Lexi, Duncan, Sam and Dennis attend an award ceremony for several SoCal Independent editing nominations. Meanwhile, Nell steps into babysit Sam's daughter, Tilly, who doesn't seem interested in hanging out with her "fun Aunt Nell."

Weak episode. Stupid premise.

This could be a good show, but the writing for Lexi's character is positively awful and amping up her character with the addition of her father is a disaster. Not even Brad Garrett can save this part of the show.

They need to concentrate on Nell and her deceased subjects. It's the main premise of the show. Stick with it. I like Nell. I like Edward. I love Cricket. Sam and Dennis are decent characters, sometimes borderline silly, but at least they seem like real human beings. Lexi is a caricature of a person.

Edward seriously critiquing Tilly’s pretend dinner was pretty funny especially since she accepted the critiques seriously though she was pretending

I really liked the part where Edward made Nell face the facts about her situation. It is just a fact that the clock is ticking, even if she does not like that. And it was nice that at the end the show pointed out that things are not as bleak as they may seem at first glance.

The little girl playing Tilly looks so much like the little girl who plays Beverly Rose on The Conners I wondered if it was the same kid.

I wonder if maybe the show has backed away from the premise because it is too similar to Ghosts on CBS.

It was cute more than it was funny, which sort of sums up the entire show for me.

I agree.  At the end of Season 1, I was hoping they'd get Edward & Lexi together, as I loved their banter back then.  I've liked their scenes together, and I thought that would be a good way to see a different side of Lexi, let the character grow a little, even.  But no, we get her dad.  I liked him in the first episode, but I really don't need him to be a recurring character taking up so much time/space.

And we got 2-3 minutes of time with obit lady?  That was weird.  Why wasn't she at the "dinner party"?  She certainly could have been doling out parenting advice to Nell.  Or serving as a reminder that single and no-kids ain't all that bad...

Wow.  I did not enjoy this episode.  Actually, I'm not sure about this season.  Was anything funny this ep?  Not sure this show can be classified as a comedy right now.  It's devolving into a soap.  Hopefully, things will pick up...

I kept expecting them to reference the miscarriage she had right before the show's beginning. But I guess this show is still trying to be more comedy than sad.

Exactly! Edward's comments would be extra painful because of this.

Probably because she wasn't at least a somewhat-recognizable guest star.

Assume they’re splitting up Sam and her husband but wish they’d get on with it. They barely give her anything to do as it is so I’m not surprised they’re just going to relegate her to some dating plots. They don’t seem to know what to do with her.
