with Park on his reaction to Morgan's public proposal. Public proposals in general are just...not a great idea, not unless one's absolutely certain their significant other would appreciate something like that and it can be tailored to and honor/celebrate the couple's relationship in a fun, creative way. But I do like Morgan propiosing in and of itself, and I'm not surprised she and Park will be getting married.

I liked the flashbacks to Shaun's childhood this episode, in the context of his observations about Steve. I agree that now's too early to get the kinds of answers Shaun wants, but I also get why he wants to know.

Can't believe we're down to two episodes remaining now.

They have handled the whole story with Hannah in the wrong way. I’m a chronic pain patient who has been on pain meds for years. If my pain were gone tomorrow I would still need to slowly transition off the medication or I would have terrible withdrawal symptoms. Dr. Lim acted from the beginning like this girl was just taking meds for fun, even when they proved she would have been in terrible pain before the surgery.

Glassman should know that pancakes and TV shows cannot help someone who has been physically dependent on pills for years. Of course he should not be prescribing her any meds and she needs rehab. In terms of the Shaun and Lea dispute I think I would wait a bit before giving my baby tests requiring sedation. It was cute when the baby smiled at Shaun.

What did I even just watch?

These episodes feel like they are part of a full 22 episode season, not the third to last episode of the show.

The best part of this episode was Charlie's clap after Shaun said "I used a metaphor." It made me laugh.

The rest of the episode was just...wtf was that

Yeah, this stuff with Glassman and Hannah is just odd.  Really feels like this was something planned for a season that would have been full lengthen, but then once they got the actual episode order, they are now rushing the whole thing.  None of this really feels earned and I already find it ridiculous that Glassman is going to risk his career like this.  To be fair, maybe this will all play into that mysterious phone conversation we overhead last week, but for now, it just feels like this is all an excuse for Richard Schiff to work alongside his daughter (which, hey, I get it!  Probably a nice bonding moment!)

I'm not sure how the show wanted to make me feel thanks to all of those scenes with Jordan being snippy with him, but I really can't find any fault with Park a) not just going along with a "We're getting married at the courthouse tomorrow even though I never even mentioned this before.  Be there 10:00 a.m, sharp!" plan out of the blue, b) a public proposal that seems obvious to anyone with a working brain that it was all calculated and for show, and c) getting another proposal with a ring that wasn't actually a family heirloom but something Reznick bought from a pawn shop.  After seasons of being much more likable and interesting, it's like Reznick regressed back to her earlier, more one-dimensional self these past two episodes.  I guess I'll just file all of this along side Park's stupid reasons for breaking up with her last season as stuff I'm just going to pretend didn't happen in order to keep enjoying this pair (which, I do: mainly thanks to Fiona Gubelmann and Will Yun Lee.)

Cases of the week were solid.  Nice to see that Shaun and Charlie can actually be a fun pair when they are no longer at each others throats.

Nice to be reminded how horrible Shaun's dad was.  A little surprised they were able to get Michael Trucco back for the one scene.  Noticed they recast his mom though, because she was played by Joanna Going back in that season three episode.

Shaun ends up deciding to not go through with trying to get a diagnosis for Baby Steve.  I wonder if they'll go back to this or will this be something left open-ended.  I can see it going either way.

I’m hoping that glassman is not sick but, if he knows he’s sick he might not care about his license and just wants to make up for the loss of his daughter.

I would not be shocked at all if we get a flashforward at the end, something like five years, showing everyone in a good spot. They'll probably also have Steve not be autistic.

I wish we had been able to get a full season with Charlie - I would've liked to have seen what they would've done with Kayla Cromer for a full season. Would she have had a better introduction and not moved things at lightspeed?

I bet the replacement show, Dr. Odyssey, is gonna be canned in the first season (A Ryan Murphy show starring Joshua Jackson). I'm definitely going to give that a shot to see if I have a new medical drama hatewatch (Along with that NBC one with Zachary Quinto... Wolf?)

I can appreciate that Glassman wants to help Hannah, and she very much needs support, its really sad that her chronic pain led to her being in such a bad spot, but he is so clearly putting all of his feelings about his deceased daughter onto her, I can see this going pretty poorly. I do wonder if Glassman has gotten bad health news again and is trying to do a re-do with his daughter now that he knows he doesn't have much time left, but I would have much preferred watching him bond with Shaun and baby Steve and deal with some of their stuff, especially so close to the shows end.

Morgan coming up with increasingly dramatic ways to ask park to marry him was sort of hilarious in a cringe way, but of course they worked things out in the end. I knew that they would get married, even if Morgan was being really extra and Park as dragging his feet.

Interesting seeing flashbacks to Shaun's childhood again, his dad really was a piece of work, and while his mom was certainly better she was also always apologizing and making excuses for his awful behavior and we know what an enabler she turned out to be. I could see both Shaun and Leah's perspectives on getting Steve tested, it really is too early to know anything about Steve being on the spectrum yet but I can see why Shaun wants to help him right away. Baby Steve's little smile at the end was so cute!

Both cases of the week were solid, it was one of those "everything ties in thematically" sort of episodes, this time about relationships and communication/compromising.

Charlie and Shaun are a fun pair when they aren't snapping at each other, Charlies little golf clap when Shaun used her car metaphor was really cute.

yesss I loved that clap

and it was such a perfect reaction. I don't know if a neurotypical would do that, but I know as an autistic person I would definitely do something like that

I totally forgot that Michael Trucco was Shaun's dad -- World's Worst Uncle (and Brother!) on Fire Country and pretty bad Dad here!

I finally watched the episode. I thought the whole testing, not testing Steve, and conflicts between Lea and Shaun was well done, for this show's standards. Still a little too easily resolved but I guess there is no time for a longer, more realistic debate. I also don't think the writers would be able to produce anything good from a more nuanced subject.

But it was good to see Shaun grow up a little.

Didn't care for the rest. Can't stand Park anymore, the doctor side, He is way too perfect and can do anything, anytime, anywhere, and the outcomes are always great.

and it isn't like they can have him screw up and redeem himself over the season

...although with how this season is written, they might have him screw up really badly in the next episode and redeem himself in the finale and act like it was an earned redemption.

tbh I really wonder what this would've been like as a full final season (although it might've not been cancelled without the strikes, and we might have gotten The Good Lawyer, too)
