zenithwit June 24, 2022 Share June 24, 2022 Streaming on Netflix: Quote Hopelessly entitled or simply in need of tough love? Ten spoiled young adults experience nature without a parental safety net in this reality series. Anyone watching this show? I'm two episodes in. On one hand, this is the perfect type of mindless entertainment that's great to have on in the background for household chores. On the other hand, any show that forces a vegan to see a decapitated deer carcass without any warning or ability to opt out is pretty messed up. Also, I don't believe for one second that they actually blew up their stuff. 6 Link to comment
jackjill89 June 24, 2022 Share June 24, 2022 I've seen 6 episodes. It is interesting and annoying all at once. Wish we had some context regarding how long they are out there. I'm hoping we see if anyone has really learned or grown from this and if any real-world changes were made. I hope they did blow up all their things. 3 Link to comment
Mrs. Hanson June 24, 2022 Share June 24, 2022 (edited) I watched the whole thing all the way through. I liked it, and hope they do another season. I have kids who are 23 and 24 and are the opposite of these humans. Yeah me neither. My beef is this: That was NOT camping. That was glamping. They were putting on makeup? And the hike? That was a stroll. How they camped at basecamp should have been how they camped every night. And it made zero sense to hike to the final destination with their packs on - just adds more weight. Before I get any well how do you know? Four times across Isle Royale (well after age 40) and hiked Glacier, solo, at age 51. And that is just a few of the hikes I have been on. Oh that Last Chance Lake? That was luxurious to me. I would have wanted earplugs so the skeeters don't buzz in my ears all night. pH-factor June 25, 2022 Share June 25, 2022 Solomon is the worst. Stealing food, thinking the girl would fall for his charms as a thief. Lazy, entitled, all around horrid person. I pity anyone with a Solomon in their life, been there and lucky I didn't end up in prison for murder. Got to love Rae.not so much Devon as attitude can last for a lifetime but looks not so much. Glad Deandra realized cheerleaders really don't accomplish much in life being on the sidelines. Some of these parents puzzle me, if I was the parent of Sunny I'd move leaving no forwarding address or at least change the locks to the house and make sure everyone knows not to let him cross the threshold. He is way too old for mom and dad to support. I may finish this episode but then call it quits, so depressing to know what I'd been noticing about these snowflakes around my work and neighborhood is so prevalent. 2 Link to comment
Mindthinkr July 2, 2022 Share July 2, 2022 I was very distracted by the scenery. It looks like Scotland; especially when they get to the final hike up the mountain. Link to comment
BonnieD July 3, 2022 Share July 3, 2022 I'm ashamed to admit I gobbled this up in two days while hating every bite. I despise entitled youngsters and blame their parents for their needy, spoiled behavior. But it was a guilty pleasure watching them improve their characters. However, a lot of the challenges seemed very set up and that irked me. In the second episode it began with the "chopping down a tree for tonight';s firewood" scenario. Anyone who knows anything about campfires knows you have to have dry wood. A fresh, sappy tree will only create smoke and a mess. So clearly they did not use the tree they "chopped down" and supposedly stripped and chunked and split into appropriately sized pieces of firewood. So fake that from that point on I had trouble buying most of it. Another example, you don't suddenly trudge all the way up a mountain with no hiking experience. A body has to be conditioned for that. Just no. Anyway, it was enjoyable enough to keep my attention and I would have chosen the same winner as the kids did. 2 Link to comment
sadtvjunkie July 3, 2022 Share July 3, 2022 Really because I thought Liam should win. I felt he actually grew the most. Snowflake Mountain is filmed in the beautiful Lake District region, located in north-west England. Famous not only for its lakes, but it's stunning forest and mountain scenery too, the Lake District is a popular tourist attraction for hiking and camping holidays - making it the perfect setting for Netlfix's back-to-nature show. The majority of filming took place in Cumbria, in the Lake District National Park, although some filming also took place at The Graythwaite Estate(opens in new tab). The Graythwaite Estate is owned by the Sandys family, who have lived on the 5000 acre estate for over 500 years. The estate is also home to Graythwaite Hall, a 17th century manor house whose gardens and grounds are open for the public to visit from April until mid August. 1 Link to comment
