  1. I'm gonna have to nitpick... there were no plastic bags in USSR like the one prison guard used to gather Nina's belongings. We went to the store with our own shopping bags, usually home sewn from thick fabric... or there were net like things. Also, in the next episode (it's not a spoiler cause we know Oleg's brother died) the cemetery is all wrong. In America cemetery is a field, a meadow. In Eastern Europe it's a wooded area. Unless it's a very new plot, but there were a LOT of tomb stones in different state of being weathered down for it to be a new plot...
  2. oh gosh, don't get me started on Red Sparrow, I was afraid i'm gonna do permanent damage to my eyes from the amount of eye rolling that was happening lol Especially during the scene: CIA officer: dfks'gdghr'hgis'kghf'foig JLaw's character: your Russian is perfect. I'm like wow really?! My Russian then sucks lol but that's OT. What I do like about this show is that they hire Russian actors and have everyone at the embassy actually speak Russian most of the time. IDK how it's for a non-Russian speaking ear, but I love this back and forth switch. Obviously they needed English speaking actors to play "illegals" so I give them a pass on "Russian" that is attempted by P&E. Though what bugs me is that Phillip's name is Misha, while Elizabeth's is Nadezhda.... Russian names are not like English, where Bob and Robert, though technically the same name, are different legal names Nadezhda is Nadia. Mikhail is Misha. In familiar settings short names will be used, in unfamiliar or professional, long names. And back then, when someone introduced themselves they'd use long name. Even if it would be introducing yourself to a friend of a friend. Later it will slip into familiar versions of names most likely. Unless you're a kid and introduce yourself to an adult. Then you'll most likely use short name, These days it's a bit more Western. In professional settings you still introduce yourself by full name, but if it's friends of friends, or just people hanging out together, they might say "I'm Misha"
  3. Actually a lot of Russian actors are either immigrants or kids of immigrants. And most of them have slight English accents, which is actually quite brilliant casting, as, even if you came to a foreign country at an age, when you already were fluent and established in your mother tongue, by living in a foreign environment, listening to native speakers, adopting American (in this case) way of speaking, you acquire that slight accent and/or melody of your new language and subconsciously transfer it onto your native language. I came to US at 17. My (Belarusian "tinted") Russian was my main language. Just 2-3 years later, when I went back to Belarus to visit family and friends everyone kept commenting on how I have an accent after such a short time. Now, almost two decades later I catch myself saying some Russian words with quite heavy English accent, when I speak too fast and get too excited lol I also notice how my Russian sentence building is effected by English grammar. I'd say something and immediately think: what language was that? lol
  4. All I’ve got to say is this show owes Artem the ringiest ringer that ever rang.
  5. I don't think I've seen him on DWTS, but I was just randomly watching the latest SYTYCD (got through halfway and remembered why I hated the live shows lol, I guess i'll stick to auditions and thinning the herd weeks from now on) But during the academy week there was an "all-star" named Paul ( I think). I don't think I watched his season, as he didn't look familiar. But DAMN he is a good ballroom dancer. Couldn't take my eyes off him. I'll sign the petition do bring him on the show.
  6. I mean, he is stuck babysitting older ladies... Not much potential to wow. He took Lea and Nancy as far as he could, but they WERE "older" ladies... "older" ladies do not go much farther on this show... Yet Keo gets and butchers the talent of Jodie and Evanna.... I guess Evanna is still TBD, but that first dance, though nice, didn't showcase her like she should have been. Lol maybe if Toni comes back he'll be on babysitting duty again, LOL and Artem will get a young star with great potential LOL I really liked Tony too, and was always mad at TPTB sticking him with older contestants. Though he DID get few ringers in his day. When is it gonna be Artem's turn.
  7. Danelle did well. It's adorable how much he trusts Artem and how he talked her through the beginning of that routine. The kid... Milo? was infectiously fun. Juan Pablo's dance wasn't really a dance. It was him doing partnering tricks with Cheryl. In those 2 seconds he did actual steps he did have nice rhythm and movement. I'd be surprised if he didn't. Not trying to generalize, but al Latinos I knew or know are super natural. I always loved watching them dance and partner each other. John made me smile. He's having so much fun, even if it's clunky and awkward at times. Evanna is wasted on Keo. Why couldn't they partner her with Artem. She has those classic lines that would have complemented his style. Just like I agree with someone above, Val is wasted on Nancy. Say what you want about C-brothers, but they both are VERY good and flashy dancers. Meek dancers get lost next to them. I expected better from Mary Lou to be honest.
