AnimeMania May 6 Share May 6 You have just killed two bad guys chasing you and more are coming to your location. You have a choice of: A) Hiding in a building and waiting for the rest of the bad guys to show up. B) Taking the high powered weapons and the armor plated SUV and taking your chances on the road. 7 Link to comment

We all know what's gonna happen soon, Dante's brother is gonna be in trouble with something and McCall will have to save him. 4 1 Link to comment
stonehaven May 6 Share May 6 Aunt Vi's big plot of the night was peach cobbler???? I laughed way too hard when the dad said "You have a brother!". Seriously, this show is supposed to be about helping the little guy, not random family angst. Oh yeah, letting that kid go after he steals money from his own neighbors and then points a loaded gun while telling a sob story that no one can verify? How dumb do they want these people? Then, the promos show Fisk and I already will tune out. The cast is basically phoning it in at this point. They are a good talent pool with great chemistry saddled with bad writing and repetitive non-productive violence. It's not as cheesy as Walker Texas Ranger was in it's heyday but it's close.... Yep, I'm out...and this got renewed while So Help Me Todd got cancelled. Yep, I'm bitter. 4 1 Link to comment
dwmarch May 6 Share May 6 3 hours ago, stonehaven said: and this got renewed while So Help Me Todd got cancelled. For me, it's NCIS: Hawaii that is gone too soon. I'm in agreement that this show hasn't earned a renewal but I know Hollywood doesn't renew shows based on quality. Agreed also that it is weird to have an A, B and C plot with A and B being serious and C being silly. Wasn't it wonderfully convenient that Harry just finished exposing the store-bought cobbler just as M.E.L. was checking in to say Dante was in trouble? What would he have done if Dante needed help a little sooner? "Hang in there buddy, there's something about this cobbler I have to figure out first!" Convenient as well that Dante lost his phone and also lost any concept of calling for backup. He didn't even try! If Robyn wasn't nosy and happy to casually violate Dante's privacy, he'd be dead and it would be his own fault! And once again we have some remote part of New York City where you can have a car chase and a shootout and nobody will call the police. Dante should also stop carrying those glass daggers in his car. Certainly this show doesn't mean to suggest that a car accident will result in that kind of an injury? I was in a car accident a couple of years ago. The combination of impact with the other vehicle along with the impact of the airbag will definitely slow a person down! No need for contrived injuries treated by Hollywood first aid! Speaking of which, "the tourniquet isn't working!" Well no shit! You're not supposed to pull the stabby object out of the friggin' wound! The NYPD doesn't teach basic first aid?! No, instead we need to tap the powder out of a bullet and cauterize the wound like John Wick would do. I have a feeling if you tried that in real life, you'd still have a terrible bleeding wound except now it would just be burnt too. And infected. And painful enough to cut any heart-to-heart talks short. The episode should have ended with Dante comatose in a hospital bed and a doctor solemnly saying to another doctor "looks like this dumbass dumped gunpower into an open wound and lit it on fire! That's too bad, we probably could have saved his leg if he had just left the broken glass in there!" Wounded Dante and wounded Dad took out 6/7 bad guys but couldn't scrounge a single bullet between any of them? Both of them should have been burdened with an abundance of guns. Maybe they were worried the NYPD was about to show up and they didn't want to be heavily armed while black. Ha! Called it last week, I knew that mail delivery for Dante was some bullshit! Props to the show for making that a plot point but having said that, Dante should have immediately recognized that that isn't how you get mail in a office setting. Is Dee actually old enough to go to Mel's bar? Hey kid, we love you but not more than we love our liquor license so get out of here! 7 Link to comment
KWalkerInc May 6 Share May 6 I liked that some of the characters got to have a little bit of fun, though of course it can't last for long. Tyrese was going on with the exposition about his bad life for so long that I thought Dee would disarm him (I know that's likely beyond her training, but he was talking for so long I thought he would forget he had a gun on them or something). Or Mel could have approached from the other direction and knocked him out, but then he wouldn't have gotten to escape to probably inevitably reappear in some future episode. I'm glad Robyn didn't give all that much thought to reuniting with Miles, and I thought Aunt Vi's pep talk about Dante was cute, not that it will lead to anything with the season almost over and him preoccupied by his family drama. 3 Link to comment

That was the moment I switched to the Golden Knights-Stars playoff game and didn't come back. Between Dante and his dad being chased by the mob with the Secret Brother! revelation, retconned Miles trying to mack on Robyn, and the peach cobbler subplot, I rolled my eyes more times than it was probably safe to do so. The Queen for a Day scene was just the cherry on top of all the ridiculousness. Sigh. Edited May 6 by michelec 2 Link to comment
AnimeMania May 6 Share May 6 If Tyrese's life was so bad, he shouldn't have been sporting those expensive-ass kicks. 3 Link to comment
milkyaqua May 6 Share May 6 I will never understand shows where the good guys are able to take out this bad guy and that but then leave behind all of their weapons much less not maybe take a phone. Ugh. I've never been into this show for the personal relationship drama so I have no interest in Dante's brother. It was bad enough with just his dad. And yes, Harry being able to figure out the peach cobbler just in time before finding out Dante was in dire straits was comical. Anything with Dee is almost always eye rolling to me and yes, if Tyrese is that hard-up for money, maybe buying expensive shoes isn't the way to go about dealing with limited resources. Agree, this kid is probably going to turn back up so Dee can drag her mom and others into trying to help. 3 Link to comment

Trini May 8 Share May 8 Fashion highlights: Everyone's coats/jackets at the festival; Robyn's leopard ombre sweater. The rare fashion DON'T: whatever that skirt/pants combo Dee was wearing in her first scene. I didn't mind the cobbler C-plot and seeing Robyn being relaxed for a minute; but yeah, it was odd contrasting that with Dante and his father trying to escape some assassins. Speaking of Dante; did they really have that whole plot just so he could learn about a half-brother?? And as already pointed out, a bunch of decisions in this plot were dumb. Man, on one hand, I was about to come on here with an angry rant after Robyn was wondering who could she date - after 4 seasons of flirting with Dante - so I was kinda glad for Vi's talk at the end, even though it was just pointing out the obvious. On the other hand, at this point (or maybe never, who knows), I don't believe they're actually going to move forward Robyn/Dante in any significant way. If (big IF) anything, maybe the middle of next season. I get they want us to have some compassion for Dee's friend of a friend, but that dude committed several crimes in the short time we saw him; I don't know if he should get off that easily. 4 Link to comment
andromeda331 May 9 Share May 9 The Peach cobbler competition felt like it should be on a different show. But it was nice to see Robyn just hanging out for the day. I was about to be pissed at her for thinking about going on a date with Miles but she fixed it at then by remembering all the bad times. Thank you. There's a reason they divorced. I still hate how they changed Miles. 5 Link to comment
12catcrazy May 10 Share May 10 Sigh. This series started out with promise. All I can say is if this is the best these writers can do, maybe we should have AI writing TV shows. I mean, really, Dante's father having a secret child with another woman - what an original concept. Maybe these writers are the same ones who wrote NCIS - New Orleans and figured that they'd do a bit of script recycling. Its a shame that such a good cast is working in a show that is inane crap interspersed with lots of things that go boom, but it appears that is what the viewing audience wants to watch on Sunday nights as per the ratings. I'd like to say that I'm out, but since my other half kind of likes this show, I'll continue to watch and bitch about it. At least the hair, clothes, and makeup are on point which is more than can be said about most of the other action TV shows. 3 Link to comment

Ah yes, there's a warehouse area near the Queensboro Bridge where all the car chases are shot. See also: Blue Bloods. :-) 1 Link to comment