sadtvjunkie July 3, 2022 Share July 3, 2022 Netflix originally teased the arrival of Snowflake Mountain last August, as a new addition to its unscripted shows. This suggests that filming took place during autumn and winter of 2021. There's no way I'd be swimming in that cold water ever. I'm from FL and our water never gets below 68 degrees. I've been to Maine in the summer and I swear there were ice cubes floating in the lake with people swimming in it. I'm no snowflake because I've always camped, hiked, cooked over a campfire, chopped my own wood, and slept in a tent on the ground. etc. But Hell No to cold water! Impressed they were swimming in it. 1 Link to comment
LakeGal July 4, 2022 Share July 4, 2022 (edited) I have watched about 6 episodes. I was really disgusted with Solomon. I was angry at the show for giving him so much screen time. I wanted them to just ignore him until he finally left. I wish Liam would quit the twerking. I feel like he is sticking his butt in the camera every episode to do that. Not a good look. This group would never survive on Survivor. They were glamping. The last chance lake set-up was even better than what the Survivor folk sleep in. Edited July 4, 2022 by LakeGal 3 Link to comment
ShowsILoveToHate July 6, 2022 Share July 6, 2022 My husband and I binged this the other day. Like someone mentioned, it’s great to have on in the background; I got all of my laundry sorted, folded, and put away. I didn’t mind who won, but I would’ve liked to see Liam win. A few of them came a long way. As the episodes progressed, it did bug me a little at how “glampy” their area was, but then I realized that this wasn’t meant to be a punishment, plus the fact that the contestants could leave at any time I’m sure they didn’t want everyone to just walk away. And really, compared to the creature comforts that they live in, to them, this WAS roughing it! lol Ugh Solomon. I liked him a tiny bit when he didn’t quit during the night at the Lake, but that was about it as far as any decent qualities go. He could’ve had the biggest story arc if would’ve just let his guard down and stayed and became a little more self-aware. I agree with whoever said that the structures at the Lake were better than they usually build on Survivor. 😆 I wondered where it was filmed, how long they were really there for, etc. Thank you to @sadtvjunkie for that info. Oh, and I thought immediately that they really didn’t blow up their stuff. lol I loved the scenery, and I loved seeing them all at the top of the mountain. I hope they got some great selfies from up there! Link to comment
RoxiP July 13, 2022 Share July 13, 2022 Binge watched over the last few days...grew to be fond of some of them. I think Sunny actually made a huge turn-around, as did Liam. Loved Rae for her enthusiasm...I think it would have been more effective just to take away all their makeup because they wasted a lot of time putting it on. What was the point of bringing Francescal in after they had started? Is she the daughter of a producer who wanted to make a point? Unlike some others I liked Devon and after seeing the first video from her mother understood exactly why she was the way she was...the woman didn't have a kind word to say to her! Several of them were unremarkable...Darriea was barely in the show until the mountain climbing scene. Deandra's boobs got more screen time! (WAY TOO MUCH SCREEN TIME.) Carl could have been such a leader...too bad it took him so long to wake up and understand how he was getting in his own way. 1 Link to comment
sainte-chapelle August 4, 2022 Share August 4, 2022 I am about half way through but the challenges so far are pretty lame and the tents and beds look pretty cozy to me. I am a bit of a glamper, I prefer cottages or solid structures to sleeping on the ground and I am allergic to well...a lot things. Even I could have handled that camp no problem, actually it looked nice! Solomon is such an entitled asshole. The last straw was when Liam took the time to learn to cook a vegan meal and he was super rude. What have you contributed? Why don't you cook? Apparently now he is some sort of Christian pastor...really? You are the most selfish and entitled person I have come across on my TV screen in a while...ME ME ME! Not sure why Sunny wanted to be buddies with this asshole. 1 Link to comment
Pj3422 September 20, 2022 Share September 20, 2022 (edited) This seems like a rework of the 2005 show “Filthy Rich Cattle Drive,” in which rich, spoiled kids of celebrities and movers & shakers served as ranch hands. The contest was won by a then-unknown Kourtney Kardashian (who came off a lot better than the others) So much whining and entitlement! SnarkShark June 11, 2023 Share June 11, 2023 So the conclusion is that they all got at least a little better, some more than a little, except for Solomon, who got even worse. Link to comment
