10/13/2021 (08:00PM - 09:00PM) (Wednesday) : Charles helps Dylan with a longtime patient who was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia. Stevie, Maggie and Vanessa investigate the legitimacy of a patient's cancer diagnosis. Crockett is caught off-guard. Will pitches a new medical technology.

I liked this. I felt really sorry for the misdiagnosed patients

I think Dr. Dylan Scott has quickly become the best character on the show.

He was awesome last night!  Kind of makes the incumbents look like cardboard cut outs.  Except for Dr. Charles.  I have a soft spot for him.

I really liked Dr. Charles' and Dr. Scott's storyline with the misdiagnosed schizophrenia patient.  What a nightmare for the patient and his family.  I'll bet those quickie 5 second diagnoses happen a lot, too.  How can they not?  Doctors barely spend 15 minutes with patients in the real world.

Are there new writers because this season is so much better than last. Of course it helps that April and Natalie are gone. 🥳 Having a veteran actor like Steven Weber doesn’t hurt either nor does having two new docs. And more Dr. Charles is always great.
It appears that Dr. Marcel may be having an existential crisis. What would a “general surgeon” have to do to become a specialist? Anyone know?

I also enjoyed that storyline, and appreciated the fact the story never became too preachy.  I get writers and showrunners wanting to inject issues into their shows, but so many shows force them into their narrative instead of building a natural narrative (see the other Dick Wolf franchise on Thursday nights).

I also appreciate how they've included several storylines about poor people and minorities getting substandard care without being too preachy or too obvious. They build enough sympathy for the character that the audience feels wronged on the patient's behalf.

I was relieved that they didn't go the route of having the police shoot the patient. It would have been easy to do that. They are really cutting down on the melodrama.

I was actually disappointed that the episode ended so quickly. I can't even hate-watch this show anymore! Kudos to them for turning things around.

what was the schizophrenia misdiagnosis? i missed the outcome.

Dr. Charles and Dr. Scott realized that the patient was misdiagnosed because he was poor and black and the patient has been pumped up on the wrong drugs for years.  Dr. Charles diagnosed him as bipolar, and now the patient can receive the correct treatment.  The antipsychotics the patient was on are no joke and he was taking high doses because he was a black man and because they were not working due to them being the wrong drugs for his condition.
