  1. Is it a tracking poll that asks the same people all the time?
  2. They're trying to get Hillary off the campaign trail and back to debate prep. She actually prepares for debates. All Drumpf does is repeat the same talking points. They probably want him to say Benghazi, emails, crooked and rigged for a larger audience a few more times.
  3. I did the DECADES "Quiz, which Dark Shadows character are you?" and I'm Dr. Julia Hoffman, according to that. I recently acquired the first 108 episodes. I wonder if DECADES is starting from the actual beginning episodes, or the beginning of Barnabas.
  4. I recently read most of Our Man in Charleston, by Christopher Dickey. I couldn't finish it because I didn't want to read all the bile that was being spouted in South Carolina back then(before 1863). It's too similar to what we are hearing from the deplorables now. Back then, lobbying and bribery were synonyms. If Drumpf were elected, his own family would be the lobbyists, and Russia would have inside knowledge of everything he would do. I just had to turn off Face The Nation on the radio because I didn't want to hear Reince Preibus's nonsense. An avalanche of cheetos?
  5. empathy towards people who aren't as able to do everything that others are able to do. I've worked with MS patients, so I'm familiar with the challenges. Sorry, there was a blip in my internet connection, and I just clicked "submit reply" before I was finished. I also wanted to give a big thumbs up to the title. I was going to go with something like Michelle Robinson Obama, Princeton, Harvard, Sidley-Austin. This title is better, but sometimes the mods change them anyway. I'm not that familiar with the Chicago Public High Schools in the current era. I've lived in the suburbs since I returned here in 1994. Back in my era, Kenwood, Hyde Park, and South Shore were all in one district. My district included Steinmetz and Austin. I went to parochial schools. I wanted to go to Lane Tech with my friends, but my parents wouldn't let me. Whitney Young started up a little after my era. Michelle must have gone on the "L", transferred downtown, and gotten off at Racine.
  6. Michelle's Wiki page has a lot of interesting detail about her early life. Two things that stand out for me are that her father had MS, and that she went to Whitney Young on the west side instead of a school closer to home. I think South Shore would have been the closest high school back then. Her father's condition must have given her
  7. I talk to my fish when the commercials come on TV. The ad that bothers me most is on the radio. It's an ad by the soft drink companies against. a beverage tax. The ad takes the very odd position that the government and all it's officials are "them", and the people opposed to the tax are "us". I didn't realize that the Cubs had won until this morning. It's wonderful, but too bad the RIckettses will make more money. I hope they give something to charity.
  8. He's basically talking about British history there. His era would be selfishness to apathy, which would be exemplified by Drumpf this year. He's selfish and doesn't care about others, but I don't think we are. Probably his biggest mistake was antagonizing immigrants. Immigrants vote when they become citizens. More importantly, the children of immigrants vote, and can relate to how Drumpf would treat their own parents. It hasn't been determined yet how many deplorables vote.
  9. I'll have to re-watch. I'm not sure what to think of it. The preview of the next episode doesn't look so good. The Doctor probably isn't going to come and save the day at the end of each episode. I agree that Ms Quill got interesting as the episode progressed. So there's six kids. It's kind of like Misfits. There's a gay male couple, like on Torchwood. It seems like they took some puzzle parts and re-arranged them to form another show. Anna Shaffer is the name of the actress that was on Hollyoaks. I didn't even know that she was in the Harry Potter movies, since I've never seen them.
  10. I was jumping around to different things, and settled on this. So is Peter Capaldi going to be in more of these? There were some recognizable faces. I saw one actress who was on Hollyoaks, and they killed off her character pretty quickly. The guy that was fighting one of the monsters and got his leg severed looked like a young David Tennant, or his stunt double did. I was surprised when Capaldi showed up. "Time never forgets." "It's like a hellmouth" (skip over OUAT) "Or The Vampire Diaries" "You watch Vampire Diaries?" "Everyone's very attractive." "Yes, it's true"
  11. Bigly is Drumpf's contracted pronunciation for Big League.
  12. Drumpf blames others, even when he makes the decisions. After the election, armchair psychiatrists will be analyzing him for years. Maybe they'll name a syndrome after him. He reminds me of Nixon more than anyone else that ever got close to the Presidency.
  13. Tina and Amy 02/23/08 the full video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3vAVhaIEIk
  14. These Insane Excuses From Trump's Surrogates Are Deplorable: Olberman turns his attention to Kellyanne, Sessions, Ghouliani, Palin (that woman is an idiot) , and talks about Bush v Gore
  15. I watched The Rocky Horror thing last night, and thought that Magenta was played by Raven. I thought she was very good. Then I looked it up this morning and found out it was really Christina Milian.
  16. Before that, in Arkansas, people were very confused because she continued to use her own last name rather than her husband's when he first became governor. Then he lost an election, and after that she decided she had to use the Clinton name. I can't remember when the Rodham name came back in, but it immediately became a subject for derision by idiots.
  17. You can start a thread. I would like one, but haven't come up with a catchy title. Her WIKI page is very interesting. I don't think she's going to run for anything until after Sasha finishes school.
  18. I lived in FL from 79-94. I remember standing in line in the rain to vote for Jimmy Carter at the Pine Castle Women's League near Orlando in 1980. After that I moved to a suburban town which kept expanding in population but never had more than one polling place, at the city hall. I guess I had better bladder control back then, because I know exactly what you're talking about with the lines. You'd think it would have improved over the last 20 years, but I guess not. When I moved back to Chicagoland, I voted in the local public school with the kids running around the voting area, until they moved the polling place to a local church, which had better facilities. Then early voting came in and since then I've always voted early, and there was only a line the first time. After that, it's been much easier. The local governments really need to get their act together.
  19. It's just a good thing that our election season lasts so long and starts up again so often. Otherwise, I probably would forget than SNL still exists.
  20. IOW, people that even Faux News won't touch. I predict an eventual power struggle over the Drumpf "empire" between Ivanka and her husband on one side and her brothers on the other. The sons seem to know that their dad favors Ivanka over them, by their body language after the debate. Just to make it a soap opera, I predict Melania will side with the sons and something might happen with one of them. There will be an outraged wife. I've been recovering from last night by watching the soaps today. Tiffany will be an outsider, and of course Barron will be with his mum. Last night, after Hillary walked over to Chris W and then to the audience, Drumpf definitely seemed to be eyeing her nether regions. He's just a dirty old lech.
  21. I also thought that was one of Hillary's best moments, and really heartfelt, like she usually is when she talks about women and children. I've been posting in so many threads that I can't keep track of where I read things, but I wanted to respond to some people in the media claiming that Drumpf won the debate, and the poster wondering what debate they watched. I think they were watching the debate between Themanisalwaysright and Womenarealwayswrong.
  22. I just think it's important to vote as early as possible. You don't know what kind of nonsense will be going on come Election Day. I'm picturing people lined up around the block before 6 in the morning, being harassed by armed marauders. Maybe states that don't have early voting will be persuaded to start.
  23. Chelsea was on The Talk today. She says she has a full time job working for her mom. She's also breast-feeding and advocating for breast-feeding. I think she's really great, but I wonder if she and Ivanka are really going to be able to keep up their friendship in the future. She says that her dad is looking forward to being "The First Laddie".
