Hmm, I never thought of that...I'll have to rewatch, cause I don't know if I ever noticed Denise's, ummm....size.
-
Yes, she was amazing in Fargo! She's a good actress and her efforts elevated what I thought was such tired material, but with a twist! I can feel I'd be sick of that dog voiceover thing quickly. I like to give shows a few episodes before I fully say yes or no, so I'll be back after a few more air.

I was less than excited about this, especially as the news about the production made everything sound less than ...ready. Plus, the idea of adding another streaming service is starting to feel excessive. However, I was so into that trailer! I guess those bastards at CBS are going to get some of my money. I'll watch the first episode CBS airs for free and then decide but, I think I might be in any way. Damn my love of Star Trek!

I think after this show, the interest in the restaurant will skyrocket. I'm already plotting my visit, but I figure 3, maybe 4 years out!

That movie sounded SO ridiculous, that I almost can't believe it's not a real movie! At first, I was a little annoyed that Dev & co weren't in it until they turned up at the movies. The 3 NYC stories were good ones though & a nice representative of other stories in the city. Especially the people who we don't "see", like doormen and the cab drivers. I cracked up during the scene with the deaf couple and she kept telling him to lick her vagina...and then the outraged mother confronted them. At first, I thought oh maybe they were playing with some different construction of the episode and they weren't really deaf. Andy Samberg as the voice of Nic Cage works!

You summed up the issues on the show so well! In fact, your summary makes the show sound more ridiculous than I thought it was and I saw the episodes!

I agree this isn't the show to try something like that, just a wish. I'm sure Raj will end up with someone by the end. Stuart will still be pathetic, cause hilarious.

Canceled then un-canceled! Crazy! Let's hope they can fix some of the issues that we raised. They have something amazing and rare with the 3 leads and they should capitalize on that. I'm looking forward to the next 10 episodes and I'd even be ok if they wrap it up within those 10. Just don't mess it up! Now if they can only use that time machine they used to make this happen and go back to November 8th, 2016...

I don't think I need to see Raj (or Stuart) in relationships. I just need them to have something that doesn't make them annoying, pathetic or creepy. I'd be as infuriated about getting them relationships as I would be if they were female characters. Too often the default move on shows, is that in order for a person to be happy, they NEED TO BE WITH SOMEONE! Otherwise, how sad for them. I know the show has morphed into a traditional relationship sitcom and it has suffered because of that. As long as Raj, more so than Stuart since he's part of the original cast gets something interesting and satisfying in the next 2 years then fine. Given where the show is now, I know it's going to be a GF. Maybe one day, tv shows will be brave enough to have an individual person (male or female) who is single and not wanting to blow their brains out because of it, and perhaps even have other characters not harp on that as a character flaw. And one day maybe my parents will get me that pony.

Exactly what Skyfall said, especially points 1& 2. The economics of tv shows are complicated and not what they used to be. Ownership of a show is vital. I would also add that the demographics of the show weren't the "favored" ones. I've always hated that particular stat cause I watch or at least sample a lot of tv and I am still in that "desired" demo. It's a false narrative that younger people are more willing to change brands. Maybe in the past, but I don't think that's as true anymore. The new generation All in the Family vibe they were trying for did not work. Maybe because Tim Allen is no Archie Bunker or maybe a Norman Lear is required to guide the story. I'll try to find the link to an interesting article about why the show might have been canceled. I'm just highly amused at how "sensitive" conservatives are being about the cancellation cause they are being persecuted and this is more proof.

The Great Indoors - General Discussion

The show has been canceled - http://deadline.com/2017/05/the-great-indoors-canceled-cbs-one-season-1202092991/ -
I don't like Colleen. Like at all. I've tried but something about the way the actress has played her this season has just rubbed me all kinds of the wrong way. To the wonderful poster above who said that though the show was never LOL funny, it had relatable moments & now they are just mining the absurd, a slow clap for you. Always happy when a show others like is renewed so that they can continue to enjoy it, but I think I'll find something else to watch.

I don't know how I feel about this being canceled. I genuinely didn't know it was legal to cancel a Shonda Rhimes show. While this season was infinitely better than season 1, I still feel like the show was all over the place and trying really hard to find it's voice. It must have been difficult when the writers realized that their lead actress, Alice was the worst part of the show (in addition to her horrible lipstick and chapped lips, ugh) and they had something far better in Margo, Rhys, and even Ben. Maybe I could have believed Tessa was 15 if she didn't have so much damn makeup on all the time. Tommy was beyond annoying, as was Sophie (is that her name, the one that got shot?) Couldn't care less. They could carve out a new and interesting concept with the rest of the cast and leave Alice and Tommy out. Oh well, the show struggled with its creative vision from the very start and it was never able to recover no matter how wonderful some of the actors.