  8. My picks would be Brad May, Niedermayer brothers, Louongo... I know they are all Canadians, but... lol oooh oooh let's get Bryz!!! and my pipe dream - Hilary Knight <3
  9. They really need to do that. I mean so many athletes already live in LA area. I want more hockey representation. There are two NHL teams, one more up north, bunch of AHL teams. Usually if a player stays in California long enough to justify acquiring property, they retire there. (And no, Sean Avery is not hockey. There are pesty players who you hate until they are on your team, and then there's Sean Avery.) I
  10. Artem in foxtrot from the get go... be still my heart lol
  11. idk, I gave up on him when he butchered the chance he got with Jodie: dance experience, in good shape, nostalgia fanbase, good story of overcoming drugs... wasted... (and I'm bitter they didn't give her to Artem lol)
  12. I think that's what TPTB want to do. Slowly introduce new pros who will get a good following right away, so they can "retire" some of the old dogs, who probably, cost a pretty penny these days...
  13. Luna was my fav character too. But I never knew the name of the actress. I know John Schneider from Smallville. (not old enough for Dukes of Hazzard)
  14. ok the only names that I immediately recognized were John Schneider and Mary Lou Retton. Because of discussion here I know who Evanna is. If not for this board, I wouldn't have recognized the name. I probably would have recognized the face, but wouldn't have been able to place it. I might tune in, or watch it a day later on Apple Tv. Can't say I'm, too excited...
  15. Artem is not boring. He's... phlegmatic I guess... he doesn't bring drama, he dials it down, dilutes it. That's why he's been stuck babysitting. It does make sense for him to get a Paralympian when you look at the cast of pros and celebs, but he's overdue for a "ringer". I doubt he'll ever get one though. No drama... He was able to create gems with limited abilities of his partners. I know he won in UK, but I wish America would be able to see how great of a choreographer and dancer he is when he's not bound by age, size, and physical abilities of his partners. Someone above mentioned that a lot of guys when dancing from afar look similar to them. Idk, I can always pick out Artem at a glance. I also knew it was him right away in that club scene in Gilmore Girls Netflix thing. Can't mistake those lines.
  16. And whoever is the contestant-guy needs to invite other guys for the beginning of the dance. And all the girls need to be sitting in the audience lol Edit: damnit, now I want to go an rewatch the whole series lol
  17. I'm ok with athletes, even Olympians, but not from "artistic" sports. (still dreaming of seeing my girl crush Hilary Knight). I just don't want super-duper-mega popular athletes. Grandpa Ross was charming and dedicated, but he should have gone a lot earlier than he did. Another dream star: ANYONE from Boy Meets World. And a "never gonna happen" star: Antonio Banderas.
  18. Got lost on YouTube yesterday as it often happens and saw this.
  19. I agree, as much as I love Meryl, and as great as she was in the first, I still wasn't 100% sold on her being Donna. I LOVED Lilly James! Actually all the younger-selves were great. Some good young actor blood. I felt like this one was more heart-felt. I bawled at the church scene. Still not crazy about Amanda Seyfried. She was the weakest link for me in the first one, but her limited role in this one might have contributed to me liking prequel/sequel so much. Cher wasn't really necessary for the story, but her "mic drop" of a performance was worth it. The whole movie cast was singing... I was thinking, nice... you can sing, kudos. And then THE PRO shows up. PS. wasn't one of 2500 Skarsgard kids available for the role of young Bill? lol (though I thought Josh Dylan did superb job, not complaining, just curious lol)
  20. I do to, but I still love the casting of Banderas. At least it's somewhat believable that women will be standing in line to be with him. The old Picasso is an asshole, but he's a charismatic asshole (and I guess with a lot of energy in bed lol) Maybe not in this makeup and hair as much, but all these years later Señor Banderas still does it for me lol
  21. I WOULD like to give the show casting department props for using accent-true actors for small roles of foreigners. Or at least keeping in a language group. I'm really annoyed at what American (and British) actors think Slavic accent sounds like. Here, they might have had a Russian playing Bosnian, but at least it's close enough to sound authentic.
  22. Finally caching up. Just started “once upon a time” here to say that it’s ducking brilliant that Gaiman is god. Ill be back after I finish the episode.

DAT SAVE tho! Loving this SCF so far. First time in a LONG time I don't care who wins in a good way. Usually I either pull for one team, or wish both team would lose lol This time: will be good either way. Though I guess i'm 49% Knights, 49% Caps and extra 2% Ovechkin... I need a 7 game series though. make it happen!
  24. Ok I'm kinda angry. I marathoned through 6 seasons... and the whole Booth and Brennan getting together was so anticlimactic... like there's this build up for years (it took me few weeks, I can't imagine how let down the fans of the show were IRL), there's tension, there's chemistry... and then... "ok, it happened, whatevs"
