The "Again With This" podcast just hit the "Melrose Place" episode that features Kassie dePaiva (Blair Cramer) as a classmate of Jo's, even though the reunion is taking place in Los Angeles, Jo has been established as an East Coaster, and KDP, you know, has a more Southern accent.

Behold baby Kassie!

So I have the Hallmark Mystery channel, or whatever it's called, on as kind of background noise, and there's a bunch of movies starring Alison Sweeney from DAYS as a crime-solving baker, with Cameron Mathison from AMC as her detective love interest (sort of? We're on like the third movie and I don't think they've kissed yet, but there's allegedly sexual tension) and Barbara Niven who played Liz Reynolds as her meddling mother. Maybe I still have Ryan Lavery PTSD, but Mathison's character seems like a smug douche. Niven is doing fine, though her character is (intentionally) annoying, but Sweeney is really a very charming performer. I can see why she was so popular on DAYS for so long.

Mathison is yelling at Sweeney for interfering in whatever murder case is going on, and she's all "Whatever, dude. We both know who's the star here, and I am clearly going to crack the case before you do." Also her hair is great.

ETA: The movies are called Murder She Baked.

ETA: Mathison and Sweeney finally made out! Just after she was held at gunpoint by a murderer! Now Sweeney is wearing a cute dress in a shade of red that is just gorgeous on her. She wears red as well as Erika Slezak does.

I'm sorry, you guys. I'm sick-ish (don't panic, just under the weather) and super bored.

If you didn't catch Scott Evans' (Oliver Fish) indie dramedy "Almost Love" when it got released on VOD in the spring, it's now going to be streaming on Netflix starting Sunday.

In other news, Brett Claywell (Kyle Lewis) is very cute with his baby son on Instagram.  For example:

Amanda Setton (Kimberly Andrews) talks to SOD about her maternity leave from "General Hospital" (the temp started yesterday):

https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/exclusive-amanda-setton-on-her-gh-leave/

I was a little surprised to learn that she's having her third child and not her first, but then again, she doesn't really do social media and seems to keep her private life to herself, which is totally her right.  I do wonder if that's why she kinda disappeared there for a few years, maybe she had the first two close together and took some time off.

Kassie's back for another "Days of our Lives" stint.  Turns out Eve

  Reveal spoiler

is behind Ben's kidnapping from his wedding to Ciara.  And it goes without saying that Eve being the EVUL VILLAIN in this story when Ben, Ron's newest Ford/Franco, MURDERED HER DAUGHTER is quite gross.

Ben being the perpetual victim is ridiculous. (Is Paige still dead? Yes? I know she was boring but that doesn't justify strangling the kid on the floor of her dorm shower and spending five minutes in prison for it.) That said, Kassie's commentary on the situation cracked me up:

“Usually I’m the one who gets tied up … that’s how I kind of embraced it because Eve is so different,”

Then I started trying to remember when Blair was tied up. I remembered her being shot, stabbed, thrown out a window, thrown off a roof, thrown in jail, sexually assaulted, etc., but it took me forever to remember her getting tied up. Apparently I blocked out Mad Mags dropping her in the trunk of the car bound for the crusher. Obviously anyone is justified in blocking out the Mad Mags story, but I really liked a handful of climactic scenes from that mess, including Victodd crying beside the car crusher. And then tweenage Starr screaming at Victodd that he'd killed Blair, and Victodd quietly begging Starr not to say that.

The end of Kassie's SOD interview to promote the Days story goes like this:

"If I had my druthers, I'd still be working on One Life to Live."

Agreed, Kassie. Very much agreed. Even though the best thing about OLTL being gone is that my headcanon of Todd and Blair living reasonably peacefully ever after remains undisturbed.

Adorable Pete Cortlandt as some Ford/Franco amalgam elicits exactly zero of my interest

I actually thought, in the very beginning, Ron did a better job with Ben than he did with Ford and Franco, having Ben really confront what he did, showing him getting therapy, etc.  I remember there was one scene where Eve saw him and tackled him and was wailing on him and Ben just took it and it did a good job of making him sympathetic without excusing him.

But now?  It's the usual, "Ugh, shut up, I totally apologized so stop bringing up my past crimes" attitude that was trademark Ford and the "I've been framed for a crime I didn't commit!" stories that Ron told with Franco again and again.  I mean, one of Ben's best friends now, the best man at his wedding, is Will, ONE OF THE PEOPLE HE MURDERED!  That's gross.

Soap operas? I don't know her. I read gay werewolf porn these days.

Although I do like to imagine that there's still a OLTL at times. As much as I loved me some Blair/Todd, I really like to imagine Matt Walton's silver fox Eli with Blair and them being a full on corner stone couple at this point. Maybe I like the idea so much because then every story wouldn't be about Todd and his idiocy... that Blair would get stories about her own damn self for a change.

Ah... to dream.

Just watched a very silly action movie called "Close Range" because it featured the one and only Scott Evans (Oliver Fish) in a small supporting role.  He plays a deputy sheriff who gets caught between a drug cartel and the low-rent Jack Reacher/Rambo/Liam Neeson from "Taken" who crossed them.