Totally agree about the acting of Dev's parents. It was an interesting conceit in season 1 but this season it felt overly indulgent. I cringed every time I saw them, especially his mother. I'd be fine if they weren't in season 3.

And BTW, nipplesandtoes23 is a real IG account! I was dying laughing when Dev kept asking her about it and she quite earnestly wanted to make sure he found the right account. The look Angela Bassett gave him....this is why she is an amazing actress. I really enjoyed how they continued to tease Denise about dating the horrible and vapid (but pretty) Nikki cause that's exactly the kind of thing that family and friends would do. DD...where did the 2nd D come from?? I asked the same question Dev, I asked that too.

I hated going to church from the very beginning. I haven't set foot in a church outside of a wedding or funeral for 20 years. We were raised Catholic and I feel like if you want to raise an Athiest or an agonist, raise your kids in the Catholic church. Not that all Catholics walk away, but almost everyone I know who is no longer religious in any way was typically raised Catholic. I've often wondered if I had kids if I would go back to church so they have that foundation, but I can't imagine getting involved in that again. My parents were pretty understanding about us (there are 5 kids and literally not a single one of us goes to church!) no longer being involved. My mom used to play this funny game on Sundays with me when she would call and ask me how church was. I'd just roll my eyes and tell her I was at brunch drinking mimosas. It was amusing to both of us. I'm sure she wished I went to church, we never had to pretend with them and I was astonished that I had friends that would pretend. My parents are now also lapsed Catholics. They gave up on the institution for so many reasons.

Excellent episode. Angela Bassett makes everything better! I love her.

I was happy that Leah was on the show and the chemistry between them is still great. I was really distracted by Leah's inability to move her face though. Ugh, I guess the injections hadn't settled when they filmed this. I have no issues with cosmetic procedures, it's just when they seem to be overdone or overused. It was a decent enough episode and I'll watch again next week. Let's hope by the time they filmed that one, her face is moving again.

That was not good. That's all I've got.

I totally agree. Like "Joey" levels of bad.

I'd love to join the party, I'll bring some dip...well actually I'll bring the wine. I don't know why I said dip! Anyway, bye bye, Reagan. Nick will always be a mix of having mature moments peppered in with immaturity and insanity. Aly had the best lines in the episodes. My brother's name is Michael and growing up one of his best friends was also named Michael. Somehow we all managed to figure it out. So I cracked up when she said and somehow all the Michaels of the world have figured it out. The idea of how having two Winston's nearly tore them apart is intriguing. I'm sure it's stupid and bizarre because it's the guys. This has been the best season in a while and I feel like this can be the last one. Another season and they'd just ruin things again, especially if we have to watch Jess & Nick together again. I have no faith in them having learned from that first time. Let's end it now while we are still laughing.

Yup. This times a million, maybe worst episode of all time. As soon as I saw him, I turned the channel. He's a horrible person and revels in his awfulness. I'm appalled they had him on the show. Sadly, I can not speak to the episode.

Leah Remini without a doubt! I have loved her since Saved by the Bell which is the first time I remember her. Although she was on that god awful Alyssa Milano Paper Dolls crap but I don' think I ever saw it. Yeah, I'm old! She's fun, she's funny, she's quick, she's sarcastic. I would hang out with her any day. She definitely seems to get better with age. Erinn Hayes is blah to me but she seems nice enough. Leah appearing on the season finale is the only reason I'll watch this show again.

The Love Interests: Pale Shadows of Lilith (if that's possible)
msani19 replied to FormerMod-a1's topic in Frasier
I totally agree on the lack of chemistry between Frasier & Charlotte. Everything about their whatever, I hesitate to call it a relationship, was rushed to the point of ludicrous. While I appreciated the ending with Frasier taking a chance he wouldn't have taken before, the fact that it was for Charlotte was eye rolling. Nothing about their interactions was believable enough for me to buy into him doing such a gesture. I think Laura Linney is a pretty decent actress but her skills failed her in that role. Charlotte was fine just not as a romantic partner. -
I only watched this cause it was on after This Is Us. In fact, I was actively avoiding another Chicago show, cause I've not liked them thus far. I was pleasantly surprised and actually liked it! It did very much remind me of the original L&O which was a show I adored, so that worked in it's favor. Am I right that the DA Stone is supposed to be L&O Ben Stone's son? That's a nice connection. I'll try another episode next week to see if I'll add this is the viewing rotation. I could do without too many drop-ins from the other Chicago shows but I'm guessing that's inevitable.
