S11.E01: Season 11 Premiere

The way they hyped up Rita Ora is ridiculous. She's fine and all but they acted like she's some A-lister when she's barely had a hit here. I know she's much bigger in the UK.

I liked everyone tonight. The weakest was Kevin Hart doing a bit. Starfish is the one who would have gone home in a regular episode.

I have very solid guesses for Goldfish and Starfish but am less confident with Ugly Sweater and Lovebird. Has there ever been a Bachelor who was a football player? Because Lovebird is giving Bachelor clues with football player thighs.

My two guesses:

Goldfish is Vanessa Hudgens. Something about the finally caught me comment mixed with her voice is why I'm leaning that way.

Starfish is Kate Flannery who played Meredith on The Office. Irish, sitting at a desk, all those streams and again the voice. 

I think it was a decent start with even the weakest performance being okay until the Kevin Hart schtick. What a waste of a great looking costume for one. And the whole thing was too long and not funny enough. I did laugh when Kevin stomped off in the book shoes. As a visual gag, that worked. But ten minutes for one laugh is not worth it to me.

I like Rita Ora.  Most in the U.S. won't know her for her singing.  I know her best as Jamie Dornan's sister in the "50 Shades" movies.  I like that she has legit and competent musical knowledge.

I did miss Nicole, though.  I wish that Nick had at least acknowledged that Nicole had other commitments (on the West End or Broadway, I forget which) but we hope to see her again in the future.  When Nicole is available again, I would love if they dumped Ken or possibly Jenny and kept Rita.

Goldfish is amazing.  I think she's far better than the rest of them.  I don't think Starfish or Lovebird were that great.  They were ok by karaoke standards but pail in comparison to actual singers.

I thought Kevin Hart was hilarious.  He was instantly recognisable and he was hilariously bad.  I'm assuming he knew he couldn't sing and the show knew he couldn't sing and this was just a freebie boot for the others like Kermit the Frog was.

If Lovebird is a football player associated with The Bachelor that finally found love, I could see it being Jesse Palmer.  Or maybe the one that was secretly gay.

The only things I know about Rita Ora is that she's famous in the UK/Europe since on occasion she winds up on a fashion blog I read, she hosted a season of America's Next Top Model, and she's married to Taika Waititi (also courtesy of that fashion blog).

She's okay as a host but agree it would have been nice if Nicole had been mentioned unless she's not coming back.  And yes, Ken needs to go.

Goldfish was good and no one was terrible until Book/Kevin Hart.  I didn't get the purpose of him appearing but whatever show...

I agree about Kevin Hart. Reminded me of when Mickey Rouke took his own costume off.  I have no clues about anyone so far; none of the voices sounded familiar to me. Not a fan of Rita Ora.

I don't have an opinion about Rita yet, but it seemed like she kept saying that everyone had a great voice, which wasn't true. I don't know where she lives, but I wonder if she will have issues guessing the American contestants, especially ones that aren't singers and are more pop culture related. I know there are lots of Brits who are popular in the UK but that I have no clue about.

I had heard of Rita Ora and knew she was a successful singer in England, but I didn't know much about her until a couple of weeks ago.  That's when she was on The View and also cohosted NBC's Hoda & Jenna show.  (The latter was much publicized because Kelly Rowland pulled out at the last minute and Rita was asked to fill in.)  I found her to be delightful on both shows and deserving of her own talk show.  Here she is with Hoda.  (She had cut her hair right before.  The bob is really flattering.)  I hope she stays on The Masked Singer.

The one that was secretly gay? I googled. Colton Underwood. That would explain why there was no bride on the top of his cake.

Before Kevin showed up, I was waffling on Tattered Sweater or Starfish being the ones to go. They opened very strong with Goldfish; she's probably going to be the Group A finalist easily. Lovebird might be a darkhorse candidate, depending on the song choices in the future. 

But Starfish and Sweater, they both had decent singing voices, but not professional ones I'd say. (but fine for the show of course) I figured Sweater would get the auto-reveal in the end since he clearly needed on stage support (he came out on a float and the MIB's carried a stool when they escorted him off the stage. So despite being a good singer, I figured he'd be a one and done. 

Starfish also sounds older. She's got a good voice, but not a finalist voice, and her costume seems awkward since she seems to need to stand more spread eagled in it. The more awkward costumes tend to indicate early reveals.

Kart/Book was an okay costume, but it wasn't all that fancy. (especially considering how easily he was able to ditch it). It was only a couple steps above a sandwich board.

One laugh?  That was more than me.  I’ve thought Hart was mean-spirited since he told a”joke” about buying his kids’ love then sending back to their much poorer mom.  Here he wasted time and a spot for a “prank” that he didn’t even wait to see if it landed.  Not cool and not funny.

I admit to being cynical, but I always thought that most of the guesses were fed to the panel by the producers anyway. If that’s the case, she should have no problem.

A so so episode.  I thought Kevin Hart would be promoting a new movie but nothing.  He just wanted to be on the show I guess.  A waste of time imho.

.  I don't know who Rita Ora is but I like her already!  She's a very attractive woman....all the time!  Nicole is a pretty woman in her own right but has one of the ugliest facial expressions.

.  I agree with everyone who says they wished Ken would be replaced.

.  I like Jenny M!  Even with her Botox she always looks great!

.  I really wish this show would be rebooted to a more serious one.  What I mean is without all the over the top judging and comments.

.  Damn!  That Ding Dong save the contestant feature is still on the show.  I hate it when the judges save a singer.  We won't have a reveal that night!  Grrrr!