He also sports a kinda hilarious "I'm a cop!" bushy moustache, as you can see:

Wow, he just needs mirrored sunglasses and a toothpick to complete the look.

So I'm watching "Sydney White" (shut up), a teen comedy based on the "Snow White" fairy tale (shuuut uuup!), and who am I shocked to see bounce into frame but Crystal Hunt (Stacy Morasco).  She plays the titular character's friend and pledge sister in a pretty sizable role.

Yeah, that would've been about a year after she left Guiding Light, and about two years before she started playing Stacy.

Baby Cassie? She's already in her early 30's here. I did watch this episode when it was on Netflix.

At least he got a kind of hammy death. It's a giant waste, but that's GH for ya.

Maybe he could be brought on to the Bold and the Beautiful as a recast Rick? Although that show is basically the never-ending Hope/Liam/Steffy triangle.

@UYI will appreciate this.  Linda Thorson - who I recognized from her role as stuck-up schemer Rosemary Sinclair on UK soap "Emmerdale", but who also played Gabrielle's mother Julia from 1989-1992 - is playing a grand dame grandma in Hulu's "The Hardy Boys" adaptation.

I DO appreciate that! Thank you! All I've ever seen of her as Julia is online, of course, given my younger age (as young as turning 32 this coming February will allow me, but whatever) but it's good to see her still out there working (and of course, she replaced the recently deceased Diana Rigg on The Avengers way back when)! I do wish we had seen Gabrielle at least mention her mother when she returned from 2001-2004--Julia went to prison a year after her daughter did, but did she ever get out? I guess we'll never know!

Some happy 2021 news - Brett Claywell (Kyle Lewis) is engaged!

https://www.instagram.com/p/CJ76HmqA2Ts/

(He might regret proposing whilst his hair was in a manbun.  I regret it).

I also noticed Kristen Alderson (Starr Manning) and John Brotherton (Jared Banks) among the well-wishers in the comments.

I was momentarily confused because I thought he was already married with a kid, but actually reading the message tells me only the "with a kid" part was true. 'Til now, I guess. Anyway, congrats to them!

(Who was there photographing the manbun proposal? That doesn't seem romantic. Or maybe he set the camera up beforehand, which feels stagy and thus also not romantic, but whatever, you do you, Brett Claywell and Brett Claywell's Fiancée!)

I wondered the same!  I know Brett's been doing more BTS production stuff so he could have rigged up some kind of remote thing, I guess, but I definitely wondered.

Ordinarily I'd regret the man bun, but he proposed during a pandemic. I cut him a bit of slack here.

Their noodle is ADORABLE.

Happy futures, Brett Claywell, Brett Claywell's Fiancée, and Noodle!

Just keep your hat on, my dude.  I kid, I kid.

And agreed, their son is super cute.

This is both GL and OLTL related, sort of:

There is a going to be a tribute to Michael Zaslow (Roger on GL, David Renaldi on OLTL) hosted by Alan Locher next Friday (March 19th), and while it only includes his GL co-stars, one of them is Fiona Hutchison (Jenna on GL, and, of course, Gabrielle on OLTL) , so anyone who wants to see her again besides me, here's your chance! (Technically, Liz Keifer played Connie O'Neill on OLTL in the mid-80's, but that barely counts, lol).

Also, for those who are on Instagram, here's Fiona's page; I think it's her only social media link now:

https://instagram.com/fiona_hutchison_

Anyone have any thoughts on Roger's role switch on GH? I think they're gonna go for Drew, but tbh I would not be shocked if someone at ABC decided to try to bring Todd back in an attempt to either gain more viewers or not lose anymore, though it won't work. Either way, I wonder how the GH actors feel that Michael and Roger are going to get multiple characters instead of getting the axe for good.

The SVU ("Streetwise") where Fiona Hutchinson plays the mother of a murder victim was in the USA marathon today, it's a small part. I miss soap actors popping up on SVU, it doesn't happen now that all the soaps are West Coast.

I'm hearing rumors that Starr is coming back to GH.

Minor nitpick: It's Hutchison, not Hutchinson. No extra "n". :)

tbh, I can't really stomach SVU, although it would be great to see Fiona's episode someday. The Michael Zaslow tribute themed Locher Room reunion was today, and Fiona's in it, and of course I want to watch it soon and see her in particular. :)

In other news:

Robyn Griggs Wiley--who played Carlo's niece/Kevin's first girlfriend as a teenager, Stephanie Hobart, on OLTL from 1991-92--is doing going to be in the Locher Room on Friday, March 26th at 3 PM Eastern. Sadly, she is currently battling stage 4 cervical cancer, so a substantial part of their talk will probably be focused on that.

I definitely wondered the same - Frank et. al have teased/threatened to do more with the rights to AMC and OLTL, but not counting Dimitri's hands a few weeks ago, Nora's the only one who has showed up and it's been a while since the last time.

Michael already has two boring love interests, he doesn't need a third.
