So....I've got a question....  How is it that Janelle is so fabulously wealthy, with so many expensive things?  I do not doubt one bit that she's smart as a whip and did a fantastic job trading in on her fifteen minutes of fame on BB.  But....are the fees for D-list celebrity appearances that lucrative?  Is she an active instagram "influencer" with sponsors and raking it in on advertising $$?  All those designer clothes and accessories and expensive cosmetics have to be paid for somehow.  Does she have a really high paying regular job?  Did she marry money?

That photo of her in ratty sweats with her phone to her ear standing in her kitchen was so Janelle.  100% perfectly made up, or schlepping around home, Janelle doesn't care what you think.  She just oozes self-confidence, but not obnoxiously entitled confidence that other inflated ego BB veterans **cough**cough**Cody, Paul, Dani, Christmas, Frankie**cough**cough** exhibit.

She’s in real estate and she married well. She’s only now getting into influencing (on IG her follower count was 82k when BB22 premiered and is now at 252k).

Unlike Cody, Janelle‘s real estate career looks to have gone very well; look at her past sales on Janelle’s realtor webpage, and she appears to be pretty solidly placed in the Multi-Million Dollar Club.
 

ETA: Wasn’t that one of Janelle’s initial complaints in the first week or two of the season - how much money doing the show was costing her, in terms of the listings/commissions she had to transfer off to other brokers before entering the House?

Minor point of clarification: according to Janelle, “escort” in the sense of “paid arm candy”, not “prostitute”.  
Janelle has been pretty emphatic on that differentiation in the past, IIRC.  😉

I read somewhere that Janelle’s husband is in commercial real estate and owns multiple hotels with someone else. There is not much known about him, as he is not a public persona. Janelle’s attitude seems as if she does real estate because she loves it and loves negotiating and the thrill of the deal for her clients. She has said that she is not interested in having a team under her. So her husband’s money may be for the family and Janelle’s money is for her to spend on her expensive stuff she likes. She has never said this directly, however that is the impression that I have. I don’t think they need Janelle’s income for the family. It seems like she views it as “extra” and, therefore, she can easily take time off when she wants to do CBS competitive reality TV shows. There is not pressure for her income to contribute to get the mortgage payment each month.

Yeah, Janelle was a "yacht girl." These women get paid to basically be arm candy to rich men, as you said.

Rachel, Janelle, Diane, Amber (BB8 - LMAO), Porsche (who actually knew Janelle because they worked the same circles in Miami), Rachel Swindler, Liz Nolan.

I think the difference between a VIP cocktail waitress and an escort is that with a VIP cocktail waitress sex is optional. It's a bit like the geisha in Japan where they CAN get a wealthy sugar daddy but mostly they are paid to be arm candy to wealthy businessmen. As I said, sex is optional and not an expected part of the job.

I think Janelle also has such nice stuff because she's the type of person who really likes nice stuff. This isn't a knock on her -- she's also generous and gives away her nice stuff to people. But if I had the money I wouldn't even buy red bottoms because I'd think I couldn't even walk in them. Janelle is the type to buy the red bottoms, blisters be damned.

Wow.  In truth, sexual services are not a mandatory requirement of either occupation.  Contrary to the opinions of some, “escort” and “prostitute” are not necessarily synonymous terms - and I’m confused as to how that leap was even made for “VIP cocktail waitress”.

Having known some "escorts" (actually the name is sugar baby and mentor/sponsor) sex is NOT optional. There's often a contract that spells out the terms and conditions of the agreement. Like "mentor agrees to pay the rent of ___ in exchange for sexual relations once a week." 

They aren't prostitutes in the sense that they have a steady "mentor." The two girls I know who did it said they loved the work. They got designer bags, shoes, their tuition paid for them, their rent paid. Hey, different strokes for different folks. 

Janelle was a VIP cocktail waitress and she explained in BB6 and BB7 that her job entailed maybe spending an evening aboard a yacht with some guy, sharing some drinks, etc. She was not an escort or sugar baby. She had boyfriends. She didn't bring her work home. In fact, she said she broke up with Michael (BB6) because he liked to go out clubbing at night and she said that since her work often entailed working at night on her free time she preferred to stay in and watch movies. 

Rachel Reilly explained that she DID on occasion spend the night with her clients. She said that she liked to get pass out drunk for that part of her work. I remember her and Brendon arguing about whether that kind of drinking was a problem. 

Jesus I can't believe I remember all this.

Not sure how I wandered into this topic, but since I’m here...

I don’t think there is a set definition for either job title. It depends on the person and the situation. For some prostitutes, using the title of Escort just makes it sound classier. But I think there are also escorts who are just, well, escorts. It’s like being a masseuse. Sometimes they’re sex workers, other times they’re just giving massages. Just ask Phoebe Buffay. 😉

I want her to do my makeup!! A couple of months ago I bought that red Ordinary peeling solution because it's about the only thing she uses that I can afford. I've always used it in the evening, until yesterday morning. Since I was next to a window in the daylight I was able to fully do a comparison. My skin definitely looked better and smoother afterward! I cannot believe how inexpensive the Ordinary line is, especially with their glass bottles and droppers.
